I would like to present the first three chapters of a new book I've been working on.

Yet Untitled.

Technically, this book would be classified as Fantasy, but it is unlike any Fantasy book I have ever read. Confused? Read, and find out!

Commentary would be very much appreciated.

Why do I have the feeling this is set extraterrestrially? I'd almost shaken it off before the transport pads too, but who knows.

I guess I'll just have to wait for more.

Well written by the way.
I will be posting the next three chapters after they have been written. This book is open-source, and I do not intend to make money off of it.

Thank you, by the way, for reading it. Your reward is that you shall be put into the book somewhere. The site Administrators are already in there, so how hard could it be?
Heck, never even noticed that. You made it really quite obscure.

Heh! That gives me something to pick over on what you've written so far - work out who's who.
This book has received an update!

This thread contained a link to chapters 1-3. At C3, I released chapters 1-6. Now, after a long and harrowing few months, I am releasing chapters 1-9 for download.

Download Link

PLEASE NOTE: if you have been referenced in this book and wish to have said reference removed, please send me a PM!

Enjoy, and if you have any comments/suggestions, this is the place to provide them!

Pretty cool so far. Not much to say yet. 5 chapters left.

I demand that I'm in this as a porter
Wha- I'm writing a book too. Anyways, I'll update this post with my thoughts on after reading this update. Congrats on making it this far, though! (:
Jeez, Kadyastar, way to end the story (this installment, anyway) on a depressing note....

As I said at C3, though, I like it very much. I just noticed from your custom title that you'd updated it, and I was quite excited to read the new chapters. Good work so far, although I'm starting to think you're going a bit overboard with the SMWC references (unless that was the intention).
Yes, it was. The thing is, though, that people who aren't from SMWC would not even notice them.

I also took the names of the 'first Administrators' from Acmlm's board.
Well I just spent the past few hours reading this and I'm loving everything about it so far. The characters are brilliant and I can't wait to read the rest. I was wondering why the page wouldn't scroll any more when I got to the bottom. :(

I'd just like to point out some errors to help.

This has really got me in the mood for the production of Hamlet we're going to see for school tomorrow.
Thank you very much for pointing those out to me. I'll fix them up.

No new SMWC-styled characters will be in the next installment. SMWC may be a source of inspiration, but it can't be the focus of things.

The page would not scroll down farther because that is literally where I stopped writing.

I meant that I wanted the book to keep going. :P When I got to the end I didn't realise for a few moments. Can't wait for next update.

This novel was very exciting. I thought this was actually a sequel to a novel I've read before... I forgot the title... but this is surely a book of many perspectives.

First, I saw that it is kind of an unusual take on the study on in-groups and out-groups, aka the studies on so-called 'race' and racism. Each civilization opposes the other's existence.

Secondly, it can also show the degradation of culture and tradition, especially on the Sentiralites, the "forgetting their origin" stuff. It also tells unacceptance foreign conquest and (slightly) patriotism, but not to the extreme, which is quite good on the book's part.

Thirdly, it apparently tells the effect and "uneffect" of good diplomacy. Peace between the two civilizations is shown in caches. However, it tells of traitorship, teaching one not to trust just anybody.

Fourthly (wow I'm typing a lot right now I guess), it shows unethical treatment of Humans (and sometimes Sentiralites) by the other, and can actually symbolize Communism and other 'isms'.

Fifth, I thought that it can symbolize the fight between the mind's instinct and free will, with Sentiralites being instinct ('Humans are boorish and greedy') and Humans being free will.

Um, this is my opinion about the book. A great read it surely is.

And, uh, one question: Who was Forlani supposed to refer to?

Can't wait for next installment.
No one. It was a random collection of letters I threw down.

Also, this is an absolutely fantastic analysis, and you have raised points I never considered. I am very glad you enjoyed reading it!

The next installment will arrive by Spring C3 and will contain either three or four new chapters (depending on how motivated I am). That installment may be the last open-source installment I display, though, as I am considering selling the final product for $5/download. Does anyone think this has a chance of working?

What?!

Er..hem, I mean it would kind of work, although people who do not know anything about the SMW Hacking Resource sites (the other being Acmlm, the 'fora' (plural for 'forum', I think) might not be interested about it, especially the caches and stuff might not appeal to 'less computer-knowledgeable' readers. (Sorry for the slight discrimination NOOBS) Also, what about people who have a 'heartfelt desire' to see the complete story, but have no money to buy it online (like myself)? I know some people would say it's a nice deal already, since some books are worth more than $9.99 (more than or equal to $10), and the 'preview's' nice, but what about those without credit cards and/or PayPal Accounts?

Um, I apologize for overracting that one, but I guess it's better as open-source.

Thanks by the way.
