Didn't you hear? The hack's complete! Just needs beta-testing by our primary. No more need for the Demo. I've already requested its removal too, so don't go looking for such an outdated piece of work, when the complete version is much better!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original Post
Ah, yes... finally... one of us decided to make a thread for this. Okay, so everybody knows of Metalgearhunter and I's first hack, right: The Crater. We've tried over and over to redo it, but it never worked. Why? Because we were basing it off of the same trashy hack we made about... 4 years ago? Well, if you've played the demo, you'll see that the whole thing has been absolutely changed, from top to bottom.
The Crater is originally (and still is) the hack that introduces Hunter and SCORPION in the Devious Four Chronicles.
--Whats happening with this hack since D4 is over?--
Well, for one thing, Devious Four Chronicles is Metalgearhunter and I's creation. Whilest Chikane and Sniggerbobble are out, (for personal reasons, don't bother asking them about it) that doesn't mean the the Chronicles are over.
If you've played the demo we've released, you'll see the final level in the demo is "Randor's Tower", well, we've changed that, since the villians of Randor and Sniggerbobble are not allowed to be used anymore. It is changed to "Racter's Stronghold".
Speaking of Racter (and Magna) yes, they are going to be in this hack. They are basically the Randor and Sniggerbobble replacements, although both do have different personalities from the two. I think you'll be pleased with the changes we are going to make.
--Plot--
Well, we haven't the slightest idea of what happens before hand, (yet) only thing we know is that Mario defeats Racter at the end of "D4C#2: Magna Meltdown" which isn't made yet.
--
"Racter is defeated by Mario, who seems to have empathy for him. Racter, as a last resort, calls forth the last two known Devious Four Members. Afterwards, Racter leaps into everlasting darkness. In Six Months time, the two would show.
After around six months passed, a meteor hurled towards the Mushroom Kingdom, burning through the daylight sky. Everything darkened. All life take shelter in an underground haven. The meteor crashes... and all hell breaks loose from there on."
--
Basically, almost everybody knows who Hunter and SCORPION are. Two aliens who want nothing more to destroy for thier own enjoyment. However, Mario doesn't see that along the way of figuring out the two's plans. He runs into some unexpected help. The help... you'll see in the most recent video. (down at the very bottom)
-- Humor --
Along the way in mid game, you'll have to stop many different plans and tactics Hunter and SCORPION have to throw at you. The one thing that you'll really notice about Hunter and SCORPION in this thing: is that they will constantly turn away from the subject (talking to Mario) and talk to each other about other, less important things. Do note that a lot of the time though, you should listen to them as they either argue or tell each other about something that is going to appear in the near future to come.
The two of them will argue to each other sometimes, but they will mostly talk to eachother about thier future plans (in the hack) as if Mario (and his help) weren't there at all. I myself love it when the two of them converse in like this.
-- Story Warning --
This hack is majorly based on Storyline, so expect about 30% of the entire game to be cutscene based, mostly Hunter and SCORPION conversing. Luckily, for those who love playing the game more than reading, there is a lot of game play that the player will go through as well. Also, there is a way to skip cutscenes (since there are 8 buttons on the SNES Controller, it shouldn't be too hard to figure what the skip button is)
However, if you want to truly enjoy hack, read the cutscenes... and get yourself a lot of good laughs.
-- Content --
Well, I'm sure you are tired of reading, so I'll show off some content to end this information train. Enjoy!

Green Videos are by S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N. (myself) and Blue bordered vids are by MGH. All from this hack ofcourse.

--The Demo--
The Devious Four Chronicles #3: The Crater
DO NOT RIP ANYTHING FROM THIS HACK.
Also, if you play this 2 world demo. I strongly urge you to tell us what you think should be changed, and we'll see about considering it. DO NOT say anything about Randor's existance in it, for that is being dealt with. We also ask you to rate and atleast review.
Thank you for reading and have a good day.

That's loads of awesomeness S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N.! The first screenshot has a coloured box around Mario that's not coloured correctly.

Wow this great! I see only one issue...
In the screenshot of the overworld, there is a box around Mario which is discolored.

As long as magna and racter are not complete clones of Randor and Sb and the 2 games before the Crater have no similarities with the Randorland saga in any way (Story, powers, plot etc.) then I'm fine with the replacement.
But I'll keep an eye out.

