The new lightning engine may look really nice, but it plays havoc with my frame rate. Even with all the graphical settings turned down, I still get minor cases of slowdown rather frequently, especially underground. D:

Other than that, though, I'm really enjoying the update. I found a whole bunch of neat stuff that I could use for traps while exploring caves; it's just a pity I have absolutely no idea how to craft wires so that I can actually use them. :V Apparently it takes material beyond the basic stuff, since the guide is of absolutely no help on the matter.

You can change the lightning back to the old style by pressing F9(or was it F10?), so you could try that.

That does help a lot. Thanks; I had no idea you could do that.

You can't craft them. You have to buy them and the tools to use them from a new NPC, who is tied up in the Dungeon. Rescue her and you can buy the new mechanics stuff from her.
I love the new lighting system but I hate how they've added all of these stupid rainbow colours to things like the enchanted boomerang or basically anything that gives off light. It's hard to judge what a block is and such if everything's a constant changing purple, blue and green. :V
You can switch back to the normal colors by switching lighting to "Retro" in options. But I prefer Trippy, myself.
Somebody griefed the server. A couple houses near spawn were damaged, but I fixed them as well as I could remember.

Haven't been on the server for awhile, but i went on just now to check if anything happened to my little building, nothing that i was aware of was affected. So if it was and you fixed it, thanks. If not, then i guess it wasn't worth the time to grief it.

So me and my friends basically finished Terraria, we took on the 3 end bosses at the same time after upgrading our stuff. That was actually really awesome I thought. I recorded it for the hell of it.

Possible spoilers!!!

This was actually the second time I recorded though.

Man, does the new goblin NPC sell some neat stuff. Spectre Boots are <3

Also best accessory name ever :V
Dat ruler.

Personally, I am in love with the wings. Wings + Spectre Boots + Cloud in a Balloon gives you extreme air range. Also, the Demon Wings look badass. Angel Wings are for sissies. :V
I've been trying really hard to get black lenses.

No such luck.

I have 4, plus another pair of sunglasses I'm currently using. I could trade you them for some money, if you want.
The potion system almost feels kind of broken in normal mode. Down one Regeneration and one Ironskin before a boss fight, and you pretty much don't even have to worry about dodging anything. I assume the hard mode bosses are going to put up more of a fight, though...

Speaking of which, all I have left to do before I can challenge the Wall with my new 1.0 character is getting to the underworld. Since I've only ever used melee-based characters before (Muramasa spam gogogo), I thought I'd try a mage build this time, and so far it's been working out pretty well; the Aqua Sceptre is great for crowd control, and the Magic Missile can snipe pretty much anything that isn't completely walled off. It will be interesting to see how the underworld-tier spells fare against a major boss battle, since I've never really used them much before.

Any given one of the post-hardmode bosses is really, really tough unless you're decked out in the best stuff or are playing on a multiplayer server. The first time summoning The Twins after not really having any particular trouble with the Wall of Flesh, being decked out in Adamantite and whatnot, I figured this one would be ever so slightly tougher. Well, boy was I wrong; 24k hp per eyeball combined with their ridiculous movement speed made short work of me and the 7 light souls wasted to make the summoning item! I've been making excessive use of my super awesome Mythical Crystal Storm to rip up all of the regular enemies though, and it works awesomely enough that I have converted to pretty much a pure magical offense. I would recommend getting that spell, but maybe the demon fire one is even better - don't know yet!

I think it's about time I stop never doing alchemy and just make a ton of awesome potions!

So today I have learned that while the Jungle Armour is great for magic spamming (Ruthless Flower of Fire hell yes), it's not quite as good when it comes to stay alive against the Wall of Flesh. Although it wasn't actually the Wall or related enemies that killed me; according to the death message, I somehow accidentally managed to hit myself with one of my hellfire arrows. :V

Also I can't help but think that the Demon Scythe would help a lot against this boss. It's just a pity that it doesn't seem to want to drop at all D:

EDIT: silly item prefixes - the return of the revenge

I beat the Wall of Flesh yesterday with a demon scythe. :D

One of the first devils that flew towards me dropped it, and it was reforged and everything. IIRC, it has 3% crit, 10% damage and 15% knockback. With the aid of the water walking potion, hell armour, ironskin, regeneration and magic buffs, I was able to kill it without losing even a row. The speed of the wall was more troublesome than its attacks (which were only dealing 1 damage).

I feel like a moron now, too. I had heaps of minerals such as topaz and even 16 or so diamond, but upon checking the wiki I didn't think they mattered enough to keep so I sold them to the goblin and got myself the bench to combine items. A few days later I discover jungle armour needs the minerals to be forged, and diamond is extremely rare and I sold my whole stack.

Fuck everything.
Just fought a hard mode boss for the first time; since the Eater of Worlds is by far the easiest of the original ones, I chose to go up against the Destroyer. While my setup (Adamantine mage armour + Demon Scythe + a whole bunch of various potions) seems to work really well against it, and I managed to get it down to about a quarter health before it killed me, my tombstone sums up the battle pretty well; I felt like I was just jumping around randomly and panicking for most of it. :V Still, if it went that well, I could probably beat the boss if I just remembered to make some greater healing potions beforehand instead of just sticking with the regular ones. And wiring up that second heart statue I found to my boss arena probably wouldn't hurt, either.

Also the wings are awesome.
