Self-explanitory. I wanted to hear what everyones Top 5 favorite SMW hacks are. Here's mine to start of:

5) Back to the Classics

WHAT?! Someone like me who absolutly despises Vanilla Hacks has one in his TOP 5 FAVORITES?! Well, yeah, it's one of the few vanilla hacks (read "very Very VERY few vanilla hacks") that i've played that has a different feel than the original Super Mario World. If I want to play something like SMW, then I will play SMW itself. (plus, BTTC comes with a custom music version, thats the one I play...)

Tied for 1st) ASMWCP,SMW: The Cookie Crisis, ASMT, SMW: Legend of the Seven Golden Statues

Ahhh, the sweet taste of chocolate hacks! If you want something thats new, exciting, almost to the point its a brand new game (they feel so new, that they create the illusion of a brand new OFFICIAL NINTENDO game! Well, with the obvious exceptions of ASMT (various instances of crude humor), and ASMWCP (because it says all over the place it's a hack), but thats another story...) ASMWCP is definatly one of the most hyped hacks on the site. If you haven't played it yet, PLAY IT! In fact, you should probally play all of these, because they are all good examples that just because a hack is chocolate, DOES NOT mean that the hacker will cover up bad level design with cool ASM gimmicks. All five of the hacks I mentioned have some of the best level design I have seen, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for something that feels like a whole new game (even BTTC feels like a whole new game AND IT'S VANILLA!)

So please, leave your opinion on the best 5 hacks YOU'VE ever played. I'd like to know what others think.
5. Luigi and the Island of Mystery

Pretty sweet hack, great graphics and pretty nice design. Really loved the variation in custom graphics and sprites too.

4. Mario's Keyastrophe

I still love this hack, simply because it is one of the most unique hacks on the whole site. The level design, songs, overworld and graphics were different in an awesome way. The keyhole gimmick in each level just made this hack complete.

3. Rise to the Challenge

I think it's a surprise for everyone that I picked this. A simple vanilla hack can still be amazing. The great palettes, amazing level design and hard difficulty was super. My friend and I used to play this hack online back then... It was amazing... Just amazing.

2. ASMWCP

Yeah, I'm not going to whine about the difficulty. It's a colab hack guys, ofcourse the difficulty is wacky; how do you want to make it perfect if everyone has his own style of designing? That's insane. The hack was just that amazing; graphical combinations that fit together very well in great designed levels which where a bit long... Yeah, I totally love the hack.

1. SMW: The Secret of the Seven Golden Statues

By far my favourite. The best level design of all hacks on the site, some nice graphical choices and good tracks selected. The ASM gimmicks like the power-ups and special moves just finished the amazing hack. I recommend this piece of epic to everyone.

I know, its just plain awesome, isn't it! Also, I just noticed that it was in the highest rated hacks. I seriously just was looking through the hacks, thought it was interesting looking, and played it (dead serious, I didn't look at reviews, or any videos. Nothing like that, I played it not knowing what it would look like from anything but the snapshots...same case with BTTC). Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this hack is epic!
I don't have a top 5 of favorite hacks as the only one that really stands out to me (and is genuinely fun) is The Second Reality Project Reloaded. Good level design, nice aesthetics and great music. The perfect example of how hacks should be.
I'd still say Mario's Keytastrophe is my all-time favorite hack. Playing through run-of-the-mill hacks becomes very mundane and the unique gameplay elements in this one are a great change of pace. Instead of predictably running from left to right and avoiding enemies to reach the goal, you actually have to put some thought into clearing levels as they're chock-full of environmental puzzles. Each level offers a cool new surprise or gimmick, which keeps things exciting as you progress through the hack.

As for other hacks, I have a hard time pinpointing favorites, but I have really enjoyed Buried Treasure, Super Mario TKO, Super Mario Odyssey, and SDW:TLC, just to a name a few that first pop into my mind.

Really, I can never settle on favorites, but ones I particularly like include (in no real order) Mario's Keytastrophe, Super Mario Underworld, A Super Mario Thing, 7 Golden Statues, Back to the Classics, Rise to the Challenge, Luigi and the Island of Mystery, Mario Gives Up, Mario's Strange Quest, Aether: The Paramount Omnibus, The Title is Irrelevant, An SMWCentral Production, Super Mario Odyssey (the old one), SMW2+3, Adventure Land: Legend of the Stars, The Artifacts of Marvelous Birds, and Super Puzzle World 3. (I might sound insane for saying SPW3, but that hack was brilliantly thought out despite how ridiculously confusing it is unless you know what you're doing)

... Geez that's a lot of hacks.

I haven't played that many hacks, so I can't really come up with a top five list. However, at least two of the hacks I've played are my personal favorites, which are Mario's Keytastrophe and Mario's Amazing Adventure.
Not really in any order, and I have yet to plat TSRPR which I have seen so much of.

The only hacks I really enjoyed:

Super Demo World
VIP 4
Bowsers Hideout
1-super mario odyssey
2-super puzzle world
3-forty2's hack with a pretentious name
4-vip mario 2
5-the coin hunt

1-cuz it made me want to hack
2-completely original ideas, at the time
3-it's just fun
4-hard as fuck, but fun
5-interesting idea
1. Brutal Mario
2. An super mario world central production (sorry if bad spelling)
3. World of illusion
4. The secret of the 7 golden statues
5. ?