I can guarantee you this Chikane. Magna and Racter aren't going to be total clones of Sniggerbobble and Randor, that I will assure you.

wow those screenshots are amazing, I also enjoyed the demo, the levels were enjoyable and the plot is very interesting (no surprise with a D4 hack). I noticed one thing looking at the screenshots, The drone seems to have a health bar, but will all the bosses have the same thing?
EDIT: looking forward to see racter and magna.

World 3 - Level 4
Everybody knows what this is... A BRAMBLE LEVEL! Yep, I got tired of making the same land level, and decided to make a not-so-evil Bramble Level. As you'll see, there are a lot of secrets to this level, most of which, will not be shown. You will get to see the bonus room atleast and two or three dragon coin locations.
I know I'm sounding a little desperate here, but please remember to give some feed back, tell me what you'd like changed.
BTW, my Metalgearhunter made the Bramble Graphics, I only made the square block, the vines, and the platforms you stand on/hit.
<object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1i-sVhxz9v0&hl=en_US&fs=1?color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1i-sVhxz9v0&hl=en_US&fs=1?color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525"></embed></object>
EDIT: Changed the title to "Bramble Level", basically because I didn't want to sound like I was desperate for attention. Besides, the level only took two hours to make.

Fantastic level design and graphics. I really like how you build up this level - somewhat reminds me on the original Brambles levels in DKC2, but still "Mario-tastic" design elements. The little secret stuffs all over the places are all good ideas, and the "section variety" (various level design parts) is pretty wide, which is always good.
The brambles graphics reminded me a bit on Yoshi's Island's castle foreground graphics, which is also good, I quite think YI graphics fit to your hacks very well. I have to say this brambles tileset amazed me pretty much, very nice work on it, Metalgearhunter.
And as always, the sprite graphics are very well made too. My personal favorite is the Spiny replacement, you've done a great job on that. And of course, the well-known orange-black-ish base colours are true for this level too.
I'd mention a few "nitpicks" of this level though - they aren't problems or errors at all, just my own little opinions, how could you make this level a bit better. Obviously, you don't have to take these suggestions, but I think I'll drop them here anyways.
First, the music choice - it's an amazing port (I also made a video about it), it's used in the original DKC2 Brambles levels, so it's not a wonder that people start thinking immediately on this port, when a brambles level is mentioned. Still, I don't really think this port would fit to this level too much. That's probably just my taste though - but this level is too "dark" for this music, and not enough mysterious. Although I can't suggest a better music for this level for now (it's pretty hard to decide, true), so the best if you leave it as it is. Just a thought.
Another thing, that I think your star music is a relatively bad choice. For a star music, I'd pick a bit more upbeat or "cheer-ish" music. I understand you go for the rock-ish dark music, but in my opinion you could find a better one. In my opinion, Bossin' Me Around doesn't fit to a star music at all.
And lastly, I think the lack of the background makes the level a bit...boring. The level design can be very good and complicated, but a background (or just a bigger HDMA gradient - or fake ExGFX, I don't know which one do you prefer) can make the level a lot of more interesting, entertaining. For now, that little purple gradient is not too much. I recommend you adding a background, but of course, the level will be good without it as well.
Oh, and one more thing: you should set the layer 1,2 initial positions to higher at the beginning of the bonus level. It's starting too low.
So overall, I'd say, very very nice work on the level, and I look forward seeing more of this hack.

Very nice content you have here Scorpion and Metalgearhunter! I'm gonna say the bramble level looks decent, and the bramble graphics themselves are juicy. The only issue is that infinite time + vines/nets + bullet bill launchers = infinite lives, though you would have to make a lot of changes to the level to circumvent that issue... I don't really have an alternative for you, just wanted to point that out.
I do agree that having a background would be nice though, maybe some brambles in the BG with a different palette?
edit: Since I can't double post, I'll make this an edit. I felt like I should say more about the monstrous 2 (video) part level.
The Capitallarium is only ok in design. PLEASE find an alternative to the forced deaths, as those can be instant removal reasons and they aren't good level design. Why not make a side-exit or something so you can still keep the boss level changing effect? That seems to be the only way to keep the idea and to keep it fair. What if the player had a small amount of lives?
Also, the Final Fantasy music really fit well in the moving platform segment, but for such a long segment it can get kinda' repetitive.
Other than that it looks like a challenging level, fitting for an endgame level. Just PLEASE fix the forced death areas, and it'll be much more appealing.

