Seems more fitting for the World 9 boss, really.

School happened, and, as such, I don't know if I can complete my musical endeavours. I'm really going to try, but...I just don't know.
Sorry, guys.

Meh, I don't think I'm going to continue that one. It's pretty old right now.
Originally posted by Red ChameleonHowever, I really, really like the other two pieces. I hope you continue the second one, as it's going somewhere. I'd recommend adding some percussion in, though.
That one was just a piano arrangement. If I going to make something of it, I have to re-arrange it in a new midi. I don't know if I'm going to do that sometime..
Originally posted by Red ChameleonAnd the first one is perfect. It sounds just like a desert level theme without the use of that Egyptian feel. The only concern is it just seems mildly repetitive, which could get boring relatively quickly.
I get the repetitive part. I opened the midi again and changed the violin and the melody when it jumps in the second time. I also added a short different part.
Here's the new version.

YES! This is so much better! Not only did you kill the repetition, but the new melody in the second half is really neat and definitely does the song well.
It's certainly a track I'd like to hear in this hack. Awesome job!
And unrelated to that piece, if I stop being lazy I'll possibly compose a track to replace one of the old, "outdated" tracks.

I don't know if anyone would agree, but my level (Scorching Sepulcher) is using the default ruins music, however, I think Bloop's would work much better for this "haunted pyramid" type of level. Mind if you donate? If I'm completely wrong, move on with what you were doing. =P

I'm fine with it.
Tried porting the song.
Things to finish in the port:
-Get someone to replace all maraca's with sample crash cymbals (because I'm bad with samples. Bad.);
-Try to make a good sitar sounding instrument for the melody (which I haven't made yet);
-If the thing above doesn't work, get someone to put in a sitar sample;
-If the port totally sucks for others, let someone actually port the song.
Oh mah gawd oh ma gawd oh ma gawd I'm going to finish my first thing!!! click

You know, @14 is a pretty good substitute for a sitar. I'd recommend using that and letting other people think about it.
Also, I'd probably be happy to convert it to AMM for you, as I just made a song with it a while ago, and I think I know what I'm doing.

Assuming I'm now composing for the world 9 boss, I thought I'd show the progress of my song:
Click
I know the progress of the song isn't ultra-fast, but composing takes time, especially if you have school next to it. :/
Again, suggestions are appreciated.

I'd say you're on the right track. Keep going with this!

@Bloop
Mmh, yeah @4 could work too as a sitar replacement... *looks through Snes9x folder*...
... found it (don't mind the compositon)
The ADSR I used there is $ED $0F $91 (could also benefit from some vibrato, I guess)
Also, that's turning out really cool, Torchkas!

I actually think that the start music should at least sound like the star music that has been a staple in all Mario games.
With how this hack is turning out, it could actually be passed of as an official Mario game!

Desert blahblah
So I'll send this to Moose so he can convert it to AMM if everyone is OK with this?

I like it, though I think @14 could benefit from some ADSR that fades faster, but that's just me.
But you know what? I could always do it myself and post it here for feedback.

I might have something.
Possible second bonus theme? The song is intentionally written in a slightly sharper key than normal. This can be disabled pretty easily if people think it would sound better in a normal harmony.

Other than the beginning, that strikes me more as a credits theme, if anything.

Tend to agree with the above. Also, it strikes me that the beginning sounds almost exactly like Aquarela do Brasil...

I believe his water track is now being used in Hydrostatic Halt
As for the title screen, I've heard no plans on changing it.

I'd love to hear his water track used in a couple of other levels as well due to its overall high quality, but I can't even think of any others it would fit in at this point.
Too bad, really.
e: come to think of it, it could be used in the underwater portion of Togepuku Tussle.

Still waiting for this one, Bloop. When are you going to send it?
