A Vanilla Journey is a one World Vanilla hack I started working on in 2010. I plan to have 6 or 7 (depends on whatever I feel like doing) levels in the hack with one being a Switch level (might not be a palace) and another being a Castle. So far I have finished the title screen and built two levels.

First, here is the Title Screen & Intro:
Video
Screenshots included too:

Next, here are the levels (pics linked due to large dimensions):

Level 1 - Ice Cream Valley
Main area
Bonus room

Level 2 - Name to be decided (suggestions welcome)
First area
Second area
Bonus room

No Overworld pics as I haven't started that yet.

This looks really vanilla-ish.
The pallettes definatly stand out which of course is a good thing.
Good luck on finishing this, Ive seen some of your others works such as the Cave Escape. :3
I like the palettes on the second level and how you make the ice cream in the first level. This is looking very nice. Just an idea for the second level name: Greeny Hills.
While this is a nice hack, I really don't like the palettes of the FGs.

The "dirt circles" should have a lighter color than the dirt around them. In the bonus room, there's no shadow under the ground. It's the first palette in row 3 besides transparency, white, and black.
The stars look sort of weird since they're brown. Make the stars use another palette. The bushes have a strange dark dot in them. It looks odd. I like the ice cream cones, but maybe you could make the black outline on the bottom dark brown

In the first area of level two, you ALMOST have it. Make the dirt circles a little brighter, along with the ? blocks. I understand it's night, but the colors look a little weird. The dirt looks odd, because normally dirt is brownish and here it's... green? Unless it's like a toxic grassland or something, then it's cool.
The second room is fine, but the bonus room is waaay too bright for my eyes. Specifically, it's the BG and the "Used" blocks. Tone the palettes down a bit. As for the Yoshi Coin, you're good, but make sure palette animation is turned off for that area.

Level design wise, it seems pretty good. Nothing looks very repetitive or tedious. However, there are some problems I would like to address:

In the intro level, there is some dirt floating in the air. That kind of dirt should be on the side, above, or below a wall.

For the first level, it seems like you have a habit of putting two enemies of the same kind one after the other. I'm not really sure if this is intentional or not, so eh.
Next to the "Secondary Exit 00", there is a ledge that has two edges even though it's next to a wall. It should be connected to the wall. The last thing is the hidden block maze- in the first level, this may turn some players off. Another thing is that you could be more conservative in your use of them.

The only problems I have with the second level are at the end- that's a lot of green koopas. (Six, to be precise) Seems like a bit too much, huh? And then there's the bullet bill generator about two screens from the exit. I don't really get why that's there.

In short, this isn't all that bad. If you work on it, it could be a good hack.
1UP: Thanks, I hope to finish it too.

RaindropDry: I like that name so I may use that.

102: I'll definitely look into fixing those issues. Thanks for listing all these things.
Eh, it's... well, I'm not liking much of this. The title screen palettes aren't all that great. The first level has a cool sepia look to it, but it could polished a little better. The levels aren't repetive or too difficult, though... the munchers? There are a bunch of munchers. Some jumps look tedious to attempt (without savestates) but maybe not.
I like this. Keep up the good work!
Please brighten the dirt dots in the cookie palette, as I don't like it that much. Hmm... this looks just like another MF22 vanilla hack, but I'm not really sure if that's positive or not. Some more spiced up levels would be nice, but the level design is fun.
Changed the palettes of the stars in level 1 and the FG palette in level 2:

Also, I have now started level 3 which is currently named Pink Cliffs.

I used the ExAnimation method here to insert the Classic Piranha Plants. There are Piranha Plants in the third screen, I took the screenshot at the wrong time.
I also fixed many of the things 10204307 pointed out.

Yes, I am still working on this. Ignore the screens in the post above, those are outdated. I have finished level 3 and redesigned level 2.

Level 2 - Click - I got rid of that boring net climbing autoscroll section.

Level 3 videos - Normal Exit / Secret Exit

I'm currently working on the Yellow Switch level. This will NOT be a just a generic Coin collectathon. Here are some screens:

The finished level will have a pipe that will take Mario to the Switch.
This looks pretty good. I like the third level's design, because it is very confined/claustrophobic, which is always good for caves.

I cannot see any cut-off or other errors in the design, and I can't wait for it to come out so I can play it. :P
Chanagaburu - Thanks! #w{=)}

Now I have a video of level 2: Click
Sorry for double post but I have now finished the Yellow Switch Cavern. Here are the screens:

The level looks good so far, but the yellow palette looks somewhat eye-searing to me. If you darken it, it will look much better. Trust me.
MAJOR UPDATE: Level 4 is now finished! It's called Lava Cave.

Here is the video
OMG RED STEM PIRANHA PLANT! DAH HACKS GUNNA BLOWZ UP!!!

Nah, jk.
The level is looking well designed! Palettes are great to, Nice work!
LOL! #w{xD} The reason they're red is because I used ExAnimation to get the Piranha Plant stems in place of the flopping Cheep-Cheep.
But anyway, thanks for the comment. #w{=)}

I decided to post screenshots as well in case anyone can't view the video.

It is looking really cool, though I recommend applying the Piranha Plant Fix patch.
Well it is Vanilla but I suppose I could do that.
Double post but I have started level 5. I'm going for a volcanic theme here. Here is a screen:

This will be the penultimate level of the hack. The castle will follow after this.
