Got to try out the snapshots finally due to increased fps with the latest... I have to say, I'm very impressed with everything that's going on in Minecraft. I was skeptical about the "Jeb is god, Notch is fat" trend starting up around the Minecraft community (Come on, don't forget Nizotch, he made the game and all people seem to do now is bash him :<), but with how things are currently working out I'm leaning towards Jeb more and more.
Also, vanilla world height increase. :megusta:

I built a tower one and a half floors above the clouds, starting two or three above sea level. A wizard lives at the top, or so I designed it that way

The new stuff is neat, and I kind of like the zombie attacks, although all it does to the player is discourage use of doors... I really like that there's powerable light sources, however there's the issue that it doesn't really work as a street lamp. I'd prefer they be default on and be turned off by redstone.

Can zombies break gates? If not just put one of them around your homes door. 
Anyway I recently got minecraft working again. It's good to be back and with a good few updates since the last time I played it's quite refreshing.

Zombies only break down wooden doors on hard mode, no need to worry guys.

I love zombie sieges.
Originally, I lived in a village of about 10 houses, and about 16 villagers. Due to breeding and me adding a blacksmith's, that number rocketed to at least fifty. I decided that all the damn noise wasn't worth it, so I decided to kick it up to hard difficulty and let the zombies do their thing.
They- at least a dozen zombies- killed all but four villagers.
The villagers seem more apprehensive about breeding now. Population is at about ten after a week or so.
10/10 to Zombie pest control; would recommend.

Caves aren't generating, presumably due to the fact that the new level format completely skips over air blocks

It's just a bug with the latest snapshot, but oddly enough Jens put it on his "Not big enough to release a fix" list :V

Probably because it doesn't delete items/corrupt saves or anything horrible like that.

So, ideally, it should be fixed next snapshot if he can figure it out by then. As before, I assume it's a bug in the code that skips air blocks.

Protip: Put your door up two blocks from the ground and make retracting/extending piston stairs. Zombie apocolypse avoided.
