What is the dumbest crook story you have ever heard? Here is one: 2 people robbed a store for bubble gum, then ran. Got caught real quickly because they stopped somewhere to eat the gum. Here is the dumb part. When connected together in handcuffs, they both run off fast. A pole is approaching, both going different directions... handcuffs wrap around it, and both are caught again!

This forum is more of a fresh off the news type of thing, not a place you can ask people for their opinions on something. I guess this would fit well in the Talk forum though.
(I can't think of any dumb crooks off the top of my head)

I think you'd love the Bathroom Reader series. Go check them out, you can find them in the humor section of your local bookstore.
As for dumbest crook stories, I heard one about a guy who goes into a bank, and goes to a till and asks the teller to fill a bag with money. He then decides to ask the teller out, and she plays along. The crook gives her his phone number, and after he leaves with a bag of money, the police track his phone and arrest him at his apartment.
Also, because it's kinda on topic, My mom's car got broken into a while ago, and the people who broke in didn't even take anything. We know it wasn't just an accident, too, because the car was in our garage.

There was one dumb crook story...While he was in court, he made a dash for freedom, and made it out of the building, with the police right behind him. He dove into the lake to try to lose the police, but he forgot that he couldnt swim. So the police saved him, and arrested him. again.

I saw a clip on a TV show where a burglar got stuck inside a building because the shutter auto-locked after he opened and closed it to get in.

Someone actually robbed a bank (very meanly) but then couldn't get out... he yelled at the people to unlock the doors, but it wasn't them... he was pushing a pull door!

Ok this one was hilarious:
A crook stole a truck but not before spaypainting "I did not steal this truck" on it followed by
his name and adress. Police say it didn't take to long to find the culprit.

I've got an example of an arrogant crook.
A girl's house was broken into, and the thief made off with a ton of electronic stuff, including a DS and a laptop. The thief then went on the laptop, logged onto Facebook and started mocking the theft victim with posts such as "using my new laptop" and something to do with taking the stuff down to the porn shop (pretty sure he meant pawn, but whatever). Don't be too shocked if soon we find out he's been arrested for selling stolen goods.

I also remember a video of some guy trying to rob a jewelry store. The clerk just hits a button which locks all doors from the inside so the crook is stuck inside 'till the cops come. But that's not so much a "dumb" crook as one who is ignorant of counter-theft measures. The only dumb part was him banging at the doors to get out.
Another one I remember was a crook trying to rob a convenience store. The owner is a black belt, disarms the guy, then sics his rottweiler on the thief. I can't remember if I saw it on TV or the internet or whatnot. You had to be there...

A guy wearing a ski mask went to a bank and waited in line. When he finally got to the teller, he demanded all of their money. She said,
"This is the wrong line, sir."
He went to the other line and started waiting again. The police came and arrested him.

Two stories of someone trying to rob a bank: case 1, the guy was wearing a see through trash bag as his mask, case 2... a branch!

These guys arent really robbers but they are outlaws.
2 guys try to escape cuba.
They grab this car an turn it into a boat.
The wheels make it float.
The engine makes it a speed boat.
They start heading out.
After about halfway it is nightfall.
They decide to go to sleep.
1 problem.
The car is a bright lime green.
The coast gaurd comes by sahines the light on the car!
They get caught and get arrested.
Forget exactly why...
They should have painted the car!

a crook robbed a bank fill with candy called the pole smasher!
