LM on a mac

I really wonder, why is it that LM can't run on a mac? like, does anyone know what specifically disables it from running on apple? I'm kinda curious. Besides, if we ever figure out how to enable it on mac, I'm swtiching over in a flash! So, yeah. Does anyone know what in LM's workings does not allow it to run on macs?
Because Windows and Mac work in different ways. Trying to run LM on a Mac is like trying to talk to an american in Chinese. You wouldn't understand each other. One could in theory have someone translating into the two different languages (like Wine does for Linux), but I dunno if such a program exists for Macs, and even if it does, it may not be compatible with LM. (Wine wasn't until just recently.)

Older Macs didn't even use the same processor, which would be like trying to talk to an earless alien whose language consist it using magnetic fields to form words. There's no way for the two of you to even try to make yourselves understood. With Chinese to English, you could sort of get a message across... like... pointing at your open mouth to indicate food, but you and the alien have no common frame of reference and thus couldn't even get the simplest point across.

To summarize: Windows and Mac use, to oversimplify things, two different languages and thus the programs made for one computer won't work for the other one.

The workaround is to hack a new tool to replace Lunar Magic.

WHAT! I never got LM to work through Wine. It cannot show tile data onscreen. The code itself is 80% operational, but you cannot functionally edit level data, which is the real point of LM

Yes, I had that same problem. Until a recent version of Wine fixed it. Now LM works flawlessly in it. And yes, there is a port to Mac. It is called "Darwine".

If you are on an Intel Mac, get the unstable "Darwine" from here. It runs Lunar Magic fine.

Note: You may need to update your X11. Some versions of Apple's X11 are buggy and known not to work with Darwine, as well as other stuff.

If you are using Mac OS 10.5 "Leopard", you can get X11 from http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/Releases. Pick the latest X11 that is compatible with your subrelease, follow the instructions, and hope it will make Darwine work.

If you are on Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger", you must use "Fink" or "DarwinPorts" to obtain X11. Use Google for more information. This should also work on Leopard.

If you are on a PowerPC Mac, you are S.O.L. as far as Darwine goes. You can, however, use Qemu to emulate a whole PC using a legit copy of Microsoft Windows you have puchased (or the one you downloaded from a warez site, that came with bonus handcuffs and a 250000 USD fine!), but this will we slow as all hell, depending on the speed of your Mac.

Remember, your mileage may vary. I will not confirm that any of this works. Try anyways, though.
