Yeah, I competely agree. This BG is just perfect. Luigi-San did a really great work with this BG. In level, it looks even better. I have another update today. I made half of my current level (Permafrost Waters), and I will show some screenshots from this level. 

Woah, that's a lakeside place. There's a lot of water here!

A message explaining the water is permafrost and you can't be too long in it.

Swimming through some flooded grassy corridors. Heh, there's not many snow here, but the temperature is definitely very low.

Ahhh, I'm outside again. That place is also very close to being flooded.

Woah! Here comes more and more water! But we need it here to jump onto that hill up there.

Hmmm... There are some bridge constructions under water. They look pretty nice!

Woah! That koopa kicked a shell. I must be careful to not jump into it.

And going to an underwater tunnel.

It's definitely cold here in that water tunnel so I'll take a blue mushroom to heat me a bit.

And we have the midway point here. Hmmm... there's some pipe later there. I think I'll have longer underwater distances to swim through. I will need a lot of blue mushrooms! 
I hope the level looks ok. I still can't believe I updated that thread 2 days ago, yesterday, and today, while it wasn't updated through almost 2 months. I gained more motivation and I hope I will update this thread as often as I update it now. For Permafrost Waters, I probably won't show anything more about it, but I have prepared a nice surprise for the next update. Practically...
only 1,5 exits left for the World 5 to be finished! So yeah, next update will be probably about the World 5 Castle and the end of the Ice World, and it won't come that fast, but I hope I can complete the Ice World as quickly as I can. The update about the end of the Ice World will actually be pretty important I guess, I'll say about some things I'm going to change in the hack.
(don't bite me, but I'm going to do some things like remaking the overworld from scratch, but I do it to make the overworld look a lot better! Now my skills are way better, so I'll slowly make it again. There are also some other important things I will have to do, like starting a new fresh hack thread after World 5 ends, but I'll say about those things in the next update)

Oh man; I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to comment. (currently on my only few hours of down time)
But yeah as the title stated before and along with everybody else, that background does look amazing. Luigi-San did a great job.
Now for the level. I must say that the level is looking amazing. Not only does it look well decorated, the design also looks pretty interesting as well as fun. Not to mention I like the cold water concept. (Kind of makes me cold just thinking about it.)
I mentioned that tide levels weren't my favorite but I'm certain that this level will overwrite my opinion on that.
But yeah great work; and glad to see your almost done with World 5.

Haha, a fun story.
I was making the layer 3 tides section a moment ago, and I made a next part with more tunnels and bridge constructions. Then I decided to test it. I switched on the emulator, and I chose MLT. I started playing the level, and I meet some strange things. When I go somewhere, Mario makes some strange moves like a crazy person. When I go into the air, he walks in it and moves like he would be dancing. Then he dies without reason. I play the level again, and it's acting strangely again. All the enemies are getting into walls and going out of the screen. This is just a pure example of a crashed ROM. I thought: "Oh no! I probably crashed the ROM with some bad ASM again!". Then I disabled layer 3 tides and played the level again. Everything was ok. I was surprised, and I was happy the ROM was ok and it was just a Layer 3 issue. Then I thought: "Why is Layer 3 causing all those things?" And then I saw I have some tiles on screen 11. But there's a warning saying you can use only 0F screens with Layer 3 tides! And I understood my error. I had things on screen 11, so it was too far, and Layer 3 Tides started to crash the game. Now I'll remember I shouldn't use screens more than 0F with Layer 3 tides, as they crash the game then.
Ufff... I was scared I crashed the ROM again. But everything is ok now. EvilGuy0613 is right, Layer 3 Tide levels aren't nice! 
There's a new underwater section of this level. I must say, they are pretty tough with the air-meter, you need to take a lot of blue mushrooms to not die. So I put a bonus for guys that are very fast and if someone is fast enough and has a lot of air in the air-meter, he can take a challenge and swim through a tunnel for a 1-UP.

Yeah, it has to be pretty difficult to swim through the section fast enough to have enough air in the air-meter for the tunnel. I tried, and I did collect it once, but I was really quick and it was pretty hard. To make this section more interesting, I added some ON/OFF Blocks here, so you need to hit an ON/OFF block sometimes to pass through some corridors.

I hope the level is good.

Looks pretty nice for me. I also don't like messing with Layer 3 tides but sometimes they give nice effects.

If I say that this looks Epic would be an understatement. I like the level, the BG, and I hope the On/Off puzzles aren't too hard.
Out of the main subject: I'm wondering how would that BG look if it were ex-animated .

@K.K.Koopa: Thank you for your comment. Nice you liked this hack too. There aren't many ON/OFF puzzles there, I would advice thinking on having enough heat to go out of the tunnel alive. Hmmm... *imagining the BG exanimated* ... Woah, that was one of the best pictures in my life! 
Heh, there are currently 14 screens of this level, and I'm going to add one underwater section more, I try to make my levels have decent length. I'm almost done with my level, and it will be my next level that took 3 days! But I feel really overworked... I was working several hours on this and I'll make a small brake of SMW hacking before making the ice castle. It's still a nice feeling to know you made a level in 3 days while the previous level took 1,5 month. Don't worry, the brake won't be too long; 1, 2 days max, I think. But I feel really tired because of that level, so... Anyway, Merry Xmas the 100th time!

