I'd like the designers of world 4 to use this thread to collaborate on ideas and such (that way we prevent repeats of gimmicks, graphical usage, etc.)
Thanks.

As you know, I have the green switch palace. So I'll want to "introduce" (or atleast make some part heavily designed for) the feather - and some wooden rotating plattforms. The feather part however is only accesable after you beat the palace once.
My level has no gimmick whatsoever(damn) so I think it want clash with your level ideas. Except someone has a funny Idea :3
I'm just courius about three things:
-Should we use in World 4 more Green Switch blocks as a hint for the player that the switch palace is there? Like in Original SMW.
-Does "Sandfall" makes sense in the BG?
Not sure if I can ask this here, too, but
-Is the diggable sand block already inserted?(Just asking that here, because I don't care about postcount)

I don't see why not, but its more or less a global question, if we were to use these blocks in the levels previous to the switch, the the other worlds containing the Yellow, Red and blue switches should do the same.

It does, but I was under the assumption that all of the switch places are going to somewhat have the same theme and tile set. If you can make it work with that, then go ahead.

It doesn't look like it. Just post it in the block sign-up thread with the link to the file.

I'm down for green switch blocks in the levels.
Honestly if the all the switch palaces have the exact same graphics without any alteration that would be boring. Some sand-fall would look nice since it is in fact a desert world.

The original SMW did it, so I don't see the issue.
If I recall, foop made some pretty awesome Switch Place Gfx that worked with all the colors and adding a bit of sand in the BG or FG shouldn't be all that hard. It would keep the consistency between the switch places but at the same time, give it its own unique style.

The problem here is waiting for Foop to actually send that stuff in, which is taking quite a while.

Seeing as my GFX designer bailer out on me, I was thinking of using the graphics from Hydrostatic Halt, Lightvayne's level, with a different palette, in mine. If that's okay with you, could I also know what GFX number and Map16 page it's stored at?

Its fine by me. I think SPW is also using these gfx also though I really haven't seen any progress from him in a while. [EDIT: Apparently, fireblade is too. Well, I guess no one can complain about not enough consistency between the levels ]
I do have an updated version of this set if you'd like it. It contains the rocky background and a few coral decorations.
I don't remember off hand what gfx and page number it is and I'm not by my own computer at the moment. I'll get back to you on Wednesday with the info and the updated gfx file.

I do have a mostly-finished coral tileset I've been sitting on for a while; would that be of any use?
[edit: it would provide a really easy alliteration if you choose it, if such things drastically affect the level-making decisions you make]

I didn't have a problem with your idea for your level, but with whatever you choose, you better make it quick. The deadline will sneak up on you and its right around the corner.

I made these graphics for one of my own hacks and decided to donated them to SMWCP2. If any Desert
designers want them i'll post the stuff for download.

So uh, what music are you guys using? There are only desert ruins songs in the soundtrack...

Yeah, a lot of our desert tracks are quite a bit more "downbeat".
Uh .. grab something else on the soundtrack, or hold off and I'll see we can get another regular desert track in the ROM. It's not too important at the moment.

Okay, yeah. My level is definitely going to be more upbeat, so a ruins song wouldn't exactly fit.

I'm sure we can whip up something for you down the road, but yeah, for now let's focus on level construction.
