So, you love Super Mario World hacking. Frankly, you don't think you'll ever buy another Nintendo or mainstream game because there are all these amazing SMW hacks to play! The only problem is that there are now so many SMW hacks that you don't have any idea which you might find the most fun to play!
In this thread, you can ask which hack you would enjoy playing the most. Please don't just say things like "lol i love smw wich hack shuld i play?" Put a bit of thought into your question, and make sure you indicate your preference for difficulty, custom stuff, and hack style (level-based, puzzle-based, etc.).
Similarly, here you can recommend hacks for others. Remember that just throwing out big names like TSRPR and SMWCP will get really redundant really fast. This isn't the Featured Hacks thread, so don't feel you need to over-glorify hacks too much, but at least put some thought into your recommendations.

Ah, I've been waiting for a thread like this to pop up, because I for one can't seem to find an enjoyable hack to play. Obviously, the hack mods got some suggestions.
Hack Preferences:
ExGFX
Custom Music
What hack do I want to play?: Well, I'm no mainstreamer, but I'd like to play a hack with a plot; however, that does not include your normal "Bowser kidnapped the princess" deal.
I don't like hacks that are made for just level design. I'd like one with an engaging plot of some kind please. Thank you.

I want to play a good puzzle hack. I NEED the brain stimulation. Although I would prefer puzzles that don't require kaizo-esque speed and reflexes. Super Mario Underworld (in the makings by Jacob) is a good puzzle hack, although there are some areas that require speed.

Super Puzzle World 3, It uses glitches I think and all puzzles are evil. It has no time limites due to its hardness.

Ah cool. I'm glad there's a thread like this.
I admit, I'm pretty picky about the kind of hacks that I play. I like to play a hack with mainly all the above
Custom: Graphics and Sprites.
I can live without custom music though.
I'd currently like to find a hack that involves Custom Graphics and Sprites with great level design that's difficult. I like hard hacks.
A Little bit of ASM and Custom bosses is just bonus but I'd mainly prefer everything above. Any Suggestions?

If I could choose a hack to play (and had the time to play it), I'd want it to be a chocolate hack (plenty of custom stuff) that is both interesting and easy enough for me to actually feel like playing it without savestates...and so far, no hack I've played yet has met these criteria. Bonni's Quest and SMW2+3 came close, but the former was too difficult (on occasion) and the latter too nonlinear for me not to use savestates. Bonus points if the hack also has a good story and/or works properly on bsnes.
I dare you to find one.

You're in luck. I happened to submit a hack long ago filled with custom graphics. (The best I've made of 2009) and it also has a plot too!
It's a featured hack, so I guess that gives me the right to nominate my own; atleast that's what I believe.

1. You don't need Skype--just go to the Hacks or Featured Hacks links on the sidebar to the right, and you'll come to a long list of hacks.
2. You have done exactly what I didn't want people to do--see my first post. Can you be a bit more. . .explicative on what kind of hack you want to play? Do you want it like the original SMW, or would you like custom graphics, sprites, and music to be in it?

A vanilla hack which is different from the usual vanilla stuff and that has custom music is what I am looking for. I couldn't find it anywhere.

What about Super Mario World 2 by Adam? Has what you asked for...vanilla graphics (with some minor tweaks) and custom music. Pretty fun levels too.

I'm glad you suggested this.
So far I've finished the first world and I'm loving the hack so far, I'm liking the graphics and I like the main character you are. Oh not to mention it's kind of difficult, at least for me but I like hacks with difficulty

Yeah, thanks Jacob. That was short but sweet. Pretty much "different" vanilla, but I meant something else.... Ugh why is it that hard to explain... Well, kinda like Lynnes' vanilla stuff. Those kind of levels in one hack is what I was looking for. But this hack was really well made and unique for sure.

I'd check out some of Zildjian's hacks in the Hacks section. He uses mostly vanilla graphics and incorporates several gimmicks into his levels.

I would like a "special" hack. A hack that isnīt a normal hack. More like:
Captain Mario
What Iīm trying to say is that I would like a hack that doesnīt have a story with bowser in it. Something strange!

Maz: Maybe try one of the Randorland hacks, they dont really have Bowser in, not that Ive seen.
George: Why dont you play Lunar Limbo, Uhrixs and GN's contest entry, its sick with all the vanila stuff turned into awesomer stuff!
