Tip: If you give a muncher tile custom graphics, it will still act like a coin when a silver P-switch is active, whether it looks like a coin or not. So make sure to use ExAnimation if there's a silver P-switch in the area.

The files sections (ExGFX, Music, etc.) of this site are not for you to submit joke files. It was funny that one time #extreme did it with the various food files (if you don't know, you don't need to know), but now it is just getting old. From here on out, offenders who waste our time with stupid files/purposely bad submissions will receive a nice extended ban. We have enough to moderate on our plate without having to deal with your attempts at wit as well.

Have an awesome day.

FINALLY, someone's put a stop to joke files. There's been pointless things like SMB1 Title Screen, Big Mac, Big Mac with Fries, etc. It's so annoying!

THANK YOU S.N.N.!!!!!

@ 2technogeeks
Well it won't stop for always. Maybe sometimes you get a joke-file. Or Joke-request.

It's not funny....

Thanks S.N.N./staff for making this useless thread
You're right! :3

I'd also like to remind you that 'special days' are no exceptions. Go find some other pranks for April Fools' or something.

Finally, someone pointed that out.
I was already tired to browse in the ExGFX sections and find things such as those.

You rock.
Thanks SNN. I believe it gets very annoying for the hack mods when submitting other things not related to SMW.

EDIT: ninja'd

And on another note, could everyone only submit good hacks?
Thanks.

People just need to read the Hack submission guidelines and newcomers shouldn't just join the site to submit their hacks.

Ontopic: To be honest I haven't seen any joke files, I saw a screenshot but that was it.

I assure that SMWC hack list got shorter because hacks get deleted for the slighest reason possible. Like: Incorrect corner tile, hard levels. (not mentioning unfair or Kaizo)

Every hack I go to the hacks section always have those minor errors that a hack moderator skipped from the before.
In my oppinion: Gameplay > Graphics.

"Your hack has been denied. Why: incorrect corner tile, this cement block makes cutoff."

No doubt why the hack removal log got so stretched. If this is wrong, someone please correct me.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. When my hack was removed, I got interested in watching the hack removal log. Now I know what to not do to make my hack get accepted.

I'm glad you've put a stop to the joke files. They were getting annoying.

Can Mods/Admins View/Edit/Delete our files?

Edit: Double Ninja'd!

Just because SNN posted the thread does not mean that he is solely responsible for the new "rule". I'm sure he discussed it with the other staff and such. My point: Don't just thank SNN, the rest of the staff deserve thanks too.
As I was saying:

I pointed out these.
Well, the reasonable hack moderators are: The Kins, yoshicookiezeus, WhiteYoshiEgg, andy_k_250 and Domiok.

It's not about cutoff here and there - when a hack gets removed because of one of the errors you mentioned, there are always more issues that cause it to be rejected. Stuff adds up, you know.

Nothing's removed solely because of one black line next to a W or because of one single wrong corner. We're simply telling the authors what to fix to reduce the number of issues and increase the overall quality of the hack.

(Also, since when was this thread about discussion of hack moderation? Seems like every rule/moderation thread eventually turns into that.)

This.
Once I saw a hack removal with.. hmm.. like 2 'reasons'. They were pretty minor (cut-off and puzzle stuck). I don't remember who it was.
If a hack gets removed, its not because of little tiny things like that, its because of something bigger, like a game breaking glitch or something. Now, it is a lot more helpful to the creator to point out little things like that so they can fix them, and make the hack look better overall. If all the removal log said was "I can't move on after this level" its not very helpful, and the creator would only fix that one glitch, submit again with all the little problems, maybe get accepted, then get bashed by the community saying how horrible their hack looks with all these bits of cutoff and such. They'd be thought of as lazy, when really there was a problem with the moderator not mentioning these in the removal log.

tl;dr Its best to mention little fixes while pointing out the big ones, so the hack doesn't have to go through the moderating process a billion times.

Also, I thought this thread was about joke submissions, not moderating hacks. >.>

E] Heh,

Lemmy, please show us the removal log you're talking about.

Oh ok. But... By the way. Why are there hacks in the list that EVEN break the hack submittion guidelines?
As many moderators say, "play some featured hacks to see how a good hack is". I saw that and played it. "Rob-omb quest Hard". I can't see how it escaped from the moderation.

This is against the guard-lines, but on the other hand, this hack is as ancient as Chaos Complexx for example, so I don't think this hack should get rejected.

I guess this one was made a long time ago, and is considered 'grandfathered' into the featured hack section.
That hack specifically is one of the older hacks around. Hacks back then had lower standards, and should not be put against our modern standards, especially since most of those hackers are inactive. Even if they were active though, the hacks would still stay. It's also a matter of preserving these hacks, and their "historical" value.

EDIT: meh

Understood. No more need to explain. Thanks.
Very good. :) Now let's get back to the original topic ("joke submissions") please.
