Hey everyone, new user here.
I've been working on my first SMW hack and have been looking to get these pipes into the hack. I want these to the point that I've deleted all my work and started over with a clean ROM to get this done. My question involves using the 16x16 Tile Editor:
Having done the install, I can get the pipes to work using the included pipes.mwl level. The only issue I have is that the custom blocks look like the standard blank tile (four blue 8x8 squares). They have the correct descriptions because of the included DSC file and they all work properly because I can go through the level just fine, they just don't look like pipes.
For anyone that has done this install (Link Here), is this supposed to put the pipe graphics on page four? Or do I need to copy the graphics from pages 1 and 2 for the pipes? If the latter, what should I do about the corner pieces?
Also, just to clarify, the readme in the file states that you have to press F2 on the page to load the tiles into Map16, when as far as what I can tell and what I've read, you have to press F3 to load (then F9 to save of course!).
Thank you for your consideration in response to my problem! If this gets solved, I'll be more than happy to contribute to the forums more with my ideas and help!

No. F2, serves to save the file to map16, F3, loads the file Map16, and F9 Saves the Map16, but to drive.

But first, put the ExGFX in the ExGFX folder for your ROM, otherwise you will not be able to insert it. I think you already know how to insert ExGFX, so I wont explain the rest. But yes, you do press F3 then F9 on the 4th page.

Also, FuSoYa didn't want his pipes published.

Stop hacking SMW. I'm sure Nintendo didn't want SMW to be emulated.

The point isn't to claim money. It's to honour one of our favorite games.

I might just be dumb right now, but I don't get your point... Nobody's trying to make money of anything here, and hacking SMW doesn't exactly mean honoring it. And if it did, taking FuSoYa's pipes would count as honoring too.
Anyway, jhcentrl... As the others said, you have to put the pipe graphics into the Graphics folder of your hack (uncheck "Options --> Use joined GFX files" and click on the red mushroom before doing that) and press F3 (not F2 as it says in the readme) to load the Map16 data to page 4. Then press F9 to save the data, click on the green mushroom to reinsert the graphics, and you're done.

Thanks for your response, WhiteYoshiEgg & mockingod. I have done this and still cannot get the graphics to load properly. I'll try and post a video later on exactly what I'm doing so that you guys can point and laugh and maybe tell me what I'm doing wrong. Once this gets resolved, I'll repost the video in tutorial format for the world to use (since I'm sure that this can be a hassle for other noobs like myself).
As for the rest of you:

I said "I assume you know how to insert ExGFX"
Because the GFX for this, should be like ExGFX. And how to insert it has something to do with the red poison mushroom.
Here, watch this

Hahaha! I've watched that probably four times already, five now that you've linked it to me! =D
So I should treat the included graphics as ExGFX instead of just replacing them in the ROMs graphics as per the readme. I'll try it out and let you guys know what I come up with.

Yes, I think the pipe GFX should be an ExGFX.

It makes you look like a total idiot, especially when you're wrong. In the case of a thread posting in a wrong forum, don't post for the sole reason to tell that the thread needs to be moved - a moderator can make that decision just fine.
This is my first attempt at getting help from the supposedly great community of SMW Hackers. Please keep don't backseat moderate. Thank you!

I think he thought that jhcentrl was "Backseat modding" when this was his own thread, he must've thought that jhcentrl was backseat modding when he said:

If its not about that, then I have no freaking idea what Lemmy is talking about.

Ok I've tried to get the graphics working on the custom blocks in multiple ways, through the way of the readme as well as through ExGFX. Perhaps there's something wrong with the files? I'm going to redownload and try again, but if that doesn't work, I've got videos prepared to upload to youtube that some people can look at.
EDIT: Ok I've solved it. And much in the same way I solved the issues I had with adding custom music originally. With these command line prompts, it is imperative to make sure that the folders you put these items into are simply named before you patch, otherwise the command line programs can screw up.
As promised, I will be making a video tutorial on how to implement this patch. Can someone PM me and tell me where I can post the link to the tutorial in?

Few people would notice it here though.
Anyway, I'm closing this now to prevent further off-topic-ness. jhcentrl, if you encounter more problems, just make a new thread.
