This is my first and only hack to date, I've been working on it since 2008, and now it's finally released. It's 32 levels long, I hope you enjoy it.

Click to download (update: v1.2)!

Plot:
One day a mysterious black pipe suddendly appeared in the Mushroom Kingdom, in front of the Toadstool Castle. Mario decided to explore inside it, and he was teleported to an unknown island called Full Moon Island. Little did he know that there wasn't any way back... apparently. Other people were trapped there, so he began to roam around in search of an escape.

Gameplay videos:
Extravaganza
Eternal Sunset
Ol' Rusty Boat
Sharp Horizon (outdated)
Skull Lake (new!)

My opinion:

1. You need to use the samples provided with the Donkey Kong Country music you're using. So far, many of the music actually destroys my ears to listen to (oddly enough, even the Hollijolli Village one, which doesn't even require samples). Especially noticeable with Rockface Rumble.

2. Why does the last boss say he'll return, when it's the last level and you can't continue beyond that point?

3. Why is your last boss a monster which barely tries to kill Mario? It seems more like a designated villain than anything:

Possibly with a bit of:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OffstageVillainy

The first battle with said thing is even worse, it doesn't attack.

There are some good ideas though, like the sunset level, and some of the fake HDMA trickery used, but the final world with it's 'endless whatever' levels just got dull.
1. Every DKC music IS sampled. What's your emulator? I tested right now with the latest versions of ZSNES and BSNES, and the samples works.

2. Because there could be a sequel in the future. It's something that villains often say before disappearing.

3. The "thing" is 32x32 tiles big, he's much faster than Mario, he runs against him for the whole battle and sometimes he even spawns enemies. How couldn't he barely try to kill Mario? In the previous battle he isn't supposed to do anything than just suffering the attacks.
As I said on the C3 thread, I really enjoyed playing it thanks to a good level design, in addition to the others hack's characteristics. Great work.

ZSNES. I'll test it again, but I heard beeping like sounds.

Fair enough. I guess I just expected a secret world or something because so many hacks have them now.

I meant the first battle you mentioned. I just felt the fact he didn't do anything jarred massively with the supposed 'evil' acts he was responsible for.

Although the second battle was pretty easy, bar the pretty large amount of health the boss had.
The bleeping sounds could be a problem of the musics or the samples themselves, some of them interfere with the channels used for the jump and other sounds. Unfortunately I can't do anything to fix it.

However, I released it again because I found a broken secondary exit and some minor palette problems, here's the new hack page.

And here's a new gameplay video of the level Eternal Sunset.

Yeah..this looks amazing. I'm going to defiantly have to try this out.
I'll let you know what I think on a review or something.
Thanks.

Another gameplay video, of the level Ol' Rusty Boat, here.
Just been playing this hack and it's very good. However I came across an error:
->
This icy pipe takes me to a level I already played. I don't think that's supposed to happen.
Also, the DKC music causes the jumping sounds to go weird.
Thank you. I've already fixed the secondary exit bug, I resubmitted the hack some days ago, the new version is here. Some minor palette problems were also fixed.

Unfortunately I don't know how to fix the jumping sound problem, if it's possible.

Oh my god this hack starts off kinda bland but it gets absolutely awesome around the third world. The level design is really fun, the music was amazing (what was the song used on the credits?), and the plot... I LOVE IT. I have a feeling that I've seen a really similar story in something else, but it's awesome and creepy and strange and awesome. I can't believe this is only your first hack!

Great job, dude.
Just started playing this and got up to the 2nd world. Just curious, but how did you insert the original soundtracks? Don't you need a patcher or something to insert it? Btw, it sounds awesome.
Addmusic.

Thank you. The credits music is Crime of the Heart, followed by Creatures From the Silent Sea, both from Rudra no Hihou and mixed together by Red&Green. You can find a list of the musics and their respective levels in the readme.

Thanks. As GoldenSonic said you need AddMusic to insert custom musics, this is its latest version.

One more gameplay video here.
