Star Fox Adventures:
I'd heard some...questionable reviews for that game, and some accused it of being Rare's worst title. It was not, and while it was hardly a traditional Star Fox game, I love it to this day.
Shadow the Hedgehog:
This game had the worst advertisement (Shadow's back and he has a gun!) I was pleasantly surprised by the game, which felt much more like a Sonic game than even Sonic Heroes.
James Bond: From Russia With Love
This one caused me the most anxiety, as it was such a departure from traditional James Bond games. I was relieved to find that it was a very good game; it wasn't Goldeneye or Nightfire, but it was much better than I'd feared.

I would have to say Henry Hatsworth for the DS. I thought it would just be a kids game judging from the box, but I was completely wrong. The game quickly become more difficult after the 1st world, especially the bosses. I find the challenge of it really enjoyable.
It's a much better game than I first thought. I still play it loads now.

Super Paper Mario- I had thought, "Another 2D Mario game? Junk." But I got it anyway. When I played it, "Awesome! Better than the others!" The only things I didn't like were:
A. The intro when you start a file is too long. I ended up pressing 2 every half a second just to get through it!
B. On chapter 3-3, you need to catch 1,000,000 Rubees. Hear that? 1,000,000 Rubees! And they're really hard to get!

I assume you mean chapter 2-3.
In any case, there's a safe which contains 1,000,000 rubies. Theoretically, you'd only have to get 10.100 rubies to gather all the information about it.

Mario Party Advance.
After seeing some very bad reviews for the game, I thought it was rubbish but when I got the game last year, I thought it was quite good!

Super Mario Galaxy 2. I didn't think it would flat out suck; I just thought it was going to be a boring rehash of what was already in Galaxy 1. I'm actually quite enjoying the game, however! My only problem is the steeper difficulty curve, especially with the bosses are REALLY FREAKING HARD early in the game.
