I haven't been paying any real attention to A2MT progress for a while, so I have no idea what's going on with other levels. If I find a set of enemies I like enough (fat chance), I might try it out. Shell Bros are staying, though.
QuoteAnd why is it called "Mountain climb" when the whole level is going sideways, I'd rather expect a vertical level.
All of my ASMT-related videos have something to do because I never settled on a name I liked (see the description).
QuoteThe small section with the three Furbas at ~1:30 looks rather pointless to me, why don't you add something else there, like a little on/off shenanigan with a blue Koopa like seen before?
Thought never crossed my mind.
Quote1:56 looks a bit empty as well, add maybe a platform above with a blue koopa and a shell again. Actually there's an overall lack of sprites in that sublevel or at least ~2:25.
QuoteThere also are a few plain stretches of flat land that you could spice up with a few floating ledge-bridge thingies because floating things make everything look pretty and action-ish (I'm serious here).
Depends.
QuoteYou actually should add more decoration in the whole level, as seeing the background on like 80% of the screen isn't too great imo.
Level decorations are usually the last thing I do. Not to mention changing the palettes to the FG/BG.
QuoteI also guess you can't fix any of the graphical issues because it's A2MT and you have to wait for global changes or something. (Also the P-Switch is by me *coughcough*)
I'm going to use ExGFX and a custom falling platform disassembly sprite to take care of all of the graphical glitches.
QuoteWAS THIS THE KIND OF CRITICISM YOU WERE HOPING FOR
Hopefully the above two people don't try and say "Well... well, what Leod said!" See you two, look how hard that was!

i assure you i'm not going 'apeshit'. you don't have to get defensive bro. you posted in this thread looking for criticism, and i told you what i thought-- the level is too long. if you can't understand that i'm implying to shorten your level, then i guess i should be more clear. shorten your level.
the only response to criticism in this thread should be 'thanks for taking the time to tell me what you think', and that's all. grow up. people aren't always going to have the same opinion.

That means cutting something out. Give me an example of what section(s) I should cut to make the level "better". If I cut a "wrong" part out, it can potentially make my level "worse". You just can't simply make a level shorter and all of a sudden it's better.
Sometimes saying things like "make your level shorter" isn't going to be enough. Yes, some people would prefer others to go into detail.
Quotethe only response to criticism in this thread should be 'thanks for taking the time to tell me what you think', and that's all.
Says who? So if someone where to give another person some blunt (negative) feedback, but don't go into detail on why or how to improve it (or in general is just flat-out worthless), that person shouldn't be allowed to try and get some more detail out of them?
Would you rather them discard your comments altogether instead and nothing changes or gets solved?
Would you rather them try to address your criticism, but because you were never that descriptive, they try to fix something that wasn't broken and in turn make their end result even worse?
I do not believe in the philosophy of just sitting there and taking it. If I take issue with your criticism of my stuff, I'm going to let you hear about it.
Quotegrow up. people aren't always going to have the same opinion.
I have nothing against differing opinions.

huh so if your palette was too dark and i said 'make your palette brighter', you'd want me to tell you the exact hex value of what i think they should be? no thanks, make your own hack and figure it out. i'm done with this little chat. if you want to complain more, send me a private/personal message. i'm not going to respond to you anymore on this subject.
on topic:

how's my ow? ignore the black part by the hair.

Something like "Make the palette brighter" instinctively employs common sense much better than "make the level shorter". Not to mention a lot easier to address and fix if something isn't up to snuff.
Quoteno thanks, make your own hack and figure it out.
Or I can just discard all useless criticism.

You were much better off "dropping the subject" silently.

Hello everyone! I would show pictures of my Yoshi's House

This is a common landscape.

And this is the same photo but with a tone of sunsets. Can not decide between the two But anyway, I just want to show it. @Ixtab:Very good! I really enjoyed it. But there are some cut-offs on the right (in the girl's hair).

Oh great! Nador Quest was a really unique game, I'm glad it's being continued!
...Wait a second, did you hack the status bar that much or is that a Super Metroid hack? I cannot tell, everything looks like SM, but unless you actually decided to change the thousands of frames of animation Samus has... Now I'm REALLY curious for more info.

As I doubt anybody will check my hack thread but I would still like some constructive criticism on my level.

To be honest, through the whole video I was like "Oh shiznit, this ones going to beat mine." Then came the ending. That, it was just way too short. It had tons of potential too

Wow, now these are really great news. Nador Quest was one of my favorite hacks back then, and probably it was between the firsts I ever downloaded from the site. It's pretty awesome that you decided to continue it, I'm sure you'll do a great job. Good luck with this project, Lexou.
@FP: I think, it's not too hard to change the status bar to something like that. Metroid HP patch, SMB3 speed patch and 6-digit coin patch, with graphical changes and black background (with Status Effect, it's pretty easy to do). But it looks awesome indeed.

The first level of the "first" world of my hack:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/v-xsev5GSg8?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/v-xsev5GSg8?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I am aware of and plan to fix both the slowdown in various spots, and the currently icky level end sequence. I skipped most of the underwater part in the second half, too, so not all of the level is shown. I say it's the "first" world in quotes up there because the first submap is actually only two real levels, one short plainsy level leading to Toad Town, and Peach's Castle (Toad Town isn't really a level so much as it a hang-out for a ton of NPCs). Then it's off to the main map. (you use STORYLINE as the vehicle for getting there)

Forest frenzy:

I have fixed a few obvious errors since I last recorded this level.

Two headed yoshi: Very nice level. Realy like your palletes. I didn't get the rocket part though, and like flare said, it's a bit short. Good level overall
Extroble: Wow! Very very nice level you have there. Graphics + music = awesome! I like your eay of designing levels alot. But one thing I don't understand: Why can you spin jump on munchers?
JDC: Great level you have there! Chocolate Flavour is realy one of those hacks with potential. Music fits in very well too. I like how you put the tree's in the BG in the FG too. Gives a feeling that the forest is big.

Here are some screens from the first level of Pipe City. The level is still unfinished.

The main part of the level. It's full of different types of Piranha Plants.

The first sublevel. That's WhiteYoshiEgg's FLUDD sprite. Originally, Gaddly's comment about FLUDD in the Ruins Secret Area was going to be just a reference to Super Mario Sunshine, but seeing WYE's custom sprite here gave me the idea to do this. You need FLUDD to access the secret exit.

Even the sublevel is infested with Piranha Plants. Good thing Yoshi's stomach is a bottomless pit. XD

THY: WHAT DID THAT LEVEL HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING!?!?!?
V: Nice screenies but I'd change the BG palletes in the first screenshot and the FG palletes in the other two.
JDC: Please please please change the music. That song is so overused it's actually become annoying for me...