~Ahaha
It's about time we got some comments in this... and at that detailed ones. I'll put "Hadron's" post into a notepad and review later on tonight. The Background... there'd be more, but pallete issues. If anybody has a background recommendation, please let me know; because I myself... am getting tired of looking at it.
The capitallarium... Metalgearhunter will do something about that. For some reason, if the Side Exit is used... when you re-enter the level: Mario starts back at the beginning. Wierd much maybe? Both of us are right now working on that actually. However, you don't have to worry about the whole capitallarium thing right now, as that will not be in the next demo.
Another demo? Yeah, a 3-world one actually. But why are we updating so fast? The reason is this: we need to drastically change the story, since Randor and Sniggerbobble are not in this anymore, we will soon shortly update with a more plot friendly version of the hack, +7 more levels.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RACTER AND MAGNA: FINALLY REVEALED!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, Metalgearhunter and myself have been emphasizing a lot on the case of Racter and Magna, the two replacements for Sniggerbobble and Randor in the Devious Four Chronicles. While these two will play the roles that SB and R did in before, Racter and Magna both are very different from Sniggerbobble and Randor.
Now, time to reveal what these two bad-asses look like:

Racter is on the left, Magna is on the right.
I drew Magna.
Metalgearhunter drew Racter.
First off, Racter and Magna are serious people... they are not to be toyed with. Racter is very tense and is interested in ruling world.
Unlike Hunter and SCORPION, Racter wants to rule over the world, where as they both want to destroy it all. Racter is basically... a control freak. Racter also wears a mask, to hide out his true face. To be truthful, I myself don't know if what is show is actually Racter's face.
Magna is a lot like Racter. He wants to rule the world... well, with an Iron Fist. (Litterally, he has an Iron Fist) Magna is a cyborg with Magnetic powers, hence the name. Magna is himself a control freak, and only does tasks as long as it benefits himself.
Well, there you go... hope you enjoy the hack as more updates come in.

I think I know what Racter's true face is:

He wears a mask to give his foe a fighting chance
In all honesty though, they look epic! Can't wait to take em on!

That made me laugh. Though, that was a really good joke. Actually, you will get to see Racter's face in the next demo and at the end of Chronicles #1 and #2. He wears his mask alot.
Racter's Power.
I am going to explain his power so as not to make Chikane or Sniggerb0bble think he is some replacement with the exact powers. Racter, can temporarily copy the powers of anyone he comes in contact with. He is kinda like a copy man. Though he can copy powers, he has his own too. Now, to straighten this out, Racter can only copy ONE person's powers... If he comes into contact and decides to copy the powers of someone else before his last contact's powers wear off, his previous contact's powers are replaced with the new contact's... sounds simple enough, I hope.
@artsy
The side exit actually worked... once. I was using the midway point block and they worked, for awhile. But then, for some reason, it stopped working and I spent about 4 hours trying ways around this problem so I wouldn't go back to the beginning. Thing is, the self suicide was the only way it would work now...
To straighten this out about the removal, I already talked to Andy about this and he said it would be no problem seeing as how I give a 1-up before you die. I still hate this method, but so far, it is the only motive I can use for now. We will try again though, but I can't guarantee it can be fulfilled.
----A PLUS----
I was thinking of doing some little Cameo thing that Bonny was doing, except, I am doing REGULAR SMWC Users and not just picking them out b/c I want to. In world 4/5 (Depends on if you go to SCORPION's Iceburg first), Hunter's Focur, about 5 users will appear and give you some secret info on how to find a SPECIAL bonus room which will hold special Power ups. So, if you want in, just let us know, but only 5 will come in.

I find it kinda funny that the CREATORS of the series don't yet know some things going on.
Anyways, I'm really excited you two're continuing this. Can't wait to see more updates and play another demo! :D

Ah yes, the two of us would love to have a small bit of help from the community. Remember, Hunter and SCORPION both are a threat, and Mario and Alanea can't take them on alone in this. SMWC needs to help as well.
So, if you want a cameo appearace. All you need to do is post here saying "sure,"; however, that will not be enough. We need a discription of what you want yourself to look like. BTW, you can only be 16x32... afterwards, Metalgearhunter and I will do the rest.
@GoldenSonic15:
Care to fill us in? (By PM of course)

