Party games are fun. and whatever game genre Guitar hero is in thats fun as well.

By genre, I like RPGs, Platfromers, and action-adventures.
Qualities in games which I look for are challenging puzzles, decent control, and poor graphics and sound.(with bad graphics and sound, it feels more like a game. Besides, then they focus harder on control)

I like 2-D platformers, racing, and puzzle games.
I dislike most sports games

Guess we're gonna ignore the fact it's a 4.5 year bump. >_>
My favorite games tend to be the 90s arcade style games: 2D platformers, shoot-em-ups, beat-em-ups, Action Puzzle games (bubble bobble, tetris, etc.) and 2D fighters. RPGs and FPS's like Team Fortress 2 are also games I like.
As for dislikes, mainly Sports games and Casual games (Party, Dance, etc.).

And how would bumping a thread for the first time earn you a ban, anyway? Same for the ones who replied "on topic".

Adding some more depth to my last post, probably my favorite type of game overall is the shoot-em-up. Some of my favorite games are Galaga, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Gradius III, Contra, etc. Just the sort of mindless fun that I tend to enjoy a lot.

This. I don't like sports games. If you want to play the sport go outside with a few friends (assuming you have some) and play it.
Anyway I really like almost all types games. Aside from Sports games and Puzzle games. I really don't like having to think my way around a lot. I don't mind an occasional puzzle in a game but if the game is all about that concept of figuring stuff out I just get impatient.
I really like RPGs, Platformers and such. Those are my favorite genres.

I'm not going to state a specific genre, but...
Mario Kart 7.
This game was a good game... Until you start to unlock the characters. They replaced Dry bones AND Waluigi with a bee. I don't know what Nintendo was on when they came up with this idea, but personally I think they were high. It tries WAY too much to get by on nintendo charm, taking courses from completely unrelated games(ex. Wii sports Resort) and is the only title in the series to not include a versus mode(in regular gameplay). Other than that, it's pretty good, other than the mii voice. It sounds like a bunny crying, dying, and throwing up at the same time.
Just my personal opininon.

Anyway, generally I like FPSes, Top down shooters, platformers and sandbox games.

That is true. I'd probably own one sports game and then stop at that, cuz releasing later sports games just means you're rehashing it and giving it a new look with new players who joined the sports league. When I begin my career as a game designer, that just means I get to be one of those rehashers to start my career off! YAY!
In case you haven't noticed, I REEEEAAAALLLLYYY hate Sports games...with the exception of SOME baseball games.
Make that cookie-cutter FPS's as well. Wow...deja vu O.o
