Do you play SMW (As well as SMW Hacks) with a Keyboard or Controller?

I play using Keyboard using this Key Configuration:

Up : W
Left: A
Down: S
Right: D (who doesn't use the standard "WASD"? lol.)

B: K
A: L
Y: U
X: O

Start: B
Select:V
L:Q
R:R

Notice that "Y" (U in my keyboard) is further away from all other action buttons on the keyboard. This allows me to isolate my index finger for holds while using the "X" button (using my ring finger) for shooting fireballs and swinging my cape. So I can hit enemies WHILE running top speed! ;)

Notice too that I use "B" and "V" for start and select, respectively. This allows me to use them with my thumb and not have to press the Enter Key all the time.

I use this in all emulated games; NES,SNES,PSX...
IMHO this is the best key configuration you could ever have! Try it!

I've allways used these controlers since I started plaing on emulators. Actualy those where the controlers used by my older brother, one day he allowed me to use his computer to play, and I kept the same configuration so I just got used to it and when I got my own computer I used that some configuration.

A,S,D,C,F and V are close to each other, so I can easly reach them with my left hand, while I use my right hand to press the arrows.

I use a Gamecube USB controller. Too bad I can only have one player at a time.

Before I had that, I used the keyboard also. I used:

Z = A Button
X = B Button
A = L Button
S = R Button
Enter/Ctrl = Start
Arrow Keys = Move and Jump and Crouch
default:
up-up
down-down
left-left
right-right
b-x
a-c
y-z
x-v
left bumper-q
right bumper-w
start-enter
select-backspace
turbo:
b-n
a-a
y-m
x-s
misc. keys:
save state-alt
reload state-shift
rewind-ctrl

yup.
I play hacks on my Wii. I use the Classic Controller with the same configuration as the original game.

Also, moving this to Emulation. We had threads similar to this one over at that forum.

X - L
Y - K
L - ;
R - .
Select - Right Shift

Right - Right

Start - Enter
Select - Right Shift

FFD - `
Rewind - Tab

Faster - +
Slower - -
Reset Speed - Backspace
already a thread for this somewhere. I think it's in Gaming.

EDIT AT UMA BELOW ME: You could've just written "I USE THE ZSNES DEFAULT HURF DURF DURF"

i fail so much whenever i try to use the keybord, mainly because it only takes a maximum of 2 inputs at once #w{:s} so i got a USB controller, and has enouth buttons for all the snes keys, and save / load state and slow down / fast forward, so it's very useful.

For SNES:

Up - Up
Down - Down
Left - Left
Right - Right

B - X
A - D
Y - Z
X - S
L - C
R - V
Select - Space
Start - Enter
For smw I use this configuration:

up - up arrow
down - down arrow
left - left arrow
right - right arrow

B - B
A - G
Y - V
X - C
L - Z
R - X
Start - space
Select - N

I use the index finger to control jumping because that is the most important button and my index finger will have the best control over it. Since you only ever need to press one of either A or B to jump I use the same finger to cover both of them. Similarly, I use the little finger to cover both left and right scrolling since you only ever need to press one of those buttons at a time, and because they are the least important buttons and the little finger is the worst finger. I use different fingers (the middle and ring) to cover the two run buttons because sometimes they need to be pressed at the same time, such as to shoot fire while carrying something.

I'm interested in the reasons why other people have chosen their configurations. Some seem very odd to me.

up- w
left- a
down- s
right- d
a- h
b- j
x- k
y- l
R- y
L- u
Start- Right enter button
select- the shift right under it (ie the right shift button)

rewind- e
fastforward- "`/~" button
savestate- g
loadstate- h
choose state- z
talk- t

I'm all over the keyboard because my laptop allows me to press more than two buttons only with ZSNESW v 1.42
I know I haven't seen this keyboard config:
S key=A
B key=B
F key=X
Y key=Y
X key=L
NUMPAD 0=R (for Brutal Mario stuff)

Enter=Start
Rightshift=Select

R key=savestate
T key=loadstate
Minus sign=Rewind
Leftshift=FF
Z key=slowdown

I use a similar setup for every system since I'm so used to it.