Although I (still) have not played any of the hacks in this series, I'm glad to see it's still up and running, and that the two of you are putting your full effort into remaking the series. Just take it easy and put all of the feedback you've gotten to good use. In all honesty, from the perspective of only reading about the stories, I liked the series better when Randor and Sniggerbobble were in it, but I understand the reasons the two duos have gone their own ways, and I'm sure that the new Devious Four Chronicles will be better than the original in every way, shape, and form. The content you've shown has been commented on plentily enough by the other members, so I'll just state my thoughts and some suggestions for how the series could be improved.
I have to say I'm impressed by how much the new cutscenes have improved from your earlier ones. I'm not huge on in-cutscene narration (e.g. "Drone 204 landed on the ground") unless the situation directly calls for it, but I see that it's the style here, and it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the cutscenes. The spelling and grammar has also improved, but there are still some occasional lapses like the misspelling of "destabilizing". I would suggest that, once all of the cutscenes have been written (before the second demo release and again before the next demo/final release), either go through and completely spell-grammar-check them, or possibly send the text to someone else who can fix the errors and offer improvements. There are a lot of people who follow your hacks; certainly at least a few would be capable of polishing the script.
Racter and Magna look nice, though personally, I think they look a little too similar...perhaps it's because they both have a red/blue/silver color scheme? Maybe change the colors on one of them.
Also, this isn't about The Crater in particular, but the series as a whole, and I thought this about the Legend of Randorland series before the split as well: It seems a little awkward to me that there's four Hunter's Revenge games, yet they're not in direct chronological order with respect to the Chronicles, and the "Hunter's Revenge" title causes the entire title of the game to become quite a mouthful (The Devious Four Chronicles #6: Hunter's Revenge 2 Recharged: Hunter Strikes Back...?) I would suggest simplifying Episode 9's title to just Retnuh's Fire and coming up with new names for Episodes 6 and 8, since they're pretty similar. In fact, just to possibly make less games that seem too similar to each other (although I don't know much about Hunter's Revenge 2 and 3, so I could be wrong about that), you might want to merge 2 and 3 into a single game. It would bring the total games in the main series to a nice and even 10 as well. Of course, since I don't know anything about this Four Orbs finale, this might not be the best option, but I'm just throwing it out there. I'm interested in finding out how the conclusion will tie everything up, however, since assuming you're keeping the same basic plot structure, the ending of The Black Hole doesn't seem like it could warrant any subsequent entries in the series...
As a last comment, I'm a bit confused as to who Alanea is...is she from another game?
Well, I hope my input has helped (it took me almost an hour to watch the videos, recheck the Wiki page, and write the entire post, so...it better have! XP) I wish the best for The Devious Four Chronicles and will await whatever you decide to do with it. And maybe, once it's more complete, I'll...play it? Gasp! I've played two hacks in this entire year, one of which was a demo! We'll see...

Yeah, what he said!
It's good to see the Chronicles are still going, even after SniggerBobble and Chikane left.
Once these Chronicles are finished, it'll look really cool to have 11 hacks (or 10 if you decide to go by what Reading said and merge 2 of them).
As for the cameo thing...
"sure"
I'd like to just be a custom-ey looking Lakitu, if that's OK. If not, then I'll have to think of something else... The hacks are awesome. Can't wait for next demo

