I need help on Windows Vista. I want to make a hack, but I don't know how. I need some basics starting points.

I don't know what will happen when I download a ROM. I don't even know if we have a ROM on our computer already. And of course, most programs I download, this thing pops up that says I need an administrator password to add. And If i do put on in and it turns valid, it may open up a whole file of something, then my parents or sister will find out and then I'll get into an endless amount of trouble.

Well for one, you need Lunar Magic which you can get here, then you need a CLEAN Super Mario World rom which links are not allowed here so you will have to google it but to save you time, I did that for you.
Then you open Lunar Magic and Open your SMW rom and edit away. I have Vista and Windows 7 and it doesn't ask me for a password.

either
A. get your own computer
B. Dont hack at all...
C. Nothing comes out of a rom download than a rom

What I mean is a file or window that will go on the desktop or start page.
I downloaded it, it wouldn't let me do something... When I used something on the computer, I chose note pad, and now it opened a notepad thing with and endless list of random characters. Something tells me I just failed.

ROMS look like that in notepad, its fine. Now you need to get Lunar Magic and open up your ROM in it. Lunar Magic is located in the Tools section.

EXACTLY what he said, but you'll also need an emulator to run the ROM in. >_>
Download ZSNES. And about the programs (Lunar Magic and ZSNES and the ROM file) showing up in the Start menu or desktop, just don't make a shortcut! These programs don't need to be installed, so they won't automatically create a shortcut.