I donīt know the 5th one yet.
1) SMW2+3: The Essence Star

It may be the most well-rounded hack I've played. It has decent level design, the graphics go together, there is enough ASM stuff to be interesting, the music fits...and it actually has a decent storyline. Maybe it's a little bit corny, but the plot in SMW2+3 is certainly better than most of them. My biggest complaint is that it's too darn short...a hack this nice should have had more like 90 levels rather than 42.

2) Bonni's Quest

This is, to date, the only graphic-swapped hack I've played where I didn't hate the graphic swaps. Besides the VERY nice graphics in this hack, its level design is all right (although the difficulty does seem to spike sometimes), it has some nicely-executed ASM gimmicks, and the storyline is rather intriguing. I also still don't know where the author found all the Oriental-sounding music for this...

3) The Tale of Elementia

Another well-rounded hack, and very creative. It had nice graphics and music, the levels were interesting (even if the nonlinearity often threw me for a loop), and the storyline, while not terribly intricate, was at least something fresh.

4) Super Mario TKO

I wish there were more progress being made on this hack...it seems to have just about everything. Custom bosses, custom-composed music...the levels are also fairly well-designed, albeit more difficult than I would like.

5) Mario's Keytastrophe

Okay, let me just say right now that this hack pretty much drove me nuts. Puzzles really aren't my thing, even in games where you don't die in one hit and have to restart the entire stage. But it had enough other redeeming features. The music, of course, was excellent (although some of it seemed maybe a bit too short and/or repetitive...), the GFX were selected well, the ASM fit the levels...and while the whole musical theme was unorthodox, it worked.

I could mention my 5 least favorite hacks as well (or 4, at least; I can't think of 5), but there's no need to. I can think of at least three other hacks that are noteworthy to me, but these are probably the biggest ones.
I never really played all that much hacks, but I have to say:

5) Super Mario Inundation (Now known as A Yoshi's Story) by CaptainDazz. It was a hack that had cutoff here and there, slowdown, and other bugs, and it repeated the same music throughout the whole game, which took about 30-40 minutes to complete. Why do I say this is good? Even though it wasn't good with the hack moderation guidelines, it showed a perfect example of being fun, even with things that people would just put down the hack in a few seconds. Super Mario Inundation was something that should have been submitted to the Vanilla contest 2011, minus some sublevels because its just that long.

4) Castle of WTF by Mariofan22. Its a Kaizo hack, yes, but who cares. It is a great hack, even though its breakable. It's fun in a variety of ways, the palettes are great, and the music choices too. It was fun to TAS through every jump that took a while to do. The creator, Mariofan22, has fixed this hack many times, and yet it is still breakable. It shows that nothing can be perfect, no matter how much work you put into it. Even if something is not breakable in this way, it may be breakable in a different way.

3) Panic in the Mushroom Kingdom 1 by GhettoYouth. I seem to like SMB3 styled hacks for some reason, and this was great. It was a hack I randomly chose to play at school while I was bored. I sent it to some friends to play, and they all had fun, even when they were horrible at it.

2) Mario and the Seven Golden Statues is another hack that is a favorite of mine. It is evident that a lot of time and effort was put into this hack, asm wise, and gfx wise. The levels sometimes were short, and sometimes long, but it was overall very fun. The asm gimmicks made the hack even more surprising. Even though there was a few ASM bugs, it was very fun.

1) I really cannot decide what to put here, but I actually was thinking about putting Hadron's "Mario In Japan" level here. It was amazing music-wise, and it again, was evident that a lot of time and effort was put into this level/hack. Though some parts of the level were extremely hard, even when playing with save states, and the boss was just downright difficult, it was fun playing through the level and enjoying the good music.

Yeah.

2 - SMW 2+3
3 - Mario's Keytastrophe
4 - The Tale of Elementia
5 - Super "Mario" World
I dont have a "top" five due to me not playing many hacks, Ive played less than 20, so probs 10-15 Ive played...

SMW Return to Dinosaur Land:
Very Vanilla, No custom pallettes. All thats here is solid SMW style levels. It doesnt stray to far from the orignal.

Perverted Creatures:
A one level hack that features line guides in the shape of penises.
:D

SMW Beta Hack
Its as close as were gonna get till a copy of the orignal is available. A really cool hack.

Pokeys Adventure:
The demo is old as hell compared to WYE's latest work but it is still awesome, first hack I played.

Adventure of the seven stars,
Made by Flareblade, I think the titles got changed.....
Anyways this is fun, it uses redrawn GFX in a nice way. Great level design!
I haven't played that many hacks neither, but hacks I really enjoyed were:

-Vip4: Well I like every hack from the Vip series but I feel like the fourth one has the best level design and graphics.

-Dan's Adventure: Good level design and not as hard as most hacks tend to be.

-Brutal Mario: I never found the level design to be that bad and the ASM gimicks are really cool. Also, since I'm a rather bad Mario player, I'm happy that it's a quite easy hack (or at least until world 5 or so).

-A Super Mario Thing: Awesome graphics, good level design.

-Every Level Morton: I really like the idea of that hack.

Adventure Land: Legend of the Stars, not Adventure of the Seven Stars. XD

... Even though yeah, he changed the title to Adventure Land: Darkness Rising. Much better title.
