Tip: Bad things to do in the title demo: Enter a door or a pipe, activate a P-switch or a star, complete the level, hit a message block, or die. These will either glitch the music, or force the player into an endlessly looping title level until they reset the game.

I decided to take a break from Super Mario World TFC so I decided to to a mini-hack with Luigi as the main character. Almost all the graphics are vanilla and there is same custom music and a few custom sprites.

Plot: Luigi fell into a volcano by accident and YOU gotta help him! After getting out he finds out Reznor has invaded the land with his minions.

What needs to be done:
Final touches before sending to testers.

Screenshots:

Intro Screen

Volcano Sublevel

Main OW

Level 1

The BG palette has been fixed.

Level 2

Secret Level 1

Blue Switch (Used to be Red Switch but I found out the blocks that appear in the OW after pressing the switch use one of the player palettes)

Level 3

Level 4

Level 5

Ghost House

I change the boss room up a bit.

Secret Level 2

Level 6

Level 7

Level 8 (Last level before Reznors Fortress)

It uses a custom BG if you didn't notice.

Comments/advice would be appreciated.

I dont really like the background palette of level 1. Also, what is with that third Yoshi Coin in the status bar? It has a horrible palette. Oh, and you should make the time limit a bit longer, as the level doesn't seem like a "race against the clock" type level.

Other than these problems, I think this hack looks pretty good.
1. Specify which colors could be changed and to what.
2. The bad palette on the Yoshi coin also affects the to half of the 2nd digit of the bonus star number. I'll do my best to fix it.
3. Changed time from 250 to 300.
I would suggest making the time 350. Because if you add 50 seconds, then you will have 90 seconds at the end of the level, if you add 100 seconds, you will have 140 seconds, making the player not rushed.
When I was taking the screenshots I was taking more time. I tested the level with 300 and I still had 178 left.
How to fix the palette glitch with the status bar Yoshi Coin:

When using the status bar editor, make sure you're using the yellow palette (or the palette you want the counter to be) and not any other palette when placing an empty space near bonus star, yoshi coin, life, time, coin, and score counters.

You also need to fix the cave background palette and reduce the blockiness of your level. Add some slopes. ;)

I fixed the status bar problem along with changing the item box color to white and changed the BG palette. Also here is a shot of the first screen of the second level with a custom sprite.
The BG palette is still icky. Use gradients (Alt+Right click) to make your custom palettes look nicer.
um, it says that all your pictures have been moved or deleted :\
you might wanna fix that, or if you moved them to an album, re-link the photos.
Like Hobz just said, do something about the missing screenshots, and you will have my feedback. But I do like the premise so far :D
New BG palette:

Re-added the other SS.

The palette of the background has made an amazing improvement. It looks amazing!
The screenshot for level 2 is much better than those of level 1. As long as you use gradients you should be fine. By the way is this only supposed to be one world?

Return the favor for my hack "Super Mario: The Epic Journey". Look at the most recent post and tell me what you think.

Inside the volcano there are 5 levels and outside there are 7. It's basically 2 small worlds IMO.

It's not a good idea to advertise your own hack "in exchange" for helping them out. Hack threads aren't for advertising. Besides, most people will think about you negatively when you do that.

Back on topic, that is much better. Gradients go a long way.
You have to make at least one level involve P-Balloons. I command it.

...It looks fine. It's pretty nice-looking for a vanilla hack, actually. I don't have anything against vanilla hacks, of course, considering they're all I can make right now, it's just the background palette you're using is prettty (the new one).

More Screenshots of level 2 posted. See first post.
Well, a nice hack indeed so far. I suggest to change the FG pallet to a more red-brown. But if you like the original one, that's fine with me.
I have posted a ton of new screenshots. Also if you want to test my hack when it's finished just post a reply saying so.
