Talk Forum rules as of December 16th, 2012
Update: Reworded Rule 2 due to lack of Introduction/Leaving/Returning thread
Removed reference to example thread in Rule 4 as the thread is no longer available
When making threads or replying to a thread in this forum, please keep these rules in mind:
- Make sure your threads will be able to spark decent discussion
This rule is the most important. The Talk forum's purpose is so users can have a laugh, give an opinion or discuss a certain topic. When making a thread, make sure that users will be able to reply with something to say. Do not create threads if you know no one will have anything to reply with.
- Do not create personal threads (Original Thread)
If you want to tell users about yourself so they get to know you better, write up the information and put it into your profile's biography, or introduce yourself in the Introductions forum. We do not want threads popping up here and there only about the creator.
- Do not create rant threads (Original Thread)
We do not want this forum to get cluttered up with threads with you complaining about how bad your day was or something that got you angry. No one wants to read these types of threads, and we certainly don't want users creating a thread for everything that ticks them off.
- No pornographic-related threads are to be made in this forum
We have a userbase filled with teenagers, both young and old, and the last thing we need are the younger users stumbling upon threads with genitals everywhere with their parents in the room.
- No more "What is your favourite X" threads
Discussions about our favourite food/drink/condom flavour/you name it rarely generate much real discussion value and are usually just a spot for someone to make a one-line post and add to their postcount. You can use our perfectly good Bar & Grill (the Tipsy Faun at the time this rule was added) to have discussions of favourite things, but leave individual threads for a more...enlightened line of discourse.
Failure to follow these rules will get your thread closed, trashed, or possibly be followed up with a ban.
