| Tip: The music in SMW's default castle/ghost house intros and boss battles can be changed by hex-editing. See 286DB-286E2 in the ROM map. |

Just because I'm now the moderator here doesn't mean other people can't contribute ideas, of course-- and I'll need the input, especially with no other staff members currently involved in YI hacking.
Anyway, if you have any suggestions on what might help make this forum easier for you/others to navigate (or simply something you believe needs improvement currently), feel free to post and discuss it here. I'd prefer it if you've been around this forum for a while, but even newcomers can give suggestions if they feel like it.
Please keep this to discussion regarding this actual YI hacking forum, though. Suggestions to improve Golden Egg should go in that thread instead. And if your question involves the entire SMWCentral site, you may want to post in the Site Questions and Bugs forum.
Edit note: Apparently this thread isn't actually getting any use (any suggestions that exist are just posted wherever, which might be easier anyway), so I've decided to desticky it.
---
Anyway...
First of all, any ideas on what to do about the SMW2 offsets and helpful info thread?
Also, what do you think of this proposal:
- Hack threads, and only hack threads, would be allowed to start with the "*" or "!" character (which one depends on what people prefer, I'd make it both at first).
I think this would help people distinguish hack threads at a glance from everything else scattered around the forum.

@Zeldara:
What does "what to do about the SMW2 offsets and helpful info thread?" mean? I would say it should just stay like it is. It is a kind of active thread, still, compared to other threads around this compared to other forums inactive forum. I also think it is unnecessary to bring the info provided there into any special order, since I actually find it kind of fun to dig up "lost" info from there. It is actually forlorn hope to bring all that information into one post, it would be hardly more informative than the whole thread. People can simply increase the posts per page in their profile and then start a Ctrl+F search if they want to find something. (I, for example see 100 posts per page)
And about the mark of a hack-thread: Good idea to do this, it will make it easier for people to actually find demos or full hacks using this method.
For the "*" and "!", how about making a "*" once there are screenshots, a "!" once there is a demo and a "*!*" once there is a complete hack? Otherwise, hacks and stuff can also be found here.

I think people like us can search it because we've read the entire thread already (meaning we have an idea of what to type when searching). It might be pretty difficult for someone new to the forum...
Anyway, I doubt the format will change anytime soon, but a more organized database of YI-hacking information is something we can try to plan ahead for.
Good idea regarding the "*" and "!". I might wait a few days to implement it, though, in case there are any other suggestions I like, but go ahead and edit your own threads if you wish. (I plan on updating the hack thread titles in at least the first 2 or 3 pages of this forum.)

A good way to get the somewhat small YI hacking community active is to create a collaborative Yoshi's island hack similar to a SMW production. this obviously would involve user's creating levels and if their good submitting them to a dedicated thread I guess.

I don't consider this good idea. Unlike Lunar Magic, there is no format to save levels, so levels could be only shared by... hex data... I suppose. Also, I doubt there would be big interest.
In my opinion, YI hacking forum is fine as it's. There is FAQ, it's pretty beginner friendly. Of course Golden Egg is not as friendly as LM, but then, you don't make it.

I agree with Glitch.Mr, it'd be much harder to make a collaborative Yoshi's Island hack because the version of the ROM each user had would be different and it'd be very hard to get it all up to date.

If Golden Egg ever implements a file format equivalent to the .mwl files, I plan on starting a YI equivalent to SMWCP.
Not yet though. (And if Golden Egg does add that feature, I still may wait a while.)

Wow, I forgot how much more active this forum was 1 1/2 years ago. I wonder what happened?
Anyway, the rule about hack threads starting with "*" and "!" is now in effect-- read the forum rules for details. (I've added "*"s to all existing hack threads I could find. Feel free to point out any I may have missed.)
I've also opened any hack threads that were closed due to bumping. It's now fine to bump a thread, as long as your post is relevant of course... though I don't personally see any reason to bump an inactive hack thread unless a playable demo/release exists. (Also, if you find a non-working patch download link or something like that, please PM me so I can mark it that way. Don't bump the thread.)
(Note: If there's an old thread of yours that you'd prefer be closed, please tell me.)

This forum needs a YI level design contest, just about a few weeks after the vanilla contest
I'd give great motivation to beat Aqualakitu in our bet

That's an... interesting idea, actually. It might help attract potential new YI hackers.
I'll keep it in mind (since yes, it probably shouldn't be at the same time as another level design contest).
(By the way, how is Aqualakitu relevant to this?)
