Welcome to my C3 SM64 hack! It feels like I've been working forever on this (despite the fact a started it just a few weeks ago!). I've got an awesome plot to go with it as well, it goes something like:

Awesome plot huh?
Also, I decided to have a little "guess the song" competition for my main level BGM. All you have to do is play my hack, and listen the the BGM playing in the background. Then just reply in this thread what game do you think it belongs to. You can have as many guesses as you want, all in the name of fun
Instructions:
1) Download an US SM64 ROM off the internet. (Sorry no linky)
2) Open the "C3 2011" folder and then the folder called "M64ROMExtender1.3b"
3) Open the file called "M64ROMExtender1.3b.exe"
4) Click on "Open Rom" and select your SM64 Rom
5) Wait
6) Now you should see a second file that ends in "ext.z64". Drag that into "rom_expand.exe".
7) Finally, just open ppf-o-matic and patch the your ROM with "MonochromeMario64.ppf"
Screenshot Spree!

Download the patch here: http://www.box.net/shared/2g7ps0jbvx
... And if your lazy you can just download a special savestate to play the level from an untouched SM64 ROM (try it, It's amazing) - http://www.box.net/shared/g4tte5och0 (edit: here's instructions on how savestates works link)
Small thanks to YouAreSuperMario for the idea!

Looks nice! I've never seen an SM64 hack before. Do the black and white colours fit in with the hack's story?

Yes, I find it very... original. I like that from a hack. The SM64 concept is also quite new, so I'm also enjoying the originality there too.

No, I haven't tried this hack. But going from the photo's, this is what I have to say:
- The Monochrome getup is really annoying and eye-searing
- The pokey looks downright weird
- The levels appear to be quite well made, actually, compared to most other smb64 hacks

Well eye-searing aside, I thought this way was both innovative and a great way to different itself with my current on-going hack (Alternate Reality Mario 64).
The Porkey's was actually my friends idea, I thought it was weird but I like weird so I kept it in.
I really wanted the level design to be the main focus of this hack. If users can feel that, than I've done my job.
Thanks for all the comments guys!

I never thought monochrome palletes could hurt my eyes. Until now. Interesting anyways, eh.

On second thoughts, I'd make it grayscale, rather than black and white. It'd be much less eye-searing if you did that.

I would of, but I lost the Sketchup files that contain the model a week ago.

Hey, aren't you gonna credit me for the initial idea?
And can you give me a clue what the BGM is?

So thats what your layout was hinting on at.
Looks nice and its good to see that there is still and interest in SM64 hacking. 3D stuff seems so fun to work with. Nice concept with the monochrome colours.

Interesting idea. I like the palettes, they're fitting and not too eye-searing (for me). Very original.

I still don't get the BGM on your stage.
Is it from an RPG? A Mario game? A NES game?

Also, does anyone have anyone have any ideas for my next mini SM64 hack? I'm taken ALL suggestions.

OK, I give up. Either I haven't played the game or I don't recognize it with the SM64 instruments.

Perhaps better textures for the ground. You could be inspired by waht you see elsewhere.

If I had more time I probably would of. Also, here's some more screen-shots from this hack,

And here's the link to the MIDI that I converted into the BGM of this level.
LINK. Can anyone still guess what game it's from?
