Yeah, I was worried about that. The levels which use Slash's song seem really downbeat and more "ruined", almost (or at least, abandoned). I guess we're going to need something more along those lines.

I suppose I should point out at this point that I also use this song in the Temple section of Shénmì Frica-Sea, a place where I thought it worked, well, sort of brilliantly, and can't really think of another track that would have quite the same effect, both fast-tempoed yet subdued and sad, and with a certain echoing sound and sense of mystery. Did folks really not like the track? I always rather liked it myself for the above reason, I think it'd be most unfortunate if we had to lose it entirely...
There was some talk on IRC about it being "weaker" than the other factory tracks. I've actually never been a huge fan of it myself either, to be honest.

..but hey, if you think it works in your level, and other people do as well, then I won't touch it. No sense in ruining the mood, right?
I think it works just fine. It gives that feel of an old abandoned or haunted factory. The second factory theme, Electrospire feels more like a song from the Abstract world to me.
So on that note, I went ahead and attempted something that could work for either the grass castle or a factory level. I was actually leaning more towards the grass castle with this one in that it's lively + upbeat (almost akin to Jimmy's theme for the swamp castle), but I don't really want to step on Camerin's toes if he has something on the go.

Either way, here's a WIP of what I've done so far. Turns out the enveloping samples will come out to a total of about 300 bytes combined, so getting them into the hack will be both easy and very conservative.

Comments/suggestions/tomatoes are welcome.
I like it, but I don't think it fits Reclaimed.

A factory level, yes, but maybe not Perilous. It sounds like it would kinda work in Myrkka Mainline. (Maybe because I am reminded of something boiling?) Or maybe even the incinerator part of Incineration Station.

Also, for some very odd reason, I got reminded of Crazy Frog O.i
Personally, I can definitely see that track working in Reclaimed Refinery. Above all, it's a good deal more active and upbeat, which seems to suit the stage rather better than the (slower, more mournful) current track. Of course, it's always a bit hard to say without witnessing the track in-game, but I can certainly imagine it being a suitable accompaniment.
I have a unfinished desert theme lurking down somewhere in my files..

*Searching*

Ah, found it!
I also found another unfinished desert-like theme..

EDIT: Wait wait wait those are mus files wait need to convert them. Eh.. That's gonna take a while while sitting on the wrong computer.

So, while my Grass Castle composition is underway (school and an unrelenting heatwave are making writing music very difficult right now), I wanted to showcase something else.

I wrote this a few months ago and have not shown it to anyone but S.N.N.--and he's likely forgotten about it. I wrote it but never released it because, at the time, the soundtrack was assumed to be 99% done. Now that certain songs are being re-examined, if you will, I've decided to release this one for public opinion.

Desert Castle/Desert Oasis Theme.

Is this worth porting?
So I finished that track. As I mentioned earlier, if Camerin manages to produce something for it, we can shift mine and his around a bit so that one is in the factory world and one is in the world 1 castle .. or whatever.

Comments are welcome.

@Camerin: That sounds very fitting for a desert, although I don't know which levels could benefit from it other than 103 and 104. Still though, if you're up for porting it, I'm sure they'd be up for using it.
Amazing, S.N.N. Your compositions never fails to amaze me.

Now that I have heard it fully, it fits Reclaimed Refinery so much now! I really like this thumbs up 10/10 would listen to it a billion times again

@Camerin: I don't think it'll fit an oasis level; 103 is gonna be a bit "happy" in a sense. (Seriously, we need happier music for 4A and 4B)

I'll still wait for a port to show up before I make a firm judgment on the song.
i personal love the old theme for reclaimed factory i feel that would fit the boss of the first castle, the old track was one of my favorete songs of the hack its a shame to see it removed !
Wait unless I missed something, I thought 103 got dropped from the hack?
It was at first, but then there was a little riot about it and a group of people (like 5 or 6) now own the level.
5 or 6 very skilled people, might I add.
That's cool. Anyway, on topic, I'm thinking I'd really like to make something for this again but I'm wondering if it'll be worth dealing with that bug again.

Just to clarify, which tracks are left? (including misc tracks)
Desert Level (found this one in my file bin from several months earlier)
Desert Level 2 (This one is piano-only.)
Desert Ruins

The last two songs are unfinished. I have nothing to do with them.

The way the flute jumps on the ruins song is a little weird. I definitely recommend changing it if you ever plan on continuing the song.

However, I really, really like the other two pieces. I hope you continue the second one, as it's going somewhere. I'd recommend adding some percussion in, though. And the first one is perfect. It sounds just like a desert level theme without the use of that Egyptian feel. The only concern is it just seems mildly repetitive, which could get boring relatively quickly.

Nice job on these!
So I was lurking in FL Studio and I think I just composed a pretty good Final Boss Theme...
Here. WIP

Please comment and suggestions are appreciated.
I know it's only 0:22 secs but I want to compose 1 piece for this project.
If you guys are curious how it will sorta turn out here
, here and here are some other pieces I made, not for this hack. (Note that not all of these songs are done yet.)
So, should I continue on this piece?
Please, please finish that boss theme.

Please!
