Should we use speech boxes:

Or credits?

A bit early, but I say we should use custom text on layers 1 and 2 and place the letters along a horizontal level. Then we hide Mario and use an autoscroll command so the screen scrolls through the credits. That's how most people do it.

Like some kind of flash collaboration?
I don't know if editing layer 2 will be good for all level types.

I think he meant have a layer 2 level especially for the credits.

TSRPR had a fairly interesting way of doing the credits, by having the credits on a horizontal autoscrolling segment of the final level, where Mario was placed offscreen to look like he wasn't there at all. Something like that would work best so we have full control over the credits scene, instead of trying to work around the limitations that the SMW ending sequence provides. That and we can fully customize a Layer 2 credits scene to our liking.

Well, will the text still appear if you use a key?

...There wouldn't be a key in that level. Plus, I don't see how a key would affect the text.

If the text appears when the screen goes dark at the end, then how will it do that when you finish the level with the key exit?

Umm.. no. This is how it will work. You kill Bowser (Or another boss which will replace him), you get teleported to another level that is the credits. See, the credits are just another level.

Ohhh... Yeah, that sounds good enough.
So which boss has the credits? The final boss (bowser) or the end of the island bosses?

I would think the final boss have all of the credits, because it would just be more organized that way, plus credits after every world would get montonomous.

True...
I noticed that if you want to make a really long credits list it's best to make an "A" to "Z" for every font style. It makes it quicker to just copy & paste.
I'd be happy to set up the final credits!

I figured it could just say "ALL THE USERS OF SMWC"
and that would take care of it.

But I doubt that all of the users will take part in this. We'd better specify. After all, who doesn't love seeing their name in a big, important list?

We aren't all involved. We could start a group called "The SMWC producers 2009" and we make a hack every year so that every time someone looks up who the 2009 artists were they find us, but when it's 2010 they'll find a slightly different crew of people.

Of course not, we'd have to somehow extend the maximum amount of levels for that to even be probable. Besides, the levels should be selected.
QuoteAfter all, who doesn't love seeing their name in a big, important list?
Credits don't make you popular, it just proves you took part. Credits are still important and a factor of the hack.

Let's compromise: If we don't list everyone who helped, then we shorten it to "Everyone who created levels", or something of that sort. Fair enough? It's pretty much a "You-know-who-you-are" kind of thing.

There will definitely be a list of people that created the levels since there will be signups and everything so at the least we'll be able to include all the level designers in the credits.

Nah. Let's just put a level that says "AAAAAAAAAAAA". It's the same thing except that it has AAAAAAAAAAAA in it.
Kidding. If I were to make a level, I'd really appreciate if my name was on the credits.
You don't put "the guys who made the stuff I used in my hack" in your credits.
