Hi there.
This is undoubtedly the wrong forum for this, and I apologize, but I'm just so excited that I found this community in general.
Years back I was a huge fan of 'Kaizo' Mario hacks. I hadn't thought of them in many years, and came back dying to finally play some.
I downloaded ZSNES for Mac, but can't seem to get any games to work on it... I especially want to try Kusottare World.
Anybody know where I can be directed to easily playing this forum's ROM hacks for a Mac?
Thanks so much.
-Greg

It's likely that you are using the Windows version of ZSNES. Download the Mac version or use Wine with the Windows version and run the ROM with that.
And just for Will, lolmac.

From what he said, it seems he already has the Mac Version, but is having trouble opening the game. It's possible that you're just trying to open the IPS patch. So you should use an IPS patcher with a clean rom which you can verify: here to patch your hack patch and play with an emulator.

mockingod, you are right. I have a Mac version for ZSNES, it just appears that my computer has no idea what to do with the .ips file.
I just tried uploading it to that site you posted, and it said the hack is "not clean," but it's not the only one I tried to play with, so does that mean every game I've tried so far is not clean?
All of the games I tried were from this thread:
http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthread&t=16069
Is there an updated thread with working games, or do I need to do something special to .ips files to make them work? As of right now, when I click an .ips file, nothing happens. I also can't open it with any program.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks, but I have no idea how to use this program.
So I run the application. I have no idea what a "patch file" is, or what the "file I want to patch" is.
All I have right now is something called kusottare.ips, and the ZSNES program. Which files am I putting in what?
Can you explain this any better for me? I'd appreciate it.

Get a clean Super Mario World rom, then patch kusottare.ips to Super Mario World [!] (U).smc and you'll have your hack.
We can't tell you where to get the .smc file for legal reasons.

It probably wouldn't hurt to throw this video in here, just in case.
(skip to 1:23 for how to patch a ROM)
EDIT: oh, I apparently forgot this was on mac

Except there is no Lunar IPS for macs. There's one that is similar. Most of the patchers I found in the tools section of the site were for OS9 macs, in which Zsnes wouldnt be able to run because it only runs on 10.5 > macs.

Newer versions of Lunar Magic can create and apply IPS patches, and there's a Mac version of Lunar Magic in the tools section.
