Yeah, not really a surprise. Silver Surfer BGM 1 surely is one amazing track. Nürburging Suite is also very awesome; I've been listening to it for quite a while now. Thanks Hadron, I wouldn't even know this song if you didn't vote for it. And of course, Buoy Base is simply one very beautiful track. I don't even care if it's overrated.
What a great idea this thread was. I hope we can have another VGM tournament somewhere in the far future, with perhaps some changes here and there.

Hahah! Even though I voted for Nürburging Suite, I am still pleased with the result. All three winners really deserved it, and, as GVS did, I must thank Hadron for introducing me to Nürburging Suite!
And I will agree with GVS on another point: it would be great if we could have this tournament again!

Yeah, must be a pretty easy contest to win when you rally up the same 10 friends to vote every single round within 5 minutes of each other. Good to see Captain Pissweak came out of inactivity to simply vote and leave too, that was a nice touch guys.
Fun contest though I guess, even though the winner was inevitable from the start. Out of curiosity Megafonzie, would you mind linking the post where I said I'd give out trophies for this? Perhaps my memory is foggy since it's been two years, but I don't recall ever mentioning it. I could be wrong though.

Actually, I didn't even want to vote for Silver Surfer half the time. Quizler even (jokingly) threatened to ban me multiple times because of my votes. Just because we all frequent the same channel doesn't mean we're all purposely voting certain songs through and invalidating the result of this tournament.
Hadron's track is great, yes, but I think that the Silver Surfer track was just a little better and pleasing to the ear. It was composed on a NES of all things and was deserving of the first place - a place which I think others would agree that it should have.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I love Follin's work to death, and I'm not unhappy with the song winning. Silver Surfer's soundtrack is fantastic and I have the whole thing downloaded. My problem isn't that it won, but rather how it won. When you have a constant wall of people voting for the same song (and I'm sure these people didn't even listen to the rival song half the time), then it sort of saps any excitement or interest people may have.
I dunno. That's my opinion on this contest. Take it with a grain of salt if it annoys you that much I guess.

Whether anyone "rigged" it or not, it sure feels that way. Again, it's just my opinion, so get over it. You and I always disagree on shit so we should be used to this by now, right? Riiiiight?
Back to the matter at hand though, trophies. If I said I'll give them out, I'll honor that, but I'll need to know which exact members chose Silver Surfer. I'm not fishing through a channel which has had people come and go over the course of two years in an effort to pick and choose who voted for something. If someone has a list of names, you can send me a PM with them. Thanks.

You know, to boost activity, I do also link the thread to people in #chanofice. They pay attention to the links more than #smwc does, so that may be why people from there all post soon after one another. Secondly, #chanofice users also voted for other songs, in other rounds. If you want me to, I'll just bump everyone else up a place, because it doesn't really matter.
Also, I'm suddenly wondering why you care so much now, S.N.N., when during the final round you were completely uncaring about the whole issue, which you said yourself that you knew about already. I'm not going to take this with a grain of salt because you kinda just came in and made what should be a happy little thing a lot more negative, and seemingly intentionally at the worst possible moment.
Either way, the list is just of three people: Bad Luck Man, BusterBeetle, and Daboys121. It's your choice to give the trophies to them anyway. Also, I haven't checked if this is okay with the three, but you can give the gold to Hadron and bump everyone else up if you want. If that's what you choose, then Hadron would get gold, ZMann silver, and mockingod bronze.
Or, don't distribute trophies at all. Either way, the point of this was certainly not some lame awards; it was to enjoy good music.

I still am uncaring. How many times do I have to say that I'm not unhappy with the Silver Surfer track winning? I think what really set me off more than anything was CP's post, because it was clear that he simply did it to tip the scales.

No, I'm going to give them the trophies. It's not like I suddenly hate the people who ran in and voted over this - it's a fucking virtual contest and all I wanted to do was make a point that I thought the tournament was relatively unfair at the end. I got over it like, 5 minutes after I made the post. Hell, I even had a small back-and-forth talk with Buster Beetle regarding my thoughts and everything is fine. All I wanted to do was express my thoughts.
That being said, you should take what I said with a grain of salt. I like to have my opinion heard, even when others don't want to hear it.
