Ever had a game that you just could NOT put down for the life of you? Talk about this game here.

Mine is Diablo. Will talk about it later.
Minecraft. (Explains itself)

/thread. This is the same for me, but for a while I couldn't stop playing Modern Warfare 2.
a game called jump ultimate stars. it's a terrible game with a terrible community. the only reason i played it so much was the community was okay enough to be fun, now there is no reason to play it.
Any time I get a new game, especially a game that I wanted to play badly, I can't put it down until I've either beaten it, got stuck at some point for too long, or I get bored with it. The most recent game I got was Pokemon White, and I played it all day for two days after I got it.
Pokemon black, Professor Layton, Team fortress 2...
The list goes on and on...
I'll never understand why people suddenly began using the word "addicting" in place of "addictive" when describing video games. "Addicting," a gerund (a type of verb used as a noun), would imply that the game itself is making an action toward someone or something, and we all know that video games are inanimate objects...so this usage is just silly. I hope everyone who has been making that mistake will learn something from reading this.

Anyway, I find most main series Pokemon games addictive, as well as MMORPGs that I actually get into and start playing. In fact, MMORPGs can take hold of certain people so tightly that I've actually sworn them off in fear of becoming addicted to yet another one (my last one was Final Fantasy XI, and I played for five years).
damn, back when Legend of Zelda Oot was out, my dad (30 something of age at the time) would never turn the game off. He eventually stopped playing most games in general once he finished the game and found FUCKEN EVERYTHING! (i didn't even bother going for the gold skullta'a).

I never really had that issue with a game though... If i had to decide on a game to go OCD on, it would probably be Megaman battle network 5, but who knows, once i can finally get Minecraft, that may be my answer. But i think I'll be more in the hunting of monsters and the nether then actually building stuff.

..oh yea, my dad was also like that with Pokemon Red and MY silver.

crap, i feel like playing emerald now

Edit: List of games my dad is/used to be addicted to:

Zelda; Oot
Pokemon red/sliver/blue.
Adventure quest (i am not joking)
Poker games (he still does this)

I can think of two games i used to love to play;

Combat Arms (L96A1, Roadkill, 24-0...Never forget)
Maplestory

Final fantasy XII, a lot of people hate this game because of how different it is to the others and the fact that the whole battle system is completely different to the previous games, but to be rather honest with you i just couldn't stop levelling up my characters and fighting monsters, there was something about it that i found addictive, i feel the same about final fantasy X, i could grind for hours and not get bored, however final fantasy XIII sucks crusty balls, its sooo boring the story is confusing and you probably only understand after going through the game a few times, which i don't think anyone is dumb enough to do.

Woops i went a little off topic there, but yeah...also i think collums on the sega megadrive goes off the scale of addictiveness!
Any free time I have is almost immediately spent on LittleBigPlanet 2.
At the moment I wouldn't say I'm addicted to any game, but the game I found the most addictive would for sure be Pokémon Emerald, even though I found most games from the Pokémon series quiet addictive.
When I got the game I linked all my Pokémon from other Versions on the Emerald Version and I played the game nearly always when I had time to. This is probably the reason why I haven't played any other games than the ones from the Pokémon series back then. For some reason I lost my game data with everything I achieved like 4 or 5 times during the time I played this game, but then I just started from the beginning.

I'm not at all anymore addicted to the series, I think either because I'm too old, or just because I played it to much and am sick of the principe of the game now^^. Another reason might be that I don't like the style of the Pokémon from Gen 4+ because they look much too cartoony and unrealistic, allthough they already did that in Gen 3 when I think about it.

Mah boi, you can NEVER be too old to Pokemon!
I can't really get addicted to any game, I always get to that point where I get bored of it. Often when the game is beaten 100%
Usually I get addicted by a pokemon game, and when I'm getting bored of it, I'll take a hiatus( sometimes a long one) and then I play the game again.
I have 700 hours on Pokemon Platinum, 400 on HeartGold, and I currently have 86 on Pokemon White. I've stayed up till 3-4 AM the past two days IV breeding Pokemon because I'm a legit player like that. I haven't even beaten the champion, I went straight for the competitive route. (of course I could probably run in there with the level 100 Hydregion that I bred and trained myself, thus obliterating the champion. But where's the fun in that?)

Yeah, Pokemon is serious business and I play it all the time.

Multiple Castlevanias, with the main ones being Symphony of the Night, Dawn of Sorrow, and Harmony of Despair. The so called "Metroidvania" style of Castlevania games are very expansive, and I never get tired of replaying them over and over (Which is a trait needed to play Harmony of Despair, since it takes that style to the extreme by adding in random drop chests along with the random enemy drops, and you'll have to play each stage a large number of times before you'll get anything good).
Mario Kart : Double Dash (time trials). And Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Other than that, nothing I would really call an addiction.
SMW hacks, Pokemon, Minecraft, blah blah blah BLAH.

How doyou guys even manage to freaking train those things to level 100 in like a day O_o
I usually take about a month if not more.

But seriously, HOW!?
I'd love to do a psychological study on what makes games truly addicting for people one day, but a common trend seems to be either a) sandbox games, or b) games where you can watch numbers get higher (i.e. any MMORPG). We, as humans, tend to get some sort of joy out of seeing our level go up from 6 to 7, or watching something we're building continue to reach completion (the Minecraft case).

As for me, I've fallen victim to being "addicted" to MMOs before (Everquest, Maple Story, couple of others), but it usually doesn't last long.
