Honestly, I really doubt it that someone will ever consider programming utilities like the ones you need... as well as I'm pretty sure that it is not possible to convert C/C++ into ASM. About your other two tool requests, how about using YY-CHR/Tile Layer Pro for GFX editing, using Romi's Addmusic for music insertion, Sample Utility for modifying samples (since there is no way of INSERTING new SFX to your hack yet) and so on? It isn't hard at all to figure how these utilities work, anyways.

Also, I really do not know what you mean by 3rd Mario... would you mind elaborating?

Apart from all of that, the plot sounds decent... better than lots of things I have been coming across, at least. ;) Some screenshots/videos regarding the hack itself would be nice.
Something tells me you oughta step your goals down a notch. You tell us you are new at SMW hacking, and yet you want brand-freaking-new TOOLS, CUSTOM MUSIC, ASM, AND a 3D mario?..


Look. I'm gonna be honest.


No-one is going to do this for you because you sound, right now, like an overly entusiastic newbie hacker who doesn't know what the hell he is getting into. YY-Chr is a very easy tool to learn how to use compared to ASM by the way. You don't even really need DIRECTIONS. No one is going to fill out those requests. You should instead spend your time learning Addmusic (Carols or Romi's), Sprite insertion, and Blocktool SD.


Okay, Now onto the critique-ing:

1) Yoshi is a VERY VERY VERY overused player in mario hacks.
2) You cannot make a Yoshi Island only Graphics hack. NekohDot tried, and ran out of Graphics space. Yoshi Island infused graphics I kinda understand, but you'd have to make them yourself in YYCHR probably.
3) You're gonna need to learn how tomake custom music, because nobody is gonna fill out THAT many requests only to get their name in the credits. Utulize Romi's Addmusic to it's fullest effects to change some of the music up instead.
4) You need screenshots of your hack or else someone will get the threadlockhammer out.

You might want to look at http://code.google.com/p/snes-sdk/, which allegedly converts C code to 65816 assembly code.
No, what I mean is just modify the graphics so that they look similar to Yoshi's Island.

I only mean for the graphics to look 3D. I am aware that the game is 2D.

Maybe I should just ask if I can use the SMW Redrawn graphics, and maybe just add a couple of Yoshi's Island backgrounds.

And if no-one can help me out, I'll just have to experiment with hacking until I can pull the whole thing off myself.

BTW, do you have a YY-CHR palette set for SMW? If you do, please upload it/post a link if you already have.

EDIT: SNES-sdk is along the lines of what I'm looking for, but I can't find a download for it. I guess I'll have to keep searching.

You can get the right palettes by using savestates. Press F2 in ZSNES to make one, and then press F12 in YY-CHR and load it (it's a .zst file, in the same folder as the ROM). Change the palette rows by dragging them up or down or clicking the arrows next to them. (To get the right colors for the overworld, make a savestate on the overworld.)

Anyway, this is not the right forum for asking for help and requesting things. You should only make a thread in SMW Hack Discussion when you actually have something to show. (You did seem to post some screenshots, but they give me a 404 error.)

In short, I recommend asking your questions somewhere else on this site, and having this thread mostly for infos about your hack. You should also get some working screenshots up soon, or this thread will have to be closed in 24 hours.

Perhaps it is part of that "power-up roulette" that are usually seen inside glass blocks.

Anyway, it looks decent, if a bit full of coins, and, in the third screenshot, try to see if you can connect the ground with the wall by using standard object "Solid left + top, left facing bottom edge".

...Oh, right. Stupid me!

So anyway, it looks decent so far. The corner tile could stand to be fixed, as mentioned.
The purpose of the ground and wall not being connected is that I put a Yoshi coin, sequence mushrooms (4 mushrooms in a row, get a 5th one for getting them right), and a moon behind it, but it didn't work. So I'll just switch it back to normal.

EDIT: I just made a userbar for the project, as you can see in my signature.

Playing Yoshi would be one of the favourite Things of mine in that Hack of course (Because my eyes are tired after working on the own thing after testing and testing of the levels with Mario. Only red and blue....). I want to be a tester of that if the first demo is out. I can make Lps of it too if you want. But I´m only a newcomer.
The demo isn't out yet (not enough stuff is changed.)
But you can be a tester when it does come out, as well as making LPs of it.

Here are the blue and red coins, worth 5 coins and 2 coins, respectively.

These things happen when there's no plumber around...

The screens look rather boring to be honest, especially the last two. You seem to overuse those Bullet Bill launchers (either that, or you just happened to take both screenshots in an area full of them). I must say though, the FG/BG palette combination for the second screenshot looks great.

Do you have any more screenshots? I'd like to see some without the Bullet Bill fetish.
