Because if it feels nightmarish, then Moose and Ludus will have to do something about that...
@FirePhoenix: As amusing as that idea is, the Phase is supposed to be sad/depressed, and having a shiny blue berry wouldn't incorporate that and would really ruin the mood.
If you want a phase that could use that, it's RN/2dare's Phase 1, Happiness.
(I still think that Reggiebill should make at least one appearance in the game)

It's not that it feels nightmarish rather than depressing, it's simply that when the player is playing through all these Crazee Phazees and comes upon an altered version of an introductory level which originally had a cheerful grassland theme but is now rendered in dull colors with no music and no enemies, they're still going to think, "Hmm, this feels a lot like the altered version of an introductory level which originally had a cheerful grassland theme but is now rendered in dull colors with no music and (at least initially) no enemies I just played through a short while ago," even if the layout/mood/graphics are not identical. It's not that there's anything wrong with the idea of depicting depression by transforming what ought to be a lively landscape with all of its vitality apparently drained from it, it it's just that it needs to be approached (especially in a stage that's supposed to seem decidedly different from all others in the hack) in such a way that it doesn't seem too conceptually similar to a stage that the player would have just recently gone through, for instance by tying said landscape not to any particular introductory stage (which was already quite explicitly, but, for example, to Mario himself, which is taking things in a new direction. It can, after all, only help the phase (and in turn the final level as a whole) if it appears to have its own unique personality, noticeable distinct from its other brothers and sisters in World 9.
And far as a certain injokes go, fear not: I suspect another level may have covered that ground as well.

Another update of something.
To SNN, actually: sorry if i didn't even considered the Title Screen graphics in those latest weeks: i had some personal frustrations and buisness of mine i had to do. Even if i had time to spend in the Internet, i couldn't find a good moment to spend with the Title Screen.
So i started working a litte more, for now. But i also hope we have time for the title:

Edit: GASP BMP fail!
Edit2: BTW i used Photoshop because YY-CHR would be surprisingly difficult, then i think i'll use Edit1754's BG ripper to port them in Lunar Magic... if there is space.

So do you plan to use Norveg, Blimp Duck, Madam Mau and Doc Croc in the title screen?
By the way, I like your image. Looking forward to a final version.

I actually agree with you now. Hmm...how could this be pulled off then?
The only things I can think of are the backgrounds of both "Apocalyptic Girder Grasslands" and "Depressive And So It Began..."

@ShadowAlexandre: Judging from the outline, most likely. I'm guessing the one on the right is Doc Croc with the glasses and the frizzy hair... Tag (div) was not closed. Tag (div) was not closed.

The only I have to say is that Madame Mau's silhouette looks a bit weird there
Other than that, I can't think of another word to describe your talent.

Woah, this gives me totally a SuperStar Saga feeling, I've no idea why.
I agree, the only thing is Madame Mau's silhouette looks strange, but I really like the position is has now. I'm not sure, but if you change the eyes/faces a bit and if you make the outline less scrawly it would looks better
(My favorite is the duck btw, really awesome!)

That is absolutely fantastic. Suggestion though: If we use the logo we've decided on, you'll have to move everyone down or it will cover up Madame Mau's silhouette.
Maybe you should try to incorporate the logo into the image so we can get an idea of how it looks?

That is outstanding, and at this point, I'm almost going to suggest that we don't use the logo that was drawn earlier. It might be wise to just draw SMWCP2 along the top of that title screen in your own unique font.
I love how it feels like some kind of nuclear Holocaust (the palette, at least). Can't wait to see the final version.

I agree, that is looking amazing. I'm wondering if we can use some sort of exanimation of the the smwcp2 logo fade into the screen itself for effect.

Perhaps you're right about the logo. I'd like to see what it looks like with it but, Dinomar, if you can make an SMWCP2 (SMWCP II) logo that fits the industrial theme, go for it. I'm sure you can come up with something amazing.

I also thought that logo, while it would have been Ok for a full view, i think we should write SMWC Production isntead of SMWCP.
Oh yeah i think the green-yellow colors give the feeling of pollution.
Also, II looks better than 2, i guess

Yep, that's looking absolutely stunning.
I checked how Teyla's logo would look on that, by the way, and it didn't seem to fit anywhere on the screen without covering anything (not even if you shift the whole image down as far as you can). If we want to keep the background (which I doubt anyone will have anything against), our best bet would be an entirely different logo. (in a nutshell, just repeating the last few posts >_>)

Teyla's logo could always be used on the final screen of the hack (assuming we have a "Thank you for playing!" type thing). If we use it in unison with an image of some sort, it would probably work nicely.
I just hate to see resources go to waste is all.

Wait - it was discussed and suggested for the logo to show Teyla's logo in a black screen, then have it slowly fade away showing Dinomar's picture.
(Or was it that the silhouettes were sprites, and they fade in?)
I do not want to see Teyla's logo unused after all that thorough discussions about it.
~
EDIT:
A suggestion:
With the blimp in the sky, why not have a ferris wheel in the background along with the girders? If, that is, were going with the mode 7 ferris wheel boss in W5.
And maybe a volcano, (oriental) temple, and a tree in the background?
I just feel like at least there should be innuendos to the other bosses.

Does anyone else think that maybe the end result could do with a bit more colour? Having something completely yellow and tan-looking on the title screen doesn't really fit with the more vibrant palettes used in the levels, in my opinion at least. The title screen looks freaking amazing, yes, but I'm just wondering if it actually goes together well with what we already have. Or is a stark contrast supposed to give the impression of some kind of "this is what would happen, and you're trying to stop it" feel?
The change in tone just throws me off a bit.

Nope, the title screen itself is a wonderful contrast to the beginning of the game, really, we shouldn't change stuff that's amazing already itself (and I can't think in anyway that it would look better or even as mysterious as now if they are colored) Oh wait, basicly what you already said(bold).
I also have to say the SMWCP Logo, couldn't it replace the "Nintendo presents"?
