Hacking Super Mario World

Iv always been curious, are you people open when it comes to hacking Mario? Do you guys discuss it with your real life friends? There used to be a time (like a week maybe) where I hacked Mario and my friends (who are also gamers) thought it was neat, but me personally really didn't like it. It feels unrewarding because all you get is praise (if you're lucky) from online people, nothing more. And also because a huge majority of Mario hacks are essentially the same thing, just different level design (that's the way I see it). But back to the original question, is this something you guys mix with your normal lives? Or do you people completely separate Mario hacking and school or something?
Back when I did hack SMW, I talked about it frequently with my friends. They were dumbfounded that such a thing existed. Keep in mind this was before there were so many mainstream, in-game editors existed. Occasionally now that I stopped hacking SMW and began hacking Pokémon, it's become less of a topic but still interests friends at the idea of making new Pokémon.

I am open about it, mostly because I don't care what people think about it. If people think I am a nerd, then so be it. I have other qualities that help me make friends anyway.
Nope.
Blumiere you postcount++;er!!!

Also I tell my friends about pretty much all of SMWC. One of them has been pestering me on IRC a bunch lately.

Well me and my close friends are gamers, however we like to do more then games. (Just thought I should mention that)

Anyways it started off as me showing my brother then some of my close friends. They actually happen to fans of my work. Just recently I showed another friend them and he liked them as well. Every once in awhile my hack will get thrown in our convos, usually after I show them a new video of my levels then they give me ideas. I think it's awesome having fans in RL.

I don't see a big deal about being open about it. It's just like talking about any other game out there accept you can edit levels. Similar to little big planet or any other game you create stuff in. The only deal I see is if you have those type of friends who are like "OMG you play video games?" (Thank God I don't)

My best friend IRL certainly knows about it, and doesn't mind really, but unfortunately, a few other idiots sometimes annoy me because I like Mario. #w{=(}

Then again, I'm not the only Mario fan in my school.Free counters!
Well, when i told my friends about SMW hacking they said it was cool of me to do those things. Though they don't have interest on hacking stuff themselves and they're pretty much neutral about mario games and such so they neither like or dislike it.
I never tell anybody about SMWC or hacking at all, whatsoever. I don't hack Super Mario World, but I came to SMWC just to review SMW hacks. Right now, I can't review SMW hacks at this time, but soon I will tell my buddies about rating and reviewing hacks from SMWC.
Your layout has been removed...NOT! :D
I recently came up to a friend of mine and told him I was working on a Mario hack. His only reaction to that was "Heh, how is it turning out?". I suppose he doesn't really mind after all.

Never told anybody other than him about SMW hacking, though.
I haven't talked all that much about SMW hacking in real-life. I've mentioned it to a few people I know as "game modding", but haven't ever gone into too much detail. Although, I have been talking about it a lot with a co-worker and have been showing him progress on Super Mario Underworld. He's even played it, and he's quite impressed by it.
Lots of friends and acquaintances of mine know that I am hacking SMW. Some are impressed by the work and some don't really give a damn about it.
I play different games on Twitch, I did speedruns of Pokemon Red and Gold, Mario Party 4, but I also do SMW stuff.
I only stream to make progress on my hack currently. Check out my twitch!

There is only a few people that I discuss Mario Hacking with. Only one of them is on the Central, and he ain't even active anymore.
I no longer hack, but when I did I had no fear in telling my family and friends. They seemed quite interested, actually. When I got my staff position, I let it slip on Facebook, and people though it was like some kind of high-paying job on some mainstream game-design site.
Somewhat, but I rarely talk a lot about it. Only when I was working on some intense ASM projects, did I tell about it. A regular SMW hack is... too generic to boast about. =P
--------> Don't follow "Find Roy's Dignity", my hack. Because it's pretty outdated. <--------
I don't at all. I'm the only one who knows about it around me. I'm not too open about these things because I don't think many people would be interested in hacking an old game. All they care about is Call of Duty. >_>
Well, i used to talk about it to someone else who used to hack (in fact, we both got downloaded lunar magic the same day, but without even talking to each other about it. It makes me think he must have been looking at my youtube viewing history or something, otherwise it was just a huge coincidence) but he stopped hacking and i don't really talk about it any more.
Well, a friend of mine IRL used to hack SMW before me, he showed Lunar Magic to me, and that's when I tried it before hacking YI, then returning to SMW recently.Free counters!
I've tried on several occasions to get a friend into romhacking
So far, I've failed every time =/

Me and my brother used to hack SMW together, but that faded away for him. He lost interest in doing it.

My friends are not as gamers as i am so i dont really share this hacking thing with them.
