Tip: Layer 3 backgrounds and tides disappear when you hit a message box, so plan your level around that. For example, you can add a sublevel without layer 3 at the start/midpoint, and include your message there.

Can some explain me how do I work with the SMILE editor? I know how to change Samus' colors and modify the text.

Maybe you can try it with this tool.
Description: SABS (Samus Aran's Beauty Salon) is a Super Metroid Editor. Currently it edits the HP of most enemies, and has buggy, yet present, text editting, and more. Try it out.

SMILE can also edit HP of most enemies, has text editing, modifies the enemies' palettes, etc.

SABS is totally outdated by now because Jathys incorporated it into the latest version of SMILE.

You know, being the board's resident Super Metroid hacker, should I make a SMILE Help thread? We could just put all our posts in there. Or do we not have enough SM hackers for that?

No I mean I'll make one that I run and doesn't have this back and forth conversation in it. It'll keep it neat and organized instead of having our talking, then actual help later on. Plus, I have the SMILE FAQ that I'm working on to reference if need be.
