This is single handedly the best and worst thing ever added to Minecraft ever:

For those that don't know, this was part of this (I think?) week's Minecraft Development Snapshot... thingie. Get this one here. Individually they don't add too much, just a few bug-fixes and a few little tidbits that may interest you.
To elaborate on the screenshot, this update lets you spawn in any (more or less) mob whilst using creative. Could be dangerous, could be awesome, all depends on who uses it. Would be a great griefing/trolling tool though.
...Now I'm getting ideas.

You can add recipes with zombe's mod, specifically, the "recipe" mod (though the others are cool, too). It's all there in the readme.

Oh god I forgot all about the christmas theme guaaaaah
So anyway, I've enchanted… 6 diamond pickaxes now in an attempt to get Silk Touch-and hot DAMN is it a pesky one. Most of what I've been getting is Efficiency III which is kind of terrible for the amount of levels that go into the enchantments, But a zombie exp grinder has been helping to extreme extents, so eh.

I've enchanted a couple diamond pickaxes and a sword. I got Efficiency I on the first pick, Unbreaking I on the second, and Sharpness I on the sword. Pretty cool.

What levels are you spending? I spent 34 on a diamond pickaxe and got Unbreaking III and Efficiency III, but no Silk Touch or Fortune. I, much later, spent 35 on a diamond sword and got Sharpness III and Looting III, which was totally sweet and a trip to the Nether got me two stacks of gold nuggets, or about 14 gold.

So I beat the enderdragon on hardcore mode.
I'm not actually sure if this constitutes an achievement, seeing as I probably could have done it with nothing but a bow and a pick and a bunch of dirt and a piece of armor.
On the other hand, I cannot stop laughing at how self-serious the credits sequence is. Come on, it's MINECRAFT for the love of gog.

Anywhere between level 30 and 45. I've gotten some decent enchantments (Fortune III, Efficiency III, Unbreaking III on one for 34 levels) but they're mostly pretty useless(Efficiency III for 34-44 on four(4) picks). I'm gonna go for a 48+ level enchantment soon, and see what that does.

(also yes, I carry around my Golden Apples. I'm not even sure why.)

I've finished writing a specialized Minecraft tool, and now I'm testing it. It's a surprise I hope you'll all like, though it's not too complicated. I'll release it here and on the MCForums on Christmas.
Oh, and here's a hint: If you hate mining, this tool is for you.

So, this just happened:
That was 48 levels. I'm not really sure how much of a fluke it was that a level 48 enchantment gave just one, but meh. SIIIILLLKKKK TOOOUUUCCCHHH!!
Total Diamond Pickaxes enchanted: 11
SUCCESS.
