IRC Channel Info and Rules (#smwc)
For those who don't know, IRC is used for chatting. It involves a network consisting of one or more servers that host so called channels (chat rooms). Our IRC channel can be reached using the following information:
Code
- Server: irc.caffie.net
- Ports: 6660-6669, 7000, 8067 or 6697, 7070, 9999 for SSL
- Channel: #smwc
In order to connect to an IRC network, you will need an IRC client. This can be a program, script, etc. that runs on your computer or in your browser. There is a vast number of clients to be found out there, but here is a small list:
RulesCode
- No flaming, fighting or trolling.
- No spamming or flooding.
- No excessive joining, leaving or changing nick.
- No causing or bringing drama.
- No excessive
use of Internet memes stupidity.
- No illegal or NSFW links.
- No bots or scripts without permission from Kieran. Bots are not only an annoyance if you can interact with them, but ones which log text may spur drama if negative stuff is said about a user.
Violating these will trigger a punishment of some form. Depending on the extent of the violation, will issue warnings (kicks) and, if the problems continue, eventually ban you from the channel.

May I suggest an additional rule?
I saw someone trying to rabble-rouse up some others in #smwc to attack and spam a site dedicated to helping... "sexual deviants" as a broad term to cope with their feelings and such. I put a stop to it, so it didn't go much farther.
So I'm suggesting a rule against gay bashing, racial slurs, etc. Or, would this fall under flaming, fighting and trolling?

It depends on what client you picked. Mibbit is self explanatory since it asks you for the server and channel info prior to connecting, but the usual way of connecting to our server and channel is:
Code/server irc.caffie.net ENTER
/join #smwc ENTER
(ENTER = Hit the Enter key).
You can also add these to your client's auto-join preference once you learn how to.

And if it wasn't obvious, you need to hit the enter button where ENTER is in Blumiere's connection code.
(Unless Blu's client is somewhat different)

...nobody called you a noob.
Anyway, while I'm here, I should probably note rule 6. While I have never banned anyone personally for providing ROM links in #smwc, it's still generally advised that you don't. Yeah.

A certain user was banned last week by a certain moderator here for about an hour.
Permanently? Not that I know of.

In rule 6, "illegal" covers ROMs, warez, media, etc. Anything really. And no, this set of rules does not apply to your own channels. Obviously, though, I still have to officially say that I will not have any illegal activity on the network at all. But you know...

I wouldn't give a ROM link. So it don't bother me.
EDIT: ANOTHER MILESTONE! POST 300

You shouldn't need to enter any ports, but if you do, use these:
Ports: 6667, 8067 or 6666, 6697 for SSL
