Classic Piranha Plant

I don't usually ask questions--in fact, this is the first one I've ever asked--but this problem is really starting to bother me.

I am trying to use the Classic Piranha Plant sprite. I have tried applying the fix patch for it time and again, but when I run the game, I still see a fish stem. Do I need to somehow erase the stem? I've heard that you need to use ExGFX, but I'm not really sure what I need to do.

If someone would help me, I would be extremely grateful.
As far as I know, that patch makes Piranha Plants become tilleset specific, meaning you have to use the cave tileset for them to show up correctly.
To expand on what WYE stated if you want a "vanilla feel" you should find the stem and the fish in YY-CHR and paste over the fish. Not sure whether this overwrites the fish but it shouldn't.
Where specifically in YY-CHR can I find the plant? Even after loading a savestate to improve the palettes, I still don't know where to look.
GFX01 if I recall. If your file is AllGFX.bin, then it's near the top. If you'd prefer seperated .bin files, Uncheck "Use Joined GFX Tiles" under Options in Lunar Magic.

Just a little warning to add to this: if you uncheck "Use Joined GFX Tiles", make sure you export before you try to import. I once did this and it totally thrashed my ROM so... yeah...
Make a copy of GFX01 and insert it as ExGFX. That way you can have both plant and fish (though not in the same level).
Thank you, everyone, for being so helpful. I just have one last problem. I pasted over the fish graphics in AllGFX and GFX01, and the plant's stem is red. I applied the Piranha fix patch, but it didn't seem to do anything. Does the patch require freespace, and, if so, where?

Again, thank you to whomever answers this.
I don't believe it does. And if you didn't set your free space, you would be having a bigger problem than the stem being red, like your game wouldn't start.
I'll explain exactly what I'm doing. I take my ROM and put it, and the patch, in the same folder as xkas and all of its files. I open Notepad and type:

xkas patchname.asm rom.smc
@pause

--Where "patchname" and "rom" are the patch and the name of my hack. I call the file patch1.bat, and then I open my xkas folder. I click on the .bat file, and a black screen pops up, telling me to press any key to continue.

It seems like the ROM is patched, but when I open it in LM, the stem is still red.
Lunar Magic will not display the vine properly.
Thanks again for all your help. Unfortunately, nothing I do will make the stem green or keep the Cheep-Cheeps from being erased. I've decided to just give up for now and focus on the rest of my hack. After all, this stupid plant isn't the only aspect of my hack!

If there's nothing else to be said, then can someone please close this thread?
