Tip: Avoid "item babysitting". Do not force the player to drag P-Switches or springboards all around the level. This is not fun, nor does it make for interesting "puzzles".

I'd actually suggest you install Not Enough Items on the server (and in your .jar file) anyways, since it has a lot more features in SMP. And they're still only usable by OPs. (text search for blocks/items, inventory save states, the ability to choose which blocks/items are in your search list, weather and time control, all the crafting, potion, and furnace recipies in the game, free understandable enchantments...)
The world is going to be less flat.

Really, I didn't mind the new generation, but improvement is always nice. And ironically, there will also be a "flat world" option.
I liked the old terrain generation (pre 1.8 or whatever it was) more anyway, I hope this update goes a bit more in that direction.

They are back.
I have gotten kind of bored of Minecraft, the new screenshots are nice, but all in all I have kind of an ill feeling about the whole game as of late.
That's what mods are for, Volke. Lemme link you to some good ones.

Modloader (necessary to use almost any mod, you have to open up your minecraft.jar and install the files in this .zip into your .jar, then delete the META-INF folder)
ModloaderMP alternate link (some mods require it, no harm in putting it in your .jar file)
Forge alternate link (another one that doesn't do anything noticable when playing regular minecraft, be sure to install all three in the order listed for the next mod to load properly)
Industrialcraft Wiki (when you run Minecraft with Modloader installed, it creates a mods folder in your appdata/roaming/.minecraft folder. You have to place the .jar file that comes from this link in that folder.)
Buildcraft Wiki Logistics pipes addon (great for automating things, all five in the first link are needed in the mods folder. I highly recommend the logistics pipes as well if you're getting buildcraft, they help even more with automation and routing =p)
Redpower (adds a lot of redstone functionality, along with an alternative to buildcraft's pipes and a sorting system)

You can find more mods in here. =p
Found a pretty interesting chart that shows what ingredient does what with potion making

Ah, thanks for linking that. I can never remember how to brew a potion.

EDIT: So I'm playing in my SP Creative world, building a multi-layer tower using SPC, and I had forgotten I had bound the "y" key to EXPLODE 100! You can probably guess what happened.

Why would you put that right next to the chat key?
I was playing cheating at an adventure map, and I wanted to do big explosions. It didn't occur to me why you should never choose Y.
I just switched my chat key to be the Return key. Removes conflicts with a lot of mod stuff since barely any use Return for anything.

I already have my fair share of mods, and honestly I prefer vanilla. (and I am not a fan of those mods you listed anyhow)

This mod > any other mod

Mine Story

This is a little project I've started to eventually replace every Minecraft texture with a Cave Story equivilent.

I'm currently working on build 1.0 which will change the title screen and most of the terrain. I hope to have it finished by February.

Later versions will change mobs, font, GUI, particles, and whatever else.
That title screen is kinda cool. Never thought such a thing was possible.

Though, I would suggest you use the Wii Version's title text instead of the computer version.

Another thing is that I would suggest that when you texture everything, dont make it extremely pixelized somehow. Long time ago I found a CS texture pack, yet I didn't like it because it was too pixelized.

And make logical retextures too.

I found a Spider Jockey.

And I died...

I suck at this game.

Anyway, I like the idea of a Cave Story texture pack. The End should be the sacred grounds.

I was actually planning to use those tiles for the nether but we shall see...

As for replacing the logo with th Wii one, it's a nice idea but I'd have to think about resolutions (it's a 16x16 pack)
