Try adding this to the top of your music file:
Code
;-- HEADER AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED -- $ED $80 $6D $68 $ED $80 $7D $00 $F0 ;-- END OF HEADER -------------------

And then re-inserting the music.
Ok, can someone please tell me why it says "couldn't open rom file"? Everything is right (I triple checked) and it's giving me this.
Write like this
Code
Addmusic.exe SMW.smc -se

the -se should'nt be glued to your rom name.
Or, see if you have any typos in the name.
everything is right. Addmusic.exe SMW.smc -se
Couldn't open the ROM file. Does it matter if it's edited by lunar magic? Or maybe 3 MB is too small? IDK!
"Couldn't open ROM file" implies that the ROM with that name doesn't exist in the Addmusic folder. Is SMW.smc the actual name of your ROM? Or is it something like MARIO.smc, or Super Mario World.smc or 435436354.smc etc...?

There are two N-SPC patches: Carol's MORE.bin that's found in the patches section and Romi's MORE.bin (which comes with HunFlungDu's AddMusic).

Carol's MORE.bin isn't used as much as Romi's, but it's required for some songs (they'll usually tell this in the description). That may be the problem. Check the description of the song you downloaded to make sure you didn't miss anything. Hope this helps!

BlackMageMario, the HFD's More.bin is like the Carol's, but with some diferences. And patching the Carol's More.bin with the HFD will result in crashes. (Or patching only the Carol's More.bin will result in crashes too, if you don't remove the header).

tl;dr: Just do a "-se" in AM4 and be happy!

Sorry, I though he was using Romi's one, because I patched the Carol's one time on a hack I failed to continue, and my music didn't sound right, so I also patched Romi's one, and the hack didn't crash. I was just going off my past experience.

Cheers dude!
I managed to do it. Very easy aswell.

:D
Hey, thanks for making this tutorial! It has never failed me and with out it I would not be able to insert custom music :P

Thanks.
I was inserting this into my hack, Luigi's Walk, and the OW music sounded great! But, when I selected a level, it said Luigi Start! Then nothing. Is it because I put it in a Hex Editor and made it say Luigi Start instead of Mario Start?

I'd imagine it possibly is.

Did you have music in the level too?
Thank you for this tutorial! I haven't inserted music in ages (Since probably early 2010), so this really helped!
I did everything like 4 times and yet the music still won't appear under the music list!

I use a different kind of Command Prompt witch forced me to wright
"cmd" before the command but I doubt that's the cause of the problem.

Dangit, why doesn't anything work for me?!
@Mrnintendorulez Well, use Windows' cmd.exe in the SYSTEM32 folder.
It'll probably prompt something like: 'This directory is blocked, click here to view it.' if you look in it for the first time.
Are you sure that create.msc = 1 in the AddMusic.INI file?
Yes, I checked the .Ini and it does = 1.
I tried other cammands but still no music.
I know it's not my cammand prompt, because it got the MORE.bit thing right.
Are you sure you opened the right Hack, refreshed Lunar Magic (in case you kept it open) and do you see a RomName.msc in your AddMusic directory with the same name and in the same directory (obiously)?
There is no file called SuperMarioWorld(U)[!].msc in the same directory as my rom and addmusic, if that's what you mean. (that is my rom's name by the way)
If you change your ROM's name to SMW or something with no symbols in it, does it work then?
Nope. I honestly don't know why it's having problems. I did everything to the letter, checked for other errors...
