You probably should ignore a bunch of the newer screenshots seeing as how I have changed a lot of this...
I have been working on this hack for a while now, it features custom GFX, sprites, blocks, vwf cutscenes, music, etc.
Here is a few screenshots.
The Overworlds

And some levels




(^That is the intro level!)



Alot of these are rips I made...others are from this site. Sprites and blocks are from this site too, This romhack has about 4/25-30 exits.
There are still a few bugs/glitches I am gonna fix. But this is what I have done so far over about a month.

The 3rd overworld looks WAYY to much like the regular Valley of Bowser.
The GFX conflicts a bit, though.

Totally agreeing with Riot here.
But your levels look pretty cool! Add in a bit more decoration and it'll look better.

First of all: I like the Lunardrake's grassland palette. It looks very bright and cheerful.
However, the overworld palettes are not very good, and some levels look really bland, like the level with the DK cannons, the intro level, the mountain level and the underwater level. Work on adding more decoration to these areas.
Aside from this, you have a pretty good hack

Sounds about right.
I forgot to say it, the final OW is an evil land.... second OW is basically hell. First overworld is just a casual place grassland.
The third overworld has palletes that are actually really hard to understand. They are all used in specfic ways. The DKC barrels level right now is a sublevel, I am thinking of making it a longer sublevel because I really like the BG there.
Thanks for the compliments and I will work on the level decorations a little bit.
The screenshots with the P-Switch isn't into a death pit, there is invisible teleport blocks which lead to an underwater level.

Oh, the story is:
Mario is traveling to the evil land of Toron (just a made up name my friend thought up) to get the essence of serenity. There was a storyteller telling a story about this essence which is how Mario found out about it. He decides to go (ovbiously)
Here is what the storyteller says. "Come come, gather round one and all!
Witness a tale of a evil land known as
Toron. Toron has been known to be hold
of the sacred essence of serenity. Only those brave enough to venture ever knew if it existed! But none ever returned.
The one to retrieve this information will be a legend forever!" That was taken from the story the storyteller was telling, which is in a cutscene so I copypasted the words from that into here while taking out the commands vwf cutscene tool uses.
First overworld is casual land. Second OW is hellish cave, I.E Head. Third is the evil land itself. It will have the bowser lightning in the BG like VoB did.

Seems cool, I like the first OW, and the palettes seem nice. The story isn't too bad either, after all,
it is called "A Simple Story." Good Work, but as the others have said, add more decorations.

The overworld is pretty nice over-all, but there are some perspective errors and cutoff I'd like to point out.

The red is cutoff, orange is perspective error, and blue is something I'd like to show you and such.
You see 1 right? Now, you may not see anything in 1. Look at 2, In two, you see two blue circles. The top-right blue circle you can see has no shadow on the corner, and the bottom-left circle has a shadow on the corner. Now you see 1, it needs that shadow there. Along with all the other circles I placed. The perspective errors came from the land masses not being straight, or just being strange.
Also, in one of the screenshots, I thought that a palette kinda looked gross:

E: disabled layout otherwise page stretch
Oh, you should also use .png for image files, because bmp has a ridiculously large file size.

Thanks and sorry xD I will change some of the palletes.
And I have updated these levels a while ago! I dont want to take anymore screenshots until I have more levels done though.

I haven't been able to update this lately because I haven't been able to find my Seagate portable 500ish GB hardrive. But I found it so I will be updating this thread soon unless something comes up in real life.

Wow, that... really doesn't look good. The BG and FG really clash a lot and the palette of the FG grass layer is horribly shaded. There is also cutoff, in the little ground ledge coming up. So yeah...

I am going to post updates to the stuff now. So heres the updates.
The new overworlds, only World 1 was updated to my remembering, and there is a few fixes in the new OWs.

(An update to the last screenshot I posted that really wasn't very good)


^ A new level, Mario is at the top if you can't see him. That FG was actually an ice FG first, but I altered the pallete and Map16 to make it look like that, and I know, the tiles look a little odd.

^ I added some trees colored to fit the ones in the BG here and fixed up the FG pallete a little
And here is the first castle, which I can finally post because I have gotten the sprite status bar to work.

I have no idea what BG/FG I am going to use for the last grassland level I still have to make. But I will find something soon.

I have been doing alot of work on this hack lately. Here is some screenies of the new work.

Heres a sublevel that I am using for the level with the boss bass.

Heres the third level of World 1, once I finish this level and the mountain level I might be able to release my demo.

That is the title screen^, the words will be there soon.

Just showing its compatable with the Mario ABC text.

Wow, I love that title screen, great job with that!
The first OW looks OK, but you should definately redo the palettes of the second and the third OW, and, like Riot said, the third looks way to familiar with the Valley of Bowser. You should redo that one too.

Thanks! And I will definetly keep working on the overworlds, world 1 is all I am worried about since I might release the demo once that is finished. I have only done rough outlines of World 2+3. And that title screen does have a little bit of red that is usually brown, its just title screen stuff, I am going to fix that soon.

Sounds good, and no I didnt get it from the GFX section, 80% (Or more) GFX in this hack were ripped by me to make it easier and more organizable, with the exceptions of a few FGs and BGs (I ripped my first FG a week or so ago)

Well! I have been working on this hack ALOT in the past few weeks, and I am proud to say I will be able to release the demo of this hack soon! Sometime this month/early next month. If anyone wants to beta test before I release the demo then feel free to post here and I will PM you the IPS.
I have no updated screenshots, but I have finished alot of incomplete levels. Theres only 2 levels still needing to be complete, 1 level is halfway done, the other is just barely started.
