This is highly unlikely. From what I've seen, next to nothing is done without the public's knowledge/approval. Not necessarily a bad thing, I guess just wishful thinking and hopes that if there is a shop something nice would be planned.
If all else fails just have one with basic powerups for people who may need them for levels later in the game. For those who don't, the shop shouldn't be a problem for you, if your not using it you shouldn't have any worrys about it. If there are no plans of a shop, a secret like in SMW with powerups would be fine. If you don't have trouble later in the game you probably wont need to use it. For those who are having trouble it'll be there.

With the smwc coin unlockables, perhaps they unlock trophy rooms with "powerup pedestals". When mario interacts with these he gains the powerup, as long as it's of a higher priority. You'd start off with just mushroom/fireflower/cape ones after a small amount, then the rare powerups come along.

Purchasable powerups in the Shop that are stored in a SMB3-styled menu you can access from the OW? I quite like that idea, but I have no idea how hard it would be to code.
EDIT: Maybe you could, like, start out with 3 slots then buy more in packs of 3 with SMWC coins, with a maximum of 12 or something like that? But then, that's just making it even harder to code and set up...

I think regular coins should just be 100=1-up, and the shop, if it's going to be inserted, should be where you use the SMWC coins, but not for regular old powerups. And having the SMWC coins used in the shop shouldn't affect the entry to special world. But even then, It's hard to balance all that in a correct way, that doesn't remove all challenge from the game, but still feels like a decent reward.

I think it's great if it's a secret.

Secret ripoffs are the best kind. This way, you do not feel like an ordinary sucker of the sort born every minute, but rather a dupe of a much rarer breed, who will not settle for merely being hoodwinked by your common, run-of-the-mill huckster, but who instead, exercising the utmost fastidiousness and discrimination, searches far and wide for a mountebank of only the highest quality to beschnook themselves to. An arduous process, make no mistake, but the result is all the more satisfying for it.

You need to be a stupid shopkeeper to hide your shop.

Okay, I have a proposal here.
You should be able to buy 1UPs for 100 coins, and maybe moons for 300 coins. Makes up for the loss of the 100 coins = instant 1UP, wouldn't you agree?

I feel moons, in your example, should either be more or less than 300 coins, as it seems pointless to have the 3UP the same as 3 1UPs. - Maybe in this case have 280 coins for a moon, as they are then actually saving for mass buying.

how about moons=270 coins? since you need 270 coins in the first place, its faster 1up=100coins, but if you have the cash, you get the gooddeal.

I don't think it's a good idea to buy 1 Ups in a shop, because if you are in a level let's say with "Uh-oh" 2 Lives, you want to get another one with collecting some coins but if that doesn't work anymore that would be very disappointing for non savestate using players (like me)
Like in the shop the coins lose their purpose, with a shop you could make "every level you can get like idk 80 coins" for Example
I do not like that at all..

Can't you take it another step?
6 1UP's = 500 coins
Or maby you can buy something really special for 2000 (if possible). Maby a custom power up?

Well, from what I've heard, the SMWC coins already serve a purpose where collecting them all will unlock World 9. Still, I don't see any purpose of the shop at the moment. But the idea of using the SMWC coins for unlockables is a good one.
