Well that answers it. Okay then!

EDIT:

I am nitpicking D=

Anywho, how does this look? Its indirect teaching, and it doesn't include that ugly Diagonal arrow that looks like an "R" which makes you think of reset.

Plus it saves space...a little.

Anyway...

Fringe Forest

Tropical Turnout

Plateau Pumps
I don't think that floating platform on the lava is necessary, BTW.

Coral Corridor

Togepuku Tussle

Crocodilian Crossing
That palette is ass, but a general concept at something.

Stormy Stronghold
My my! All of those look fabulous!

Optimized:

002: Girder Grasslands
227(?) to 213(?)

Pretty small. Also, I replaced those coin arrows with the one I posted in my older post.

003: Plateau Pumps

540 to 470

Teyla(?) fully used MAP 16 to create this level, I take.

Also, I replaced all coins in both levels with ones from MAP 16, which means they can't be retaken after going through a pipe like how they should be.

I said I was going to do this before, so I finally decided to actually do it.

Changed and re-paletted the BG for 004 and 191, re-paletted the FG and BG slightly in 190 and moved a fish, and also the goal roulette. .MWLs in here.

Just in case, are the base ROMs using 1.90 or 1.91? The base ROM thread just says "LM 1.9" so I wasn't sure, but I used 1.91 to make my changes anyway. Does this even matter?

Also you probably already know about these things, but eh.
Is the non-dynamic Chomp Rock used in this game?

It shouldn't, but we're actually using 1.91 anyway so it's no big deal.

Yes, it's used in Jimmy's level (Frostflow Freezer). I can't remember the exact sprite number though, so check the sprite list.

Oh no I know its in the game; I forgot to add "even" before the word "used".

I was just checking, since if it wasn't used it can be taken out.
Tropical Turnout looks awesome, cheers Mr.Deepay! Defiantly seems more "tropical" than what it used to be :D
Oh man, with all these similar backgrounds out I can't help but feel like I have to whip up a couple palettes for them... but then again I have a couple palettes I need to do for some other levels already and it's about time they get finished too, I guess.

Better start working before it's too late.

Also, the backgrounds look great.

May I ask where these backgrounds came from? I've been snooping around (not terribly thoroughly, though) and have yet to find any discussion on backgrounds other than what we talked about a couple months ago.

EDIT: Now that I stare at them, some of them look like they may have been pieced together from already-contributed backgrounds. Would that be accurate?

The cave ones come from Jimmy's level, but the islands/clouds are unique. Also, we established that the stormy one is from a commercial game, so that's pretty much a no-go unless we can't find anything else to replace it (hint hint background designers).

Fringe Forest & Crocodilian Crossing - Same BG from Frostflow Freezer
Tropical Turnout & Coral Corridor - Magiluigi's islands BG that has yet to be inserted, but was made for this collab to begin with.
Plateau Pumps - Above, but uses the sky portion of it.
Togepuku Tussle - Same BG as Shénmì Frica-Sea
Stormy Stronghold - This will need to be replaced (boo) since it came from a Super NES shmup named Axelay.

As for contacting people adept with backgrounds, you could try to go with Ludus, Mineyl (???), Magiluigi, WYE, or Nep-Enut (though he tends to be in and out as far as site activity goes)
All right. Thanks, guys, for clearing that up. Too bad about the Axelay background, though. Perhaps one could be designed in a similar vein, but that sort of "chaos" isn't something that I myself am good at, so it probably won't be me. :(

Mineyl (???)

He claims to have been involved in some crazy nonsense that doesn't bear repeating, but he's still on board for the backgrounds.

Also, I'd like a second round of opinions on this. I made it months ago and now that I look at it, I think I can do it even better, but any outside suggestions would be more than welcome!
I forgot about that one, and I still think it's perfect for the first level.

Are you able to fit a few more industrial-related details into the very back portion of it? Maybe a little factory, or smokestack, or something?
I can do that, no problem. This background might end up taking a whole ExGraphics file (I actually haven't counted out the unique tiles yet, but I drew it with those limits in mind), but I imagine it'll be useful for at least two of world 1's levels.
One full file is fine. Not only will it be perfect in at least two of the level (first and Switch Scamper I imagine), it'll also work for RN's level in world 9, which is a "shell" of the first level. If we're ambitious enough, it may even work in a world 4 level with a more orange-ish palette.

Fire it my way when you have it done then and I'll see to it that it gets in. Thanks again.
Speaking of graphics...

I already mentioned this in the Bugs thread, but GFX15 and ExGFX 81 are greatly similar, with the latter being better than the former.

I say replace 15 with 81; it saves a little space.
15 and 81 have completely different textures.

But with similarities enough to be confused as one, though.

I don't really see the point having to grassland replacements; one seems to be enough, and the grass tuff replacement in 15 seems to be barely edited anyways.

Maybe to a person with bad eyesight.

Then why not get rid of all of the forest, desert, watery, carnival, sky, rocky/lava, ice, factory and other multiple tilesets we have? Hell, let's just push this even further and degrade the tilesets we have down to the number SMW had? Or even better, the original SMB?
