| Tip: Don't remake levels from other Mario games, especially popular ones (SMB1/3 1-1, for example). |

First of all, please don't hit me, because I understand something wrong^^
Well, I've wondered why the most released "Powerup"Sprites needs generators? I thought making Mario pressing random button to generate something is not worth at all to make an additional generator? Did I miss something?
The second point is, shouldn't be a more conservative way getting a Poweup? For example, the sprite to spawn(For example a hammer sprite) and a patch that handles all levels(the patch IS the generator)
I would be glad if someone could explain me, WHY generators and not patches?

Iceguy made the hammer and boomerang powerups' generator into a patch. You can add support for other powerups in the patch. Here is the original patch.
Where it has
Quotelda $0dc6
cmp #$01
beq hammered
cmp #$02
beq Boomerang
rts
you can just add another
QuoteCMP #$--
BEQ whatever
where -- is whatever the powerup stores to $0DC6 and whatever is a label name that you put somewhere else in the patch.
Then you look in the generator for the powerup and copy what it does if you have the powerup and put it in a spot in the patch. Put the label in front of it.
Note: There may be a little more to do, its been a while since I did this.
Here is my patch after adding in a couple.

power-ups tend to disappear after being collected, something needs to run the actual "power" of the power-up. The sprite itself usually just makes some fancy "get" animation happen, and sets a flag to let the generator know to do it's thing.