-Hunter's Revenge thing-
I like what you said, but I would like to keep the title Hunter's Revenge in there, but just not in actual wiki title so it won't stretch pages. I keep the name because Hunter get's defeated in the crater (won't tell you how just yet) and wants revenge, hence the name. But since Hunter is not the one doing, but it is Retnuh doing everything, the Hunter's Revenge series is all explained and concluded in Hunter's Revenge 4 because when Hunter is finally free from Retnuh's control, he sets out to kill Retnuh (With Mario's help) and achieve his revenge. I hope that is understandable enough.
Now, I can't connect HR2 and HR3 simply because they are both pretty big games with big plot differences. HR2R is about Mario and Sonic stopping Hunter and Racter from kidnapping 5 powerful girls. Hunter (Retnuh really) wants to kidnap these girls and draw a similar power they all have, and once all that power is combined in one being, he will gain the power of "Dead Power". Though he gets killed in his 2nd stronghold, Hunter traps Mario and Sonic in the Cataclaysm. To get out, they will have to travel and battle Hunter's new minions (Slayge, Zylone, and Meldar) and bypass Hunter to get into the Cataclasm (not a typo) to escape the Cataclaysm.
In HR3, Hunter has absorbed enough power from all of the dead beings in the Cataclaysm to open a Cataclasm to send Zylone, Slayge, and Meldar into the real world, along with SCORPION, to suck up the energy of Earth to give Hunter the power to open the Cataclaysm to suck up the Mushroom Kingdom and escape the Cataclaysm (hence the name: Hunter's Return). Once Hunter escapes, All of the Ika lands are put into darkness and Mario must enter the Cataclaysm to get to the World of Nightmares (a pretty weird world) which the Barakin have been given control over. Once Mario destroys the Barakin Stronghold, a gateway further into the Cataclaysm opens up so Mario can go into a facility Hunter built named Hunter's Cataclaysmic Doom Portrayal which holds a machine that could open the Cataclaysm anywhere in the universe. You go into this facility, storm the 6 long levels (final levels) and beat Hunter at the end. But there is something different about this defeat. Since it is so far in a spirit realm, Retnuh's influence over Hunter is finally conquered and Hunter slowly returns to the being he once was before Retnuh possessed him. Mario turns Hunter into the Mushroom Kingdom, and since Hunter is slowly returning to his original ways (a good guy basically), he won't try to break out of the prison and sits in a lonely cell for about 6 months. Hunter is soon interrogated by the Royal Guard and Peach and Sonic realize the situation Hunter was in and they release him. About another 6 months, Retnuh is ready to freed from his body, but since he stayed in it for so long, he needs help from a D4 member, a member like Magna and Magna sperates him from Hunter. Hunter's Revenge 4 begins after that.
-About Racter and Magna appearace-
They do look almost the same, but different. The palletes are bit too matching, so we'll play around with them until they look more different. Thanks for pointing that out.
-Cutscenes-
We seem to just narrate alot simply because I write alot of fanfics... so... yeah, but it fits here too. But if you are simply not a plot person, you can always press the start button to skip a cutscene.
About sending the cutscenes, maybe SB might still be willing to do some spelling checks for us... I am sure he would. We are still friends after all.
-intro in game Crater-
I have changed the intro ALOT! Randor is now completely erased from the Crater, so we have no worries and can just continue like we would normally, of course following criticism.
@Construct101
Go ahead and draw an appearance of yourself if you must and send it when you can. You will appear in the first level of Hunter's Focur.
-About Alanea-
I made her up myself, though I ripped her appearance from Lise in Seiken Densetsu 3, and just combined some seperate palletes of the characters into her design. When I saw her, I knew she would be the perfect ally to have in the Crater, though you won't see her in other games past it simply because of Hunter.
So, her attitude, and name are all by me (Well, maybe some of her attitude was influenced from SD3 b/c she is a princess on that too, but not as cocky as she is on this).

~Ahaha
--About Alanea--
Alanea is a spoiled princess who has had a past "meeting" with Hunter and SCORPION on her home planet. She is introduced on the Crater. Alanea is cocky, sometimes praising herself and sees herself as the most important thing. Infact, it is her very attitude that sets up very humorous conversations between herself and SCORPION. You'll see SCORPION picking on her a lot in World 3, where she is first seen.
--Cameos--
I've never drawn a lakitu before, but I'll work on it. You'll appear in SCORPION's Iceburg somewhere in the third level. Is there anything specific about your lakitu form? You do need to look different from every other... regardless of the fact that a lakitu isn't even seen in this hack yet.
--The Black Hole--
I will have to make a lot of changes, but this mainly concerns cutscenes, and a few plot levels. No big changes. "The Black Hole" is infact going to be in two parts, mostly because one 4 MB isn't enough room for the story... and there is not enough overworld for it ~ahaha.
Either way, I'm already having trouble fitting more into the current rom... levels are skewering and crap.
--@GoldenSonic15--
If you are talking about Chikane and Sniggerbobbles thing they got going on in talk, then yes, we know about that. While we are watching it to make sure nothing is related to the Devious Four Chroicles, we are also watching because we would like to see how it turns out.
When I think about it, the split is probably the best thing we've done. While we are no longer affiliated, we are still friends. By the way, since we split, we all have the impression that we can now create more professional work. Metalgearhunter and I are brothers, so our series will intertwine a lot, that keeps things very simple for us.
Well, now that this info is out... I don't really want to drag anymore of their series into this.
