@ skedar: Nice castle level! The status bar palette may need a bit of work though - and you may want to add another 100 to the clock since you almost ran out of time yourself, and a new player to your hack may want to explore a little more. Otherwise, really nice job

Drawing has never really been a strong point for me, but I decided to take a shot at a tileset for a new level I'm working on. This is a test of sorts...and it looks okay to me. I still plan on adding more stuff...but this is a small sample of what I have so far. I would appreciate any kind of suggestion on how to improve.

That looks real good Foursword - The docks especially give that tileset a real "Maritime" look, and it's way better than the same ol' Super Mario World bridges that seem to be in every hack at least once.

You have bad palleted koopas. I think that was intended for cool, wire-frame like enemies. Notice how they fit on the neon background. Just sayin'.
Wow, I really think this looks cool potato lantern!

@Foursword4: That's really excellent for a first try. The only thing I dislike, and this happens to a lot of beginners, is that the grass is too thin. I mean, it still looks good, but when you designate only an 8x8 area for the grass, there's not much room for detail. I'm really liking your decorations and the water.

Wow! That OW looks fantastic - the paths look like something you'd see in an RPG almost. The only thing I noticed was there was no entrances to any sub-maps (pipes, cave entrance, etc.), so are you just going to be using the warp stars to get to/from the sub-maps, or are there going to be sub-maps at all?

Artsy2: thanks, you pretty much covered it.
Foursword4: that's quite nice for a first try, my only issue with it would be palette related: In my opinion, the grass's "shadow" on the dirt should be a dark shade of gray, not green.
GRIM: That OW has some great design. The graphics are great, too. My only suggestion would be to use those new GFX COMPLETELY, not a mixture of them and the original SMW OW GFX.. although I AM curious how you managed to fit in the new GFX AND SMW's original OW GFX.

@Grim: That OW looks great! I don't have any suggestions to make about it.
I already posted this level in it's hack thread, but I want your opinions on how I can improve it:

Any suggestions?
I'd try changing the palette for the arches, they look weird as is right now.
Even though the level isn't near being completed, I decided to make a video of this because it's just THAT AWESOME.

The layer 3 "Lava" effect was given to me by Imamelia.

Atma: The lava looks rather interesting, though I don't like how it "jumps" up right at the beginning. Does it actually change height like "Mondo" did, or does it do something else? I know you said that it changes current in the message box, but that usually refers to direction, so I'm a bit confused.

Just showing some Layer 3 images I made.

The Layer 3 here is the water and the sun in the back. I tried to replicate a sunset of sorts, I might fix the HDMA so it looks better.

A GIF showing a Layer 3 Lava I made. Of course, the lava interaction was given to me by Atma, whom imamelia gave the code. I made it a GIF so u cna haz see teh animationz (Of course, the GIF looks very crude, it looks better ingame...)

It already looks awesome here.
But the water-sun connection seems a bit.... Cutoff, you might say.

Looks very nice Ladida, like always
But just like Yonowaaru stated, the sun looks a bit cutoff.
Maybe you could change the pallete from the water to match it with a sunset?
