Yes, there are several power plants of varying sorts in that area. Still, most of them seem to have coped with the flooding well enough though.
also I started worrying for Masashi but apparently he lives in Yokahoma(which is essentially nextdoor to Tokyo) so he should be okay.

As usual, most of the other countries don't really have to worry much. Evacuations were taken in Russia and Taiwan, just to name a couple (and the former appeals more to me personally), but really, because it's much further away from the epicentre the waves also aren't quite as high.
Japan itself, however, got the full load. I'm sure they'll make it back up, but this obviously also doesn't help their economical situation. Best of luck to anyone who lives there.

Geeze. What are the chances of all this happening at the same time?
It's like, all over the world there are natural disasters.

Wow, this sure was a horrible thing.
Yesterday, I had the suden feeling that somethin bad was going to happen, and that feeling got bigger while the moment was approaching. I'm usualy too sceptical and I don't realy belive in this kind of things, but when my dad told me about this in the morning I was convinced my feeling was linked to this...but now I think about it, maybe it was just a coincidence.
I realy hope Romi and Carol are allright.

Actually, the earthquake caused the tsunami.
I do hope everyone's OK in Japan, Hawaii, and the West Coast, but the death toll in Japan seems to be in the hundreds.

I saw the picture of Sendai Airport on TV. The runway was underwater. So I assumed that Sendai Airport was next to the ocean. Yes, I imagined an airport by the beach. Later, the narrator from NHK World explained that Sendai Airport is 1 kilometer away from the ocean. Worse, the tsunami went as far as 10 kilometers.
They closed all the rails and all the elevated highways in the Tokyo area. If I understand what I saw and heard on TV, then the rush hour from Friday evening (Tokyo time) continued past midnight into Saturday. Seems like the worst commute ever!

When I found out about 4 million homes losing power, hundreds dead, and the sixth most powerful earthquake ever recorded, I felt terribly unwell. It's nice to see that almost all countries immediately lent help, but I just hope that everyone there can hold on, survive, and rebuild.
They were pretty sensible with the nuclear power plants, though. No radiation leaks to my knowledge.
EDIT: This morning, I read that there were about 60 confirmed deaths. Now, I recently read that there were a thousand. I expected that, and yet I still wasn't really ready for it.
EDIT 2: Shit!

Just you wait until the whole of Sydney is obliterated by Tsunami. Where's your God now? Why, he's the one who's doing all this!
Yeah, anyway, if that plant blows, we can kiss Nintendo and Sony goodbye.

I do hope so as well...
I mean jeez, remember when Katrina hit Amerika or with that other hgue tsunami?
I've actually never heard of that like ever, I hope Japan has a different faith and will actually live through this and build itself up again.
Edit:
Nintendo actually is more to the south west IIRC.

Well, I'll be flat out honest here. Nintendo is the only thing I would probably be hurt by the loss of in Japan. It's times like these that I despise the fact I'm used to all this death garbage.

The sad thing is is that I don't really feel any sympathy for the victims. The only people I'm worried about are the people at NoJ.
Also, I'm worried that the world will be destroyed. But then again... we DID almost face the destruction of the ocean with the oil spill. And that didn't happen. Hopefully everything will be alright.

A 10 on the richter scale is a ground tsunami. The ground LITERALLY moves in waves! It would make this look like spilled milk.

Damn, this is the second earthquake above 7 that I heard Japan was hit by, and it makes the other earthquake look like a vibrating message chair set on low. If the earthquake is around 9 on the Richter Scale, then that means that the whole world can feel the earthquake IIRC. I'm not surprised that a lot of people were killed in the earthquake, but I'm pretty surprised that tsunamis caused this much destruction for some reason.
...Also, here in California, all I heard so far was that Santa Cruz and a bunch of harbors have been wrecked by the tsunamis. It probably happened between 8:00 and 3:00 (PST), because I was at school and didn't hear of the tsunami damage until after.

This earthquake was the main topic at school. I personally find it scary that an earthquake of such a high magnitude is actually possible. Not only that, but the tsunami that went all the way to California. Now that's pretty scary. It's sad to see all those people die, with their families grieving. The world's a pretty harsh place, and this earthquake is showing it.

Now's not exactly the time to be making Godzilla jokes...
I'm still very afraid for the country in general, mostly because of the aforementioned nuclear power plants. Luckily, the workers are taking precautions. The idea that their best might not be good enough is nothing but pessimism, so let's not think about that at the moment.

I hope they pull out of this alright. I saw video feeds of the flooding this morning and it was horrible; literally an unstoppable wave of destruction. In regards to the power plant, it seems that U.S. troops have sent additional coolant which should hold them over for the time being. In much less serious news, the life-sized Gundam they have over there toppled:

Obviously it's not even comparable to the tragic deaths so far, but...
