well this'll be interesting. With both Kai and LD gone, I guess the 3 to beat are now NN, Jimmy, and myself .

I may as well enter. It's been a while since I've hacked Super Mario World(well, I've been working on the cutscenes in one of my hacks, but I'm not sure if that really counts...). Maybe it'll re-inspire me to make levels faster.
I probably won't win, though...

That's the spirit!
Anyways this may very well be the first hacking competition I'm going to enter. SMWCP got me pumped for one-shots like these, so hopefully me and Daboys can complete a high-quality level.
Unless you know, I get lazy and miss the deadline.

Hey, maybe I'll have something substantial this time. My last vanilla contest level was 217 screens long...think I should go for 300 this time? I can use multi-midway points now, so it would definitely make it easier to get through. Or I could partner up with someone...who, though?

^ This. That's the problem with these...I spend a month or two making a single level for something I know I'll lose, and then I don't have any use for it afterward.

No the problem with these are the fact that people don't go into it with their heart and soul. They expect to lose, and thus have a self-fulfilling prophecy. Tag (div) was not closed. Tag (div) was not closed.

You know, I'm not sure if I want to enter this time around. I'm not completely sure of what I want to do for my level either.
...Ah, screw it, I'm going for it. After all, I did well last year, especially since it was the first contest I entered on here, and trophies are on the line here!

Me and Maxwell are gonna try out hardest to make an awesome level!
Though, one thing: Stupid school.
Yes school, that will be a problem, especially because of homework, and staying up all night just finishing it. Luckily, I am pretty young, and youngsters these days get easier homework. And I know some pretty hard stuff.
With Maxwell's ASM skills, and my anonymous stuff skills, we can probably do pretty good. Putting into mind, that we actually finish it before the end of October. I was wanting to make this hack for a long time, but I never got the time/effort to do it.
Awesome.

Well, I expect to lose at everything anyway (or at least assume I will), so why would this be any different? Besides, it's not like I didn't try hard in both of the last two contests. Just as long as the winner isn't one of the people who says stuff like, "My level's gonna be so awesome. I got this in the bag!" *coughJimmycough*. I actually already have two ideas for this contest, the first of which I came up with very shortly after finishing the vanilla one.

Keep in mind that a long level isn't necessarily going to work in your favor. Look at Jimmy's level last year, and then compare it to one of the top three. While most thought that the gimmicks included were better overall, the fact that it carried on for far, far too long damaged the score.
It's a level contest. Not a full hack contest.

That is what I suggested to Maxwell, because I knew that having a long hack would bring down the score. Nobody wants to sit down at their computer playing something for a whole hour. Its common sense.
I would suggest to people who want to make a pretty awesome hack this contest to have a level that lasts around 15-20 of playthrough, and still have some cool stuff in between.
Also I know we were given two months. I am still complaining. Stoopid school.

I guess I could try to enter since I'm in a dead end with my advent hack.

Yeah...therein lies the problem. It might be slightly easier in some respects if it were a 1-level hack contest instead. I still think that multi-midway points would alleviate that problem to some degree, but I'll really just have to see what I can come up with and try not to make it too long or tedious.

Ah, this makes me much more comfortable than the vanilla contest, I feel that I can actually do something for this contest.

I might give this a shot. Nothing amounted from my previous LDC forays because of a lack of organization and preparation in advance. I'll just have to iron some things out while managing three other SMW ventures at the same time.
This is going to get bowling shoe ugly.

This is going to be fun.
Sadly I can't use any special asm stuff in it, which isn't on SMWC. Cause yeah I suck at ASM.
School is one problem.
But I will enter. And my goal is to be in the top 10.... Let's do it!
Alone of course
