A vanilla hack is a hack that only used that which is given from Super Mario World. That means no custom blocks, music, or graphics.

It has been debated what exactly defines a vanilla hack, though. Some say that YY-CHR and Map16 are allowed as long as they use the original SMW graphics. Others say that Lunar Magic is the only tool that is allowed, and no Map16.

A Vanilla hack is basically a hack that uses Nothing New.
- No ExGFX From other games
- No Custom Sprite
- No Custom Blocks
- No Custom Music
- No Patches
- No Hex Edit's

All it can use is just the original SMW Stuff. Note: You can have ExGFX but it can only be GFX from SMW (meaning you can rotate graphics and other stuff.) You can also use Custom Palette's

Vanilla with Chocolatey top- Mostly SMW GFX but with some custom stuff

Strawberry-Another name for the above ^

Chocolate- All Custom

Or Vanilla with Chocolate Sauce. Thats the same as Strawberry, though.
