I'm glad you're going to change some of SMW's old boring palettes to something fresh. I wouldn't call my palettes amazing, especially those old level ones, but thanks all the same. Also, you can make non-vanilla levels look like a beach.
I'm tired of all my double-posting. Meh. This may be my last update for awhile, because I tend to bite off more than I can chew; start 5+ levels and finish SLOWLY.

Merry Christmas! I give you only a video of my newest level: Sunset Sky.
I decided to go ahead and give each and every level its own name, instead of WORLD NAME #.
Just a cloud level. Pretty challenging, but it's the second to last world.
And please don't mention the minor leaf cutoff. I'm not going to fix it, and I might get rid of it if I feel like it.

Uh, it was pretty much unecessary to invade someone's hack thread to announce that, mate. If you want us, hack moderators, to feel sorry for you because your hack has been getting removed so many times from the database due to problems that I'm sure you CAN actually fix, I'm afraid it isn't really working out, bud.

Anyways, regarding the actual video... I'm in love with the way you managed to use the BG cloud tiles to build up an actual FG - I really would have never thought of doing that... instead, the best I would do is probably include the regular FG cloud tiles into the same GFX file as the mushroom platforms, heh. I'm really digging the palettes there too, as well as the general design of that level - keep up the good work!

OFFTOPIC RANDOM POSTS FTW!

Anyways, nice level. I see an issue with part of the rotating platforms disappearing though...
Thanks guys.
Time for a wall of text.

(tell me if it isn't working, YouTube/ZSNES are being absolute BITCHES lately)
New level.
Basically, it resembles Moonside, except plains/cave instead of a town 'n' stuff.
It's the second to last level(not counting Bowser's castle), and the name is NOT final. I need to find a better word for cave than 'Mausoleum', since that means crypt; grave, and this is supposed to be dark yet in a way happy. I may replace 'Moonbow' with 'Lunar', but I love moonbow since it's basically a rainbow at night(yes it's real, wikipedia it). Anyways, I guess the first word will be related to moon, since it's poking fun at moonside.

Anyways, about the level, I put BG crystals(though I gave 'em different palettes) on the FG to make it look awesome. I also like to think of this as a sort of parallel to rainbow road, since it has spread out rainbows, and is a cave, not sky.

And about the message boxes, someone had to say it, guess it had to be me.

BONUS(not going to be in my hack, and ignore Mario's palette):

Very nice, Spud. The difficulty looks just about perfect for an end game level, and I always liked wire-frame levels like that.
In fact, I was going to make a level like that, but you beat me to it.
(Good thing I hadn't already started making the level... it was just an idea)
Also, I looked through some of the thread, and you never said how long the hack is going to be... I'm just curious.

Once again, nice work.
Thanks! That hack is only 6 worlds long(I consider 6-10 perfect world numbers :D), but each world has 6 levels: 3 normal levels, 1 'optional level'(basically a secret level, but you don't have to find the secret exit to unlock it. It's optional, but may help), 1 actual secret level, and a castle. The final world may vary from this method, though(but probably won't).

Oh, and this doesn't mean I'm almost done :D, I make levels in a random order usually...
I still have about 11 more levels to finish(many are almost/partway done).
Then I have the OW(at least I remember how to use the OW editor, but I may have to relearn it).

That level uses some excellent palettes. It gives you a perfect "glow-in-the-dark" feeling for a final world or a bonus level. As for the "improved" disco shell, honestly, I really don't like it. Thank goodness its not in the hack.
I was expecting a ghost level or something. XD

ANyways, those are really nice palletes, but I don't really like the music choice in the first area. I'd say to change it, but it's your choice, Spud.

Lol at the disco shell. Marios pallet iz ugly tho.
Having seen the whole thread, I conclude that this hack is excellent at custom palettes. That previous vid does show a sort of Moonside vibe.

And that's one trippy disco shell.
I think that sand castle is one of the best things I've ever seen; it looks absolutely amazing.

A lot of work has clearly gone into this hack, and it shows. Keep it up!

1. Yeah, it's the closest I could think of a word that started w/ 'M' and meant 'cave', but now I've renamed it 'Moonbow Mines'.

2. Yeah, I was thinking the same before, I'm actually going to make it silent now.

And thanks a ton, Best Video Gamer and dogma! Now fer some content:
---

Little thing to tide you over.
Lots of action in this WIP sky-world level.
That looks like a fun level, even though I've hated P-balloon sections ever since we were introduced to the beast known as Tubular.
Tubular is a bitc- hard level. :<
Like always, Spud, your palette shines like a beacon. I love it.
The green fits with the blue very, very well.
It might not be the best sky palette, but it works, none the less.
I actually find that most P balloon sections in hacks aren't that bad. Most of them, in fact, I find to be easier than Tubular.
The overall design looks pretty good. Nice use of land donut shenanigans.

I can't believe I wrote that much for one screen.
Shows you how much I want to play this, I guess.
Heh, actually, I enjoyed Tubular, didn't find it much hard compared to some levels, and I also love balloon areas.
Anyways, thanks, you 2. Don't worry, the balloon section is pretty short, then there'll be a 'star maze' and then lakitu cloud maze :3
Also, I can change the BG palette, since, though I myself don't find it bad, I want this hack to be as good as possible, and I'm not as attached to that particular palette as I am to some.

You won't like the third level in my kaizo hack then.

Anyway, looks fun.

That's right. The overworld.
Here it is.
I actually designed this overworld years ago, and mapped it today. There are quite a few tweaks though.
Well, I told myself I wouldn't make it until everything else in the hack was done, but I ended up making the main overworld today. It's actually my first ever overworld.
I disabled Layer 1(levels, castles, ect.) and no events were activated. I also haven't placed sprites. I resized it in MS Paint, the ocean is a bit larger. I didn't take up a lot of space, I might add decorational islands. It's only two worlds(1/3 of the game)(and coincidently worlds 1 and 3 of the game), and the other four worlds will be on submaps. It's the beach world(1), which includes the lower left cliffs, and the sandy beach at the bottom. Then you go into world 2- the forest. You come out up to the crescent lake.
I think it's pretty good for a first try, now I just have to make the four submaps. Comments, criti?cism(or bad prospectives?)
EDIT: in case anyone noticed, the beach sand texture is friendly OW tile 0x36 :3 It was originally used in that big hill near Ludwig's castle.

This overworld is pretty nice, but you know those climbing blocks? What is that black thing to the top-right of it? It's like a slash.
Yeah, awesome.
The varation with the land is good, and the island is round for the most part, which makes it look very nice.
It's decorated, uses ups and downs, and overall just looks nice.
I recommend making a custom palette for the green part though. It'd look even better.
Of course, the only problem is the empty water around there, but as long as you add islands like you said.
Better yet, you could just disable looking around on the overworld.
