I'm new to the site and I'm not so experienced with the Znes emulator or any for that matter. But whenever I download a ROM hack such as TKO, it keeps saying that it failed. :/ What can I do to fix this so I can play this game? Please PM me if you need to go into deep detail.

Well for starters, wrong place. You're new though so that's ok.
Anyways welcome to SMWC, glad to meet you. Everyone here is nice (mostly) so anyone would be happy to help you with any future problems.
Anyways, on to the question.
Does it not play at all or does it play but at the beginning say bad chksum? If second choice, then never mind that, nothing major.
Edit: I wasn't trying to back seat moderate either, just helping out a new comrade.

I had figured I was in the wrong place. Suppose that's my fault for not looking around the site, heheh...
Anyways, no. It does not play, it's just the black screen with some of that info at the bottom of it.

Your ROM is most likely unclean. Try redownloading it, then patch it again. Just don't post any ROMs here, as they are illegal.

Did you patch it correctly? Example did you:
Get a clean rom? (not giving out links, it's illegal, google it)
Use Lunar IPS and when the window came up, clicked apply, found the IPS, opened it, found the clean SMW ROM, opened it, and patched?

I got it from ProntonJonSA. I had watched his Let's Play of it and used the link in the description. How would I patch it?

Just do what I said in the last post. You can find Lunar IPS in the tools section. If it doesn't work, google for a new smw rom and hope it's clean.

Also, if you patch the IPS to the rom, make sure the ROM isn't the same name as the IPS, as it may cause problems.
Assuming the original rom is clean, of course.

One thing that I will add, which I recall posting somewhere else, is that you can use the clean rom verifier which checks to make sure that the rom is clean. Also make sure that your rom is 512 mb version and not the 513 version, as apparently there are a couple problems with that form of rom.
Edit: Please see posts to follow.

Um...? I assume you mean 512 KB, but I've always used the 513 ones, and I've never had any problems with them. (Also, you did open the ROM in the emulator, not the IPS, right? I've seen a couple of people do that.)

Whoops, yes I do. I don't have a clean rom in front of me and I don't actually know the different sizes of the roms off the top of my head.
To add I also had the 512 and 513 KB mixed up as well. The 512 KB ones are to be headerless, which causes a form of problem when patching. Meaning that the 513 KB one is to be the one to use. So you are correct yet again, imamelia. Sorry for the mix-up.

What I do, which is very easy, is first open the unedited new rom in lunar magic, go to file, expand rom, expand rom to 4mb, once its done, patch the rom, and your good to go.

We're talking about IPS patching, not xkas patching. Expanding the ROM to 4 MB before patching would screw up the result, and even if it did work, it'd just be an extra worthless step.