-Plan of Action for Next Months-
Hi Everyone Again! =D I'm having some little progress with the World 5 Castle. I'm not trying to make it fastly. I'm going to start the official revamp of this hack in the next weekend, so I have a week to complete this castle calmly and smoothly. =)
Yeah, did I say something about a revamp? I mentioned several times I'll revamp all completed 5 worlds of this hack. The first thing I will do is Porting to a Clean Rom, and I'm going to start doing it on the Monday after the next week. Then I'll make an exact list of things I'm going to do.
I'll firstly fix all the main errors of this hack. Then I'll start revamping all the levels slowly one by one. It may take some time. This means I'll change a lot of graphics choices for better ones, as well as music, and mainly the level design. I'll try to tone the difficulty down a bit, as pretty many people said it's pretty hard and some of them couldn't even beat it. My 3 betatesters of my 3-world betatest version had also their opinions. Two of them said this hack is really difficult and I should make it easier, and the third one couldn't even beat it. =P
For the levels I'll make a list of things that have to be in a level. It will be something like this:
- All 5 Dragon Coins
- Enough Decorations
- Takes at Least 200-250 Game Seconds
Oh well, for the current while, I forgot about all those things, but I have time for making it.
After revamping the levels, I'm going to finally make this a story hack. It won't be like now, that I just know the story from the Intro Screen and I have to beat the game. I'll have more events happening in the game, and cutscenes with dialogs informing you about current situation.
Meanwhile, a new overworld will be also created. I have now much better skills in making OW that a year ago, so I'm going to make it way better. After all that mess, I'll be able to open the signups for beta-testing. When everything is fixed, I hope it will look like a whole new hack, but it will definitely take long time.

As for the World 5 Castle, I can say I made 1/4 of this. I inserted all needed stuff (Falling Leaves, Sprites Stuff) except the boss. I competely forgot I had to finally make a layer 2 portion for the castle and I started making a normal room, heh.
Some of you may remember, I was always putting an unique gimmick in the second part of every castle, I guess I have it in the first post of this thread. I also prepared something for this castle, but I'll guess I'll hide it. Meh, it's just a sprite downloaded from here, but it's a pretty cool generator which I'm going to use as well as I'm able.
I have some screens from the castle. I decided to start it with an outside section, I think there's a better athmosphere then.

Woah, I guess it's all slippery. Let's climb up now!

Heh, there are no castles without enemies. Slipping on the ground with them must be tricky! =D

Ah Revamping I hear? That's gotta be fun; really it is. You'll always get that accomplished feel when you're able to improve a level more then before. Anyways I wish you good luck with the Revamping.
As for the castle, it looks simply amazing; I'm especially loving the out side graphic choices to them. The inside looks great too and looks somewhat challenging with the slipperiness.
Anyways keep up the Great work and looking forward to seeing World 6; when the time comes of course.

Thanks, I'm glad it looks ok. You say revamping is going to be fun? Meh, I have a lot of things to do, and the first of them will be porting to a new ROM... If I won't do it, there's a possibility I won't be able to insert sprites anymore and I'll run out of space after making the next levels.
After all this, I'm fixing levels. Meh, I'm worried it will be hard to replace some FGs. Sometimes I will have to redo a level with a new FG. And one of the worst things... ...secondary entrances. After seeing the list of secondary entrances, a lot of them are messed up and lead to level 25 instead of the level they should lead to. Everything would be ok if I would know where are those secondary entrances placed and where should they lead... But everything will slip smoothly after I'll revamp the levels.
(well, if I play every level exactly, I'll be able to see where are the secondary entrances messed up, I hope.)
Meh, and I was noobish enough to not make a list of hex-edits I made to the ROM... But I have a way to remind about them. I'll just scroll through the entire ROM map and I'll see if I can recognize the hex edits I made. I guess it'll take time.
Generally just a lot of hard and partially annoying things to do...

Sheesh, have i been gone from SMWCentral THAT long??? There is tons more awesome stuff here! 2 new pages of comments... what!? I guess I need to keep a better eye on the calendar xD
This is some pretty amazing stuff going on here, Teo. This hack as a whole was already really cool and the hard work put into it was inspiring on its own, but... now your going through it again! That's what I call strong dedication, and I'm happy that I've been around to see this develop so much. Hard to believe your already done with 5 worlds! I think that this will become one of the greatest hacks out there for SMW when it is finished, and I can't wait to check it out fully when it is released. No matter what anyone else says, this hack will always be rated #1 in my book.
Keep up the amazing work! We are here for you, so if you need any help with all of that revamping your doing, don't hesitate to ask!

Yeah, the castle is done and I'm going to port the hack to a new ROM through this week. Finishing the castle took a week longer because I felt I need to rest through this week. And soon, I'll have to start revamping the entire hack. It really doesn't sound fun, and I'm not having motivation to start it, but it's not bad, porting to a new ROM is something different than making levels, so I hope I can find some fun in it. (Hahahah! )
Since I'm starting revamping, I should prepare for it. When I'll be revamping the hack, I'll write a list of things which I will have do through revamping. (extension of the story by means of cutscenes; new overworld; better difficulty curve [...]) Meanwhile I'm also preparing a pretty important list of the things that should be in a level before I can "accept" it. =)
Yeah, I'll make some sort of "inspection" for every level, and if a level doesn't pass, I'm remaking it until it fulfills the requirements. I will have a list of things which have to be in every level, and I'll remake the levels to fulfill the requirements. It's a pretty difficult list to make, so I already started making it. It has to be correct and exact, so I can properly revamp all the levels. Those are the current requirements that I have on the list:

The switch palaces are pretty important for me, and they play a bigger role in the hack, so I must be sure I'm actually using them.
Yeah, you don't like when you take a midway point, die, enter the level, and get stuck somehow because of a wrong placed midway point, do you? Because of that, I want to be sure all the midway points in this hack are working.
Heh, but even if the level has some interesting land forms or nice puzzles, how can it be interesting without enemies? I'll try to have enough sprites in the levels.
If one level is too similar to other levels, the hack gets repetive, so I'm going to put something different in every level.

Yes, awesome like always, Teo! I love that gimmick, too! "Bowser has some financial problems, so he takes one coin per jump"... I lol'd at that one!
