Figured I'd ask here as well. Doesn't hurt having more input from various people.
To get to the problem, I receive a BSoD when scanning my laptop with an anti-virus (Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Avira in my case).
To elaborate, it's whenever the folder C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests is being scanned. The first few thousand files scan fine, then I get the BSoD.
Why I'm certain it's that folder that's causing the bluescreen? I scanned the folder separately. Exactly what I explained above happened. So I put that folder into the Ignore list in MBAM and did another full scan. It worked flawlessly, not finding any malicious file.
Now, what could be the cause of this? Could it be a virus? Or a damaged file? How would I track the culprit down between all those 14.000+ files?
Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect that there's a bad dll file somewhere there. The winsxs folder is where Windows store all backup dlls (saved me a few times). And a Virus could easily just stomp in and do whatever if somehow it was allowed to.
But I'm not sure really. Could be the antivirus program doing something wrong because of some other setting on your computer.

Thanks to p4plus2's suggestion running a disk check, everything it properly working now!
I assume an important file got corrupted somehow but it's fixed now. This can be closed now.
