I got my answer to the possibility of playing as another character, and now I am stuck. I am trying to insert the GFX file to the hack by "inserting hack" on the file menu. The GFX file that I downloaded is untampered. What am I doing wrong this time. I can only find tutorals on how to insert "EX"GFX files in SMWcantral.net and in youtube. I need help!
I'll point you to this topic to see if that will answer your question.
(Assuming that the file you have is a GFX##.bin where ## is a hex from 00-33)
Open ROM in Lunar Magic.
In the options menu, make sure that the "Use joined GFX files" is UNchecked.
Click the Red Mushroom button.
Go to the folder where your ROM is. A new folder called "Graphics" has been created.
BACK UP THIS FOLDER IN CASE OF ERROR.
Copy the new GFX##.bin that you have into the Graphics files, replacing whichever one it would overwrite.
Back in Lunar Magic, click Green Mushroom.
Change levels in LM to reload.
Test.

HUGE EDIT
Unless of course you want to have multiple character graphics. In which case you will want to use the Player ExGFX patch in harmony with whatever GFX you have.

Thanks, but I am unsure that whatever file I will replace will end up having missing GFX in the hack. Does it matter?
You can open the file that you have in YY-CHR and compare it to the original.
As of right now I have downloaded the yy-chr tool v 0.99. now one problem, is it supposed to be in formula language? Can I change the language to English so that I can understand it? If so help me.
In the YY-CHR folder, rename the file "yychr.ENG" to "yychr.ENU" That will change the language to English.
Ah, thanks. I've been looking for a way to translate YY-CHR. Not that I couldn't figure it out, but because running it in Japanese caused me issues if I were to ever change my computer's language settings. Was on the verge of looking for a different tile editor.
Just so you know, it says it in the description of YY-CHR in the tools section...

yychr.ENG must be renamed yychr.ENU to change the tool to English. Either this or change the extension to your system's current language (see yychr_language.txt)
I have one last problem. I have change the palette of the playable character to the correct collors, but I noticed a white block surrounding my character. Did I do something wrong? Do I have to start all over with a new copy of the GFX?
Hmmm... as in, instead of transparency, there is white?
yes. I am trying to make it transparent. Can you help me how to make it transparent again?
Did the graphics that you used come with a custom palette? Or did you try to make it on your own? And if so, in what program (e.g. YY-CHR or in LM)?
It came with graphics, but all of the color was out of order, so I use one of the lines below the editing table and fixed the color from scratch. I then opened up Lunar Magic and open the palette and have the YY-CHR palette next to it to change it to the correct colors. I know which horizontal line is the player palette in Lunar Magic.

Well the very first column is the transparency... but unless you enabled the level-specific custom palette then you cannot change that color. So the graphics must be using the second column (white) instead of the transparency. So in that case, you will need to (in YY-CHR) make all of that area out of the first column (trans).

Just in case you didn't know, whatever the colors are in YY-CHR don't matter. The palette in LM is all that matters.
Thanks a lot. You save me a lot of trouble.
Glad to help! :)
